Friday's storm 'worst in around 10 years', says the MOARE
 The intermittent storms left devastation on the promenades of various coastal cities, such as that of Lothlór. Gusts of up to 88kmh were recorded here.Three people have died and hundreds have been injured across the whole archipelago after an occluded front and low pressure collided over the islands - something that hasn't happened in 12 years according to data. Millions of Achróan futofi (the currency in Achróa) will need to be paid to fix the damage caused, says the Meteorology Organisation of Achróa and the Rest of the Equator (MOARE). The worst recorded gusts, average wind speed AND heaviest rainfall during the storm were all recorded in Lothlór, which also saw the most of the casualties (2 deaths and 65 injured). The leader, Velto d'Apré, has offered all of his condolences and said "Achróa will unite to make our archipelago peaceful and happy once more." Verançel Island, the residence of the leader, was the only island to be exempt from the storms. Horrible news is also coming out from the South Enteren Reserve, where it is believed that many food supplies were lost in the tribe-only zone, which could lead to famine in the reserve - something which the government cannot deal with given the permanent restrictions in the zone. It is believed there were five deaths and around 200 injuries in the South Enteren Reserve, although this will be confirmed tomorrow. Many school areas have also been flooded, which has resulted in a three-day delay of the new school year, which was due to start on Monday. The postponement will lead to a major drop in production on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; leading to a bad economic period. The MOARE has stated that more deaths were expected, and that Achróa had a lucky escape despite the three confirmed deaths. The organisation also confirmed on Sunday that no major event like this would be due to happen in the near future, to the relief of the many families hit by the storm. |

Rumours over the second Fantasia Contest entry From left to right - Laura Doggett, Meadowlark and Rebekka Karijord
The talk of the town through the past week has been this: "Who will represent us in the second edition of FC?" Three songs have seen extreme popularity in Achróa in recent days, baffling citizens as to whether it will participate in the Fantasia Contest or not.
The current entry, "Experience", by Angele Dubeau and La Pieta, became the biggest-selling instrumental hit in Achróa since Ludovico Einaudi's "I giorni", selling more than 1 million copies. The three songs by Laura Doggett (featuring Alice Jemima), Meadowlark and Rebekka Karijord are all en route to hit the 1mil mark, and all are major possibilities for the worldwide song contest that recently came about.
So... what are these songs?
Laura Doggett (ft. Alice Jemima) - Night Girl
Meadowlark - Family Tree
Rebekka Karijord - Wear It Like A Crown
Funnily enough, all songs have dark messages. Night Girl predominantly about living a hard life, Family Tree about domestic abuse and Wear It Like A Crown about paranoia. The main correlation in Achróan music is that: if the song has a darker meaning, the song will do more successfully - rather than a celebratory love song.
Still, the initial question of who will participate in the second edition has not been answered. However, only the citizens of Achróa can influence the decision that will be made as soon as the first edition starts. |
