Yo folks. I'm new *here* so I may not know what I'm doing... but I found this place, you folks love Eurovision just as much as I do, so I thought why not try it out. If I'm way out of my element, send me a reply or a PM or something?
Anyhow, over the last six months or so I have been developing 50 States of Song, which is exactly what it sounds like. It would be a yearly contest for the fifty states of the USA to submit one song each from an artist in their US state. I promiseeeeeee I'm not trying to be anti-worldly here, but I thought the concept would be cool to try.
It's similar in some ways to other contests in this forum, but different in others, as a result of developing it outside of this forum circle. For example:
- The song must be an original composition.
- The song must have been released publicly during the previous year.
- The artist must live in or be from the U.S. state they represent.
- Songs must be under 3 minutes, 30 seconds
- Artists are mostly local and/or up-and-coming, it helps expand people's musical interests
There's a website and everything, which explains it in bigger detail:
glehner.wix.com/fiftystatesofsong
Everyone can vote for the songs on that website, and I highly encourage you to do so! I want to close voting by May 25, and have a final round that would finish in mid-June.
I've chosen all the songs for the states this year, because again - I didn't know about this forum. But in future years, it would be really cool to see submissions and/or ideas thrown about for song entries for certain states, and then use those for the competition. I also see that most of the contests here are more frequent, so I don't know if that's a big deal or not. I also saw that there's a USAVision contest but that it's temporarily inactive.
Thank you all -GPL
