SWISS RISING STAR (#39) - NORTH SWITZERLAND - AUDITIONS DAY 1
The songs will be revealed in a random order.
SONG #1
NICKLESS - CLOUDS
Timeslot: 2:11-2:36
Nickless (Nicola Kneringer) is a pop musician from Zurich, Switzerland.
He tried to represent the country in IMF in its 36th edition, with "Waiting".
He came 11th in the selection, and is back to try again - This time with the upbeat love song "Clouds (Love Is Enough)"!
SONG #2
ANNA ROSSINELLI - KING MUSTAFA
Timeslot: 1:33-1:58
Anna Rossinelli isn't new to IMF.
Having represented Switzerland in IMF 3 times already, with "In Love For a While", "Shine In the Light" and "Speechless", she's ready to take the responsibility once again.
With the funky, African-inspired "King Mustafa", she's more than ready to bring IMF to Switzerland for the first time ever!
SONG #3
LEVIN - NOT EASY
Timeslot: 2:11-2:36
It's "Not Easy" to sit through this Coca-Cola-advertising music video, but nonetheless -
32-year-old Levin Deger of Zurich is attempting to represent Switzerland for the first time.
Will Levin, and his pop-rock number "Not Easy", win SRS #39? It's decision time.
SONG #4
WE INVENTED PARIS - ICEBERG
Timeslot: 1:35-2:00
We invented Paris! Well, no, we didn't.
But this band, formed in Basel back in 2010, led by Flavian Graber of Lietsal, claims they did. Sort of.
Check out this song though. It's called "Iceberg", and will surely melt your hearts.
Does it have what it takes to represent the floppy nation of Switzerland?
SONG #5
SARAH ZINGG - CITY ON A HILL
Timeslot: 1:12-1:37
Yas, bb's, she's BACK.
The runner-up of SRS #38 lost by a small margin against our IMF-38 finalist Anna Kanzig (Who we like as well but evidently not as much).
And "After The Fail", pun-intended, Sarah Zingg is back on track with her heart-warming "City On a Hill".
Will she repeat her success from the last NS edition?
SONG #6
END - ALASKA
Timeslot: 2:22-2:47
Imagine how pretentious it would be if an anonymous band from Switzerland described themselves as... *clears throat*
"A fascinating and enigmatic blend of alternative rock and indie pop β one that speaks out of the depths of the soul and lingers in the memory."
Oh, because that's the case with this one.
"END" will participate in an IMF national selection for the first time, and they bring a new indie-esque vibe, and tons of cofidence, with their SRS39 entry, "Alaska".
Are they THAT good? You decide.
(Spoiler alert, they kinda are.)
SONG #7
MONOPHON - SECRET ISLAND
Timeslot: 2:34-2:59
Not to be confused with Monophona, MONOPHON is an Indie-Rock band from Ostschweiz.
They were referred to as the "dreamy Swiss answer to MGMT" by Swisszik.ch, and we completely understand why.
From intriguing visuals to crazy-sounding instrumentals, MONOPHON definitely bring something we've never seen into the table.
Are they worthy of your "Blue"?
SONG #8
PEDESTRIANS CH - I HAVEN'T
Timeslot: 1:01-1:26
The Swiss musical group Pedestrians CH bring the reggae vibe we really, and I mean REALLY, lack here in Switzerland.
They originate in the north of the country, and bring their Ska-inspired music in the midst of all the yodeling and the folk music.
Let's just let this one speak for itself.
