ACHRÓA'S TRANSITION TO DEMOCRACY
REACTIONS AND PREPARATIONS
Some citizens in the vilage of Vont Alagóx celebrated the previous night with sparklers, in support of democracy
As Achróa prepares to transit to democracy in less than 24 hours, this article will have an in-depth look as to why people are suddenly happy, and why this move is being most criticised by the very people that currently govern Achróa. We'll also be looking at the preparations for tonight's celebrations, but we'll also be looking at the people ready to disrupt - probably - the best day in Achróan history.
The first surprising thing about the past few days is that almost every ordinary citizen is happy with the changes. Street celebrations, sparklers and chants are all too familiar to the people now. The night leading to January 1st however, could see at least 40% of the whole Achróan population come out to celebrate (that's around 4 million). In order to look at how they're so happy, we need to be able to look at the background of why democracy is important to Achróa:
- The Autonomy of Voldarea may no longer campaign for independence - a win/win situation
The furthest south 6 islands are claimed by the Autonomy of Voldarea, which has relentlessly campaigned for independence for over 20 years. Now that democracy is coming to the whole of Achróa, this will certainly quell the movement that has claimed the lives of almost 500 people. In the Voldar capital, Delibrei, celebrations have occurred all in support of Achróa. Is this the end of a 20 year strife?
- More international relations can finally be made
The vast majority of Fantasia is democratic. Some countries haven't even considered Achróa's relations in the past due to the plutocratic government.
But the biggest criticism has come from the government of Achróa itself; plutocracy worked in the country until Velto d'Apré ruined it all (in their opinion). The sad fact about this is that... they were correct. Plutocracy did work across Achróa (well, except from Voldarea) and most were satisfied in the past. The sudden dramatic change was indeed aided by Velto - so basically, the Achróan government is pretty much shouting this phrase over and over again: "Blame it on Velto, not on us!"
But then, an even bigger problem came when one of the international Fantasian states, Amelia, decided to deem the democratic movement in Achróa as illegal and fund the anti-democratic organisations on the island. Whether this is deliberate or just ill-minded, Achróa will know who's to blame should a rogue protest break out, or even an attack.
Preparations aspect will be featured on Achróan News later tonight.
