Welcome to the Ukrainian National Selection for the WWW Song Contest #32!

In order to celebrate Ukraine’s comeback to the contest I decided to host a national selection.

The format of the selection was designed to show the whole diversity of modern Ukrainian music. So, what do we have:

• Semifinals. There will be 4 genre-oriented duels in this round (pop, rock, folk and jazz music – two songs of each kind). Voting is easy as possible – you simply need to write (here in the thread or via PM) which song you prefer in each duel. The one that earns more votes qualifies to the final obviously. All the duels will take place at once, you’ll have around 10 days to vote.
• Final. Here we’ll see 4 semifinal qualifiers plus 1 wildcard (a ninth song, not some duel loser) competing for the right to represent Ukraine in WWW Song Contest #32. Voting scheme would be .

• Kenny G feat. Barbara Munoz - Mirame bailar (Watch me dance)

So welcome our semifinalists!

The first ticket to the final will be given either to the ode to the motherlove "Mama" (Mother) sung by Natalya Mogilevskaya or to a dramatic ballad "Hearts Connected" performed by Omnia feat. Cathy Burton!

In the second duel we’ll see sympho-metal band Mysterya with “Neznayomets” (Stranger) battling against folk-rock team Tin’ Sontsya with “Mech Areya” (The sword of Ares)

The third duel! Balkan-inspired Haydamaki’s “Nemaje hliba - spivay!” (Sing even if you got no bread!) versus a patriotic song by Mandri – “Ne spi, moya ridna zemlya” (Don’t sleep, my dear homeland)

And the last duel will involve a native jazz-musician Jamala with her song “U oseni tvoi glaza” (Autumn has eyes like yours) competing against a duo of renowned smooth-jazz saxophonist Kenny G and Chilean singer Barbara Munoz singing “Mirame bailar” (Watch me dance).

P.S. Kenny G’s parents were emigrants from Odessa, so he’s eligible to participate if I understood the rules right.
