Good evening Europe and welcome to the announcements thread of the
Icelandic national selection, Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins!The selection has been used ever since
Iceland's return in the 23rd edition. Prior to that, it was also used from #7-9. Despite having mixed results in the final, the selection has only lead to one non-qualification thus far. Silja Rós won the last edition with her song "Did you Know" and despite getting 25th in the final, we were very proud of her showing and decided to continue the selection. Across the next 2 weeks, we will find out who will be representing Iceland in 
Morocco!Format
11 songs will be competing in the selection. Of those, 10 are
Icelandic acts and 1 is a foreign act - of which I'll let you guess which country it's from for now.The 11 songs were chosen as such:
5 from the Co-HoD of
Iceland (Josh's Tattoo (Inactive) )5 from the main HoD of
Iceland (Dylan )Of the 11 songs, 6 are in English and 5 are in
Icelandic.And the foreign act was selected and sent to the NBU by the HoD also.
The selection will follow a similar format to that of the
Maltese selection this time, after RÚV took inspiration from it and enjoyed the system. (I hope you don't mind of course!) However, there will be some tweaks to it;- There will be no split between juries and televoting. Everyone that is eligible* can vote; this rule especially comes into effect in the grand final - where it will be 100% international juries.
- The 10
Icelandic acts will be divided into 5 battles (which will be taking place very soon - as the deadline is approaching) and in which 5 of them will qualify.- As you can guess, the foreign act will be automatically qualified into the final. Thus, 6 songs will compete in the final round.
- In the battles, poll voting will be used. I strongly suggest you listen to both songs there before voting.
Now, let me explain the * I put above. All HoDs and Co-HoDs are allowed to vote. Associate broadcasters are also allowed to vote.
As country draws have taken place recently, in the final RÚV has allowed the following to happen (should these users wish to vote):
Niall can vote as
ArmeniaAless can vote as the
United KingdomCallum can vote as
Switzerland (as he will manage the country in #25)Andreas can vote as
Morocco (as he will manage the country in #25)Josh will be the
Icelandic Co-HoD for #25 and as such won't vote as 
Macedonia.The first 5 songs will be revealed tonight. This is due to time constraints (and, if anything, I want to start the selection ASAP
