This song by Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør actually has multiple remixes by different artists. I chose this one because I really appreciate the almost ethereal sound it has, Susanne's vocals turn into captivating chanting and the electronic music amplifies the cold vibe of the original version.

Theme: Send a remix of a song that's better than the original.
ORANGE TREES (Bearson Remix) MARINA DESCRIPTION I know you all despise this song.
And that is why I sent it.
Because it's better now. About due time that one particular artist was sent in six seasons of Daniel's Song Race, but it never seemed to fit with any element and any challenge given up to this point, up to today - and the tea is that this particular remix was released today, right when I researched for more remixes I got the alert via Marina's twitter account. Do you believe in destiny? For reference, here is the official version of "Orange Trees" Orange Trees is arguably her worst song on her newest album 'Love + Fear' and universally accepted as a dread on the forums, and to an extend I agree wholeheartedly. And that is why I absolutely love the new take on this remix, the song seems more modern and danceable. After all, that is what the challenge is about, to send a better remix of a song. I'm a fan of hooks and intense beats and pitch elements in pop songs, a controversial and unorganic stance perhaps - there are two things that I really enjoy about this remix that make it my favourite Marina remix up to this point. OoOoO OoOoO Orange For one, there is a slightly altered production given in the infamous 'OoOoO' reducing the flow of the voice of Marina for just a bit, merging it with the beat of the song and I personally enjoy this one so much more than in the original take. Secondly, there are intense and increased pitch elements especially in the last post-chorus, giving you this flowing and tranquil final end to the song. Loving this remix so much more than the original. |

To my opinion, this remix is, may be looking quite similar to the original song (that you'll be able to listen to this post below), but it also add the punch and the power that this song was missing and that most of Hyphen Hyphen's songs have.
The video just basically shows how's the group is having fun during their concerts and during the time they spent together.

This was a tough week for me, because I am not really a big fan of remixes, but I think I found something promising. "It's All Okay" is a nice song, which I believe the remix makes it even more addicting. Active Child, have made it more mysterious and more sensational at the same time which can make you listen to the melody of the song, and put yourself into a magical journey, guided throughout the song.

This is my entry for week 5. Remix realness is a difficult challenge but, I hope my song will stir some emotion and bring you to a peaceful state.
Song:
The FatRat ft. Laura Brehm "Monody" (orchestral sJLs remix)

Why this song?:
When thinking of remixes, the first thing that comes to mind is an edm remix of slow song. I wanted to challenge that idea and go for an orchestral remix of an edm song. This song does just that and offers a deeper meaning to TheFatRat's song "monody". The original song is quite famous but the remix adds a whole other layer to this already great song.
How does it match the theme?
Daniel asked us to find a remix better than the original. The original version of this song is great and gives a sense of adventure but you tend to wait for the lyrics to come, which do not come until 2 minutes into the song. sJL's remix beings immediately with the lyrics, which are beautiful. The original version feels likes music with words but the remix blends both the lyrics and the music into one beautiful combination. When listening to the remix, I think of the deep thoughts I have while traveling in a car or a train. Her voice blends well with the music and it allows you to think clearly. The lyric " Mountains in the way, couldn't keep us from the sea" is a beautiful lyric about the hurdles in our lives and how we conquered them. This song looks back at these times where we were full of adventure and ready to conquer any mountain. The original version focuses on the adventures but the remix focuses on the reflection of these moments. I adored the original version years ago but, this remix made me fall in love with it again for different reasons. I hope you enjoy this song.

It is a song that I got into recently and I finally get a chance to send it. Fun fact I barely could find this song on Spotify apart this remix cause when you search it, it 1st appears so remix kinda grew on me too while listening to it.
You don't get me high anymore by NY duo Phantogram is a song that talks about apart addiction the feeling of never feeling good enough. It also taps into this idea of wanting to feel something. Basically, wanting to feel something strong and doing whatever it takes to feel it again, because you know it feels good and you miss it. The remix gives the darker vibe to the song that focuses on dark topics as addiction and emptiness. Apart darking it also gives kind of chil, waiting vibe that reflects on song meaning more. I chose the remix cause I feel it reflects on what song is trying to tell than original as original is more upbeat, indie and makes you good than makes you think about the lyrics. Lyrics "Nothing is Fun" and "it used to take 1 and now it takes 4" is what depict the addiction of the song and the dark voice really gives the chills to the song.

This remix version is in my mind amazing. The remix shows so much depth and in a way shows its own side to the songs emotion. I feel the remix is a more cool vibe and at the same is really gripping. I feel for these reasons that It translates to a better unique version of the original version!
The lyrics mean a lot to me, I had and still have these people in my life, that I hope to always be there for me and offer me the support and advice for when I needed in times when I did, but I always got and still get let down. If I did get something, it was a half-assed response and they didnt care.
This part of the song, really shows the meaning of the relationship between me and the song.

All these expectations that you always expected, to always get let down, its the worse feeling. To know that you think you can rely on people but yet you get let down, you try to make plans and you try to make the effort to make something out of what you have but all you hear all these excuses and they "go on and on and on", of why they can't do this and that. This has led me to feel alone and like no one wanted to hang with me or found me a bore. Trying to stay postitive for your family, so that they believe that I am "happy" with the "reliable" friends that I'm with. When I am emotionally dragged everyday. I still get hurt by this....

On a nother note, thank you to the specific forumers that have been there for me and you know who you are. All your suppport at anytime means a lot to me! 
I know a lot of people on the forums go or have gone through some of depression sometime in their life. I wanna dedicate my song this week towards all the survivors of this and the people that are fighting to have a happier life without the people the drag us down and make us feel like nothing, and want to be an Ambassador to people all over the forum for this as I feel the stigma of mental health on the forum is huge, so I say to anyone wanting to message for advice, message me at anytime with anything you want to get of your chest and are worrying about!
