"SEEDS"
by Camille
1:52+
In my opinion, the percussions of the song serves the lyrics, which serves the song, and that's what I believe to be memorable drums, as they are present during the song, slowly at the start, then finally present during the chorus and the end.
Camille describe the song as being "a small seed of love", the song starts by the sounds of military drums, then the softness of the melody and the voice of the singer. The lyrics are simply showing how Camille (the singer, again), is attached to the earth and the world, with intense lyrics: Seeds of silence, seeds of summer / Seeds of hunger, seeds of stone / How can you buy them ? / How can you sale them ?
Live version, which I'm inviting the judges to take a listen to:
| LYRICS
Seeds of laughter Seeds of lettuce Seeds of rustling leaves and flowers Seeds of rain Seeds of passion Seeds of saffron Seeds of strawbery fields forever Seeds of grace Seeds of peaches, seeds of pecan Seeds of peace, seeds of hope Seeds of pace, pine and pepper Seeds of glory, seeds of gold
How can you sell them How can you spoil them How can you trade them How can you grow
Seeds of sorrow Seeds of sterile landscape Seeds of devastated corn Seeds of strain Seeds of misery Seeds of mud and melancholy Seeds of watermelon Seeds of waist Seeds of silence, seeds of slummer Seeds of hunger, seeds of stone Seeds of underneath the summer Lies a million seeds of cold
How can you buy them How can you sell them How can you trade them How can you do so
How can you buy them How can you sell them How can you trade them How can you do so
Seeds of lovers, seeds of apples Seeds of blue eyes, belly button Seeds of men Seeds of children Seeds of rosebud onions Seeds of what's going to happen Seeds of change Seeds of change Seeds of change |

Generic White GirlRIVALS - Over ItTimeslot: 1:39+ This might come across as not memorable enough or basic but as I was thinking what to send, I relized that many will send something unique and I was thinking that this could stand out due to being more simple but still being momorable enough.

WEEK 2 Hit My Drums
NEEDTOBREATHE - WALKING ON WATERRecap time: 2:04+This has been on my playlist for a little while, and once I saw the category, I knew that this should be one of the songs I'll send to DSR. I think this has memorable drums because the drums in the song are very uplifting and gives a bouncy vibe, which is why I believe this has memorable drums.
The song also has a hidden message, and it goes out to the survivors of the hurricanes Harvey and Irma that happened in Texas and Florida. The members of the band have stated that their stories served as the inspiration of this song.
Lyrics:
The wind is strong, the water is deep
My heart is heavy and my mind won't sleep
Oh can you heal, my fear it breathes
I need to know if You're the shadow I can see
I wanna run to You when the waves break through
I wanna run to You and not turn back
There's no turning back
Nothing in the past
My eyes on You again
Can't see nothing at all
But Your outstretched arms
Help me believe it
Though I falter
You got me walking on water
The ocean's singing, the song of grace
But if I'm honest with myself, I am still afraid
I wanna run to You when the waves break through
I'm gonna run to You and not turn back
There's no turning back
Nothing in the past
My eyes on You again
Can't see nothing at all
But Your outstretched arms
Help me believe it
Though I falter
You got me walking on water
I was sinking like a stone again
I was halfway in the grave and then
I looked up and saw Your face again
You pulled me out of the water, water, water
There's no turning back
Nothing in the past
My eyes on You again
Can't see nothing at all
But Your outstretched arms
Help me believe it
Though I falter
You got me walking on water
Though I falter
You got me walking on water, water, water
You got me walking on water, water, water, water

WEEK TWO MOTHER EARTH UUTAi Timeslot 2:45 - 3:00 DESCRIPTION I was given a special permit of receiving this week's theme earlier than others due to my real life circumstances and immediately thought to myself: "The most memorable drum songs are purely acoustic and provide little else than the raw instruments itself." There was no way I wanted to select electronic sounding drum beats, nor your average pop song filled with drums. For this week, I've decided to go more risky by selecting a folk shamanistic singer from Siberia whose songs are raw and go in deep. Just vocals and raw instrumentation. Olena Podluzhnaya Uutai, 31, was born in the Sakha Republic in Russia and went on to travel all the way to the United Kingdom, participating in Britain's Got Talent last year. Personally I was made aware of her through the Trivanian national selection for Fantasia Contest with another song - but through research I stumbled upon this magnificent song. She plays the jaw harp, but for this song, she utilises only her voice and two instruments - the more dominant one being the drum, echoing throughout the entire song. What I love most about this song is how it fluctuates: the drum isn't based on a constant beat, more so it plays more naturally, increasing and slowing down throughout the song. To summarise, this song uses the drum as the main instrument next to Olena's voice. That's the entire song.

CAND ICE AMERIE • "1 THING" (1:16+) (S06E02, HIT MY DRUMS)
Knock, knock, knock, oh Knock, knock, knock, oh Knock, knock, knock, oh Knock, knock, knock
Oh, been trying to let it go Trying to keep my eyes closed Trying to keep it just like before The times we never even thought to speak Don't wanna tell you what it is Oh wee it felt so serious Got me thinking just too much I wanna set it off, but
It's this 1 thing that's got me trippin It's this 1 thing that's got me trippin (you did) This 1 thing my soul may be feeling It's this 1 thing you did oh oh It's this 1 thing that caught me slippin It's this 1 thing I want to admit it This 1 thing and I was so with it It's this 1 thing you did oh oh
Hey, we don't know each other well So what? I keep thinking to myself Memories just keep ringing bells Oh oh, Oh oh, Oh Hear voices…
|
This week the challenge asks us to send a song with memorable drums. "1 Thing" is one of the songs that since the first second is hitting the drums until the end. What makes it memorable is the fact that drums is the main instrument of the song and it's quite obvious, but also the beat is very catchy and uplifting which makes you want to dance. As my first week, I think that the song is a good way to start this new season for Cand Ice and try to forget the mistakes of the previous one.

"JIG OF LIFE" Kate Bush
2:12+
"Jig of Life" is one of Kate Bush's ventures into Celtic music, and this song features the Irish frame drum, the bodhrán, as its percussion. That's, in my opinion, a factor which makes this song memorable and stand out amongst the rest. The bodhrán is also an integral part of the song and Celtic music in general. It's especially apparent in the interlude, but is present throughout the entire song.
the bodhrán
In terms of the song's meaning, the song is a part of a mini-album by Kate Bush, titled The Ninth Wave, which is a part of her critically acclaimed album, usually considered her magnum opus, Hounds of Love. The concept of The Ninth Wave is about a woman drowning in the aftermath of a shipwreck, and "Jig of Life" describes the hallucinations experienced by the woman as she slowly freezes and runs out of oxygen. The drowning woman is confronted by her future self, who tries to convince her to fight for their shared life.
| LYRICS
Hello, old lady I know your face well I know it well
She says "Ooh-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na! I'll be sitting in your mirror Now is the place where the crossroads meet Will you look into the future?
"Never, never say goodbye To my part of your life No, no, no, no, no!" "Let me live!" She said, "C'mon and let me live, girl!" She said, "C'mon and let me live, girl!" C'mon and let me live!
"This moment in time," She said "It doesn't belong to you," She said "It belongs to me."
"And to your little boy and to your little girl And the one hand clapping: Where on your palm is my little line When you're written in mine As an old memory? Ooh, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
"Never, never say goodbye To my part of your life Oh no, no, no, no, no! Never, never, never, never, never let me go!" She said, "C'mon and let me live, girl!' "C'mon and let me live!" She said, "C'mon and let me live, girl!" "C'mon and let me live!"
I put this moment... here I put this moment... here I put this moment Over here! Over here!
Can't you see where memories are kept bright? Tripping on the water like a laughing girl Time in her eyes is spawning past life One with the ocean and the woman unfurled Holding all the love that waits for you here Catch us now for I am your future A kiss on the wind and we'll make the land Come over here to where When lingers Waiting in this empty world Waiting for Then, when the life spray cools For Now does ride in on the curl of the wave And you will dance with me in the sunlit pools We are of the going water and the gone We are of water in the holy land of water And all that's to come runs in With the thrust on the strand

DYSLEXYA
"Raganu Nakts" Tautumeitas For this weeks challenge I really tried to be original and take the challenge in a different way then I would usually do giving drums as the category I would normally search for rock songs wich I did at first untill I came across this song from Latvia For me this song sounds so amazing and so traditional. All the different kind of drums together with the amazing sound of the Latvian language makes this song so great and ethnic for me and it’s really how f.e. Tulia could have and maybe should have been in ESC this year! I hope you all can understand the way I interpretate this challenge and enjoy listening to this song!

Eivør • "Vøka"Recap time: 2:46+
As everyone knows, instrument challenges are my biggest weakness so after the challenge was posted, I automatically started to worry about myself and what I'm going to send. During the last hours I considered a, what it feels like, endless amount of different songs to send and I just couldn't make my mind up so I kept searching for more and more songs. Eventually I stumbled over this Faroese gem and I immediately knew that I wanted to send this. Eivør in general is an interesting artist and while I personally don't know a lot of her songs, this is definitely one of my favorites, despite only discovering it today. I fell in love with it and I hope that the judges will too xx
