Welcome to African Song Festival #2!
Theme: "A Moment in Time"
Theme: "A Moment in Time"
This is a song contest that is exclusive to African countries - this is the 2nd edition, and its format is similar to Africavision, which is currently on hiatus. After Sabina Ddumba's win for Uganda, this edition will be taking place in Kampala, the capital city of the country. The theme is "A Moment in Time", which I chose because it is reflective of the title of the winning song from Edition #1, "Time".
Guys, I am thankful for the positive and critical feedback I received in the first contest, and I thank you for giving this a chance! (Also I designed the poster above and I freakin' love it )
If you are interested in participating, read the Rules below, and select an available country or confirm and post your entry.
Note: We had a few rule changes in response to our discussions, and to hopefully fix some common issues with entry submissions. Those rule changes have been highlighted in RED.

RULES:
General entry rules:
- Submit one song entry prior to the entry deadline. Post the song and its Youtube video in the confirmation thread.
- The entry deadline is determined by the Contest Manager (Gregory (inactive) ).
- The Contest Manager will let you know if there are any issues with your submitted song entry.
- The entry deadline is determined by the Contest Manager (Gregory (inactive) ).
- The Contest Manager will let you know if there are any issues with your submitted song entry.
- The song must have been published (or uploaded to Youtube) within the last three five years (2012 or later).
- The song must be over 2:00 and under 8:00 (minutes) long.
- The song can be sung in any language, or an instrumental.
- No covers or remixes!
- NVSC, ESC, and JESC entries are not allowed.
- If a song placed in the Top 10 of a previous Africavision Song Contest, it will not be accepted. Be original, please
- If a song placed in the Top 10 of a previous Africavision Song Contest, it will not be accepted. Be original, please
- The musician/artist (or artist’s parents) must have been born in the country. If you can’t prove this fact, the entry won’t be accepted. No more random magical semi-African family tree relationship grandfather I-lived-there-once nonsense. There’s plenty of musicians and songs from every country; find them.
- No borrowing from other countries – even if the population is too low.
- The countries that are allowed to enter are the 54 fully recognized United Nations states and any dependent, non-sovereign territories of Africa (as listed here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_and_dependent_territories_in_Africa )
- If a user claims a country, they have first-come, first-serve basis to that country in the following contest. If the Confirmation deadline passes and the user does not confirm, that country will become available in the next contest.
- I won't hold the country you had in Africavision for you. First come, first serve. (Will delete this line at Edition #3)
- One user per one country. No teaming up/sharing a country.
- Unlike Africavision, you are able to withdraw, even if you got a Top 10 result... <_<
- If you withdraw from one country to claim another, you must keep that country for at least two editions. No country-jumping. This prevents a situation where a host country does not have an entry when they host the contest.
Voting:
- Once the submission deadline has passed, a recap video and song playlist will be posted. Use these to prepare your votes.
- Vote Eurovision-style (12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) for your favorite entries, prior to the voting deadline. One set of votes only, please.
- Send your votes via PM to the Contest Manager (Gregory (inactive) ).
- You cannot vote on your own country! Sweden tries this every year...
- You must have an OVSC Forums account to participate in this contest.
- Failure to vote in time results in one strike. Three strikes, you’re out for 1 edition. You will also have to use a different country in future contests if you get to 3 strikes (You won’t be allowed to get that country back – so don’t mess up!)
- If you need a replacement, make it known publicly. You cannot receive a strike if you ask for a replacement, even if none is found.
Other:
- The Contest Manager has the right to ban a member from participation (for 1 edition) if they receive complaints from at least three users. Continued problems will be reported to the forum administrators.
- The Contest Manager has the right to change or add rules. I may be doing this a lot if the contest grows!
- If there's a rule that you think should be added, go ahead and propose it. I won't ignore your critiques
- If we make it to a tenth edition, we will do a “Special” song-battle tournament edition
