This is the official news thread for Iceland, under the broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV) And now, we'll start with our first story.
Icelandic preparations are underway It's only days before the time has come -
Iceland's performance in the second semi final. A little recap of our representative; Gunnar Birgísson will represent us with his only song to date ''Save Me''. The Icelander was chosen by RÚV to do the first participation under a new HoD. Iceland is one of the most popular countries in IMF recent editions, but despite this, they have never won an International Music Festival; their best result being 3rd. Over time, Iceland has been an automatic qualifier 5 times. Iceland is ready to tackle the semi final. Should we qualify, we would be very impressed at our representative. But if we don't, it's no worry as it's only the first participation for Iceland after 2 previous HoD's. The first semi final was viewed by 33,870 people, while expectations for the second one are to be more than 50,000. All we can say is good luck to all participants from

Rumours suggest that Iceland has chosen their representative. Some names that came up as rumours were Steinar, Greta Salomé or Jón Jónsson. RÚV confirms that one of them has been in contact: ''Steinar is currently planning a comeback for possibly the last time with his latest song, but it's unknown if this will materialize for #19, if not it'll be for #21. Greta has stated that while she plans to participate she doesn't want to in #19 as she has to focus more on career. But it's no surprise if you see her soon. And Jón.. the last time he was here was #3. But, with one of his songs he has, it's likely we'll see him.''If RÚV cannot choose the representative, the public will decide it; i.e the IBU members.
