Canada will stay in the competition! Last edition, Canada placed fourth which became the nations second best placing since victory. This edition also marks the tenth participation of Canada since its #43 return, which CBC decided to honor by returning Alessia Cara alongside DJ Zedd!

Even though I don't mind this system and I kind of agree with balint as well, I think it won't be the best situation, if we have to sit to PC 24/7 from the moment final results of an edition are revealed until the new edition opens. Also this new rule would mean many players opening NS's just to secure their place, without a real need for a NS. Too many countries in this contest also isn't a solution, so I guess this is the best compromise, because I can't think of anything better at the moment... You will be notified and tagged about the new edition thread and when it will open so you will be able to make sure to be online then and submit an entry. Apart from that, you are actually one of the most active people in here whilst others, least active, are those to fear their spot. Concerning National Finals, it's up to each player to host one and we can't tell them not to do so, nor set a limit of National Selections per edition. Hence, this is the best thing we could think of, instead of extending the countries limit. Then you need to notify and tag everyone with exact time/hour of the day, when it might open about 24 or more hours before it opens, because some people maybe log in here only onc or twice in 24h... I know, that I'm one of the most active at present, but I might not be in the upcoming months, if I will be lucky enough to find a job abroad for about 4-5 months, because in september I have to return to university, which means I will become almost as active by then again as I am now... And I'm not saying that hosting a NS is a bad thing, it's just that many people would do it not because they want to, but because they fear of losing a place...

I'm struggling with it a bit especially if it's taking that short time until the 51st entry. But we'll see.
Btw. when is the deadline to close the NS even? The NS should be over until Friday, the 24th of March. Sorry for not mentioning and thanks for reminding! Thank you so much!

Honestly I'm not a friend of this rule change, because it will put even more pressure at the participants of this edition to be fast and confirm the next one, and it also could lead to some rather inactive players getting spots who'll in the end may not submit anything.

In case they do not submit anything, the submissions open again once the remaining places are taken

If it does turn out that people use National Selections as a safety pin (idek if that's a thing lol), you could simply not secure the spots for the countries with the NS. It is player's obligation to run and finish it in time. Might as well aim for the grand final voting deadline. And as far as the limit problem, I don't have any ideas, as I have the same problem in Retro lol. The only thing I tried to "work in" was, if you send your entry after all spots were taken, that entry is already submitted in the next edition, so the person who is out has a silver lining. Probably wouldn't work here as people might not stick with the same entry until the next edition. And it was probably used like twice in Retro people just didn't want to submit after all spots for the current edition were taken I would honestly prefer PQR over rotation system.

I would honestly prefer PQR over rotation system. Very good idea! But i think it could end in more work for Mimis or Florian! Unless... That just like in NVSC the "host" country of the PQR is in charge of the recap, results, etc.

And it was probably used like twice in Retro people just didn't want to submit after all spots for the current edition were taken I would honestly prefer PQR over rotation system. Well, the National Selections used as a safety pin, as you've mentioned, wouldn't be hard to notice. I am personally convinced that our players will go fair and won't just start opening National Selections in order to secure their place. If so, I guess we will be able to notice quickly and take action. About submitting an entry even after all 51 spots are taken, just like it happened with Australia which missed out for like 10 minutes last time and their entry was kept for this edition, we considered this to be honest. However, there were quite a lot of cons, leading us to reject this idea. Firstly, as you've said, they might just take advantage of their secure place from before to change their entry afterwards, meaning that it isn't fair for the others. Apart from that, I guess most of those players who didn't submit in time would come and confirm already for next edition by submitting an entry for the next time. However, then they could possibly just go inactive and not turn up when it's time to vote or something. Hence, by encouraging them to vote in the final of this edition, not only are they involved in this, but they also follow the contest and get to remain active, just so that they can keep in track. What's PQR btw?
