  There was a bit of controversy with Syuzanna's song.
Shortly before the announcement of the first semi-final songs, it was discovered that Syuzanna's original entry, "Zhanym", was actually a cover of Albanian singer Enca's song "A po tpelqen". Compare for yourself below:
As Syuzanna was not aware of this, through co-operation with her producer and the Äwenfestïvali team, "Zabudesh" was selected as Syuzanna's new song.
  Christina has taken part in Äwenfestïvali twice already, once in the 16th edition, and then again in the 17th edition. Both times she did not have too much success, placing 5th and then 4th respectively. This time, she has brought along American rapper Lowercase_b and is presenting a totally different genre from her other two songs. Will she be able to make it further this time?
  Domino are newcomers to the North Vision scene, but have already earned the support from many fans. Will they be able to use this support to qualify to the Äwenfestïvali final and possibly represent Kazakhstan at NVSC?
  Kairat Baekenov is a well-known singer in Kazakhstan, and most of his recent singles are recorded together with the band Format. Kairat and Format already took part in Äwenfestïvali 16, where they placed 4th. Will they be able to beat that result this edition?
  Ninety One is a new Kazakh band with an extremely kpop-inspired sound. Because of this, they have earned the support of many international kpop fans, but will these fans be enough to get them through to the final and even present Kazakhstan at the North Vision Song Contest?
