- from my Tumblr post: “Stones” leaves quite the lyrical imprint! Summarized, its idea is that we won’t participate in the ‘throwing of stones’ that hurt the rest of the world. There is, indeed, some political undertones associated to the message - ironically a very appropriate “neutral” song to come out of the Swiss Nation! The instrumentation is solid - the starting riffs remind me of this song, hilariously, but the rest of it is good ol’ thumping pop-rock. As Stefan is the percussionist in the duo, the drums take a prominent role in the song, so “Stones” has a driving beat with high energy. Corinne’s high notes can be shaky at times but she has the power to push through; she has fantastic stage presence! I think this song may fall into the category of “good, quality music, but not necessarily for Eurovision.” This line of thinking is somewhat a non-sequitur because of the last two year’s abstract compositions taking the trophy. But the thing you have to remember is whether a song can have an immediate impact. Although “Stones” can be played on the radio and in pubs across Europe because it has been edited and produced in that way, the song itself is not strong enough to be a Eurovision winner. Switzerland also got unlucky with its semifinal draw. THAT. BEING. SAID! Every year there is a surprise; no entry should ever be counted out - except Iceland, maybe The drawing order is interesting in that this comes between Armenia and Ireland: two ballads that rely entirely on lyrics and message. So how will the upbeat song fare? All will be told once we see the staging, of course. Hold on to your chairs!

My favourite by quite far this year. Sadly I've already resigned to the fact that this entry is unlikely to qualify, which may seem too pessimistic but the crushing disappointment of my favourite (by far) Amber failing to qualify in 2015 is something I don't want repeated.

Just like normally our entry is quite often on the radio. That made me finally realise recently how good it actually is.
