Good evening and welcome to another edition of Ferðinn til... which was formerly known as Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins up until the 26th edition.
This edition will be known as Ferðinn til Svíþjóðar as this national selection will choose
Iceland's act for the upcoming edition in 
Sweden.

How will the selection work?
This edition will be a special edition as RÚV has chosen 21 songs to compete in the selection; 20 acts from Iceland, and 1 foreign act from 
Canada. 10 songs were chosen by the head of delegation and 10 others were chosen by the co-HoD, and the foreign act was a joint decision made by both. Both returning acts and newcomers were invited to submit their songs to RÚV.
The 20 Icelandic songs will compete in 2 semi-finals, with 5 qualifiers each. The foreign act will be automatically qualified to the final, so in the end there will be 11 songs left that will compete to represent Iceland in Sweden.
The voting will be open to HoDs, Co-HoDs and associate broadcasters.

09. Grísalappalísa - "Kvæðaþjófurinn"
10. Axel Flóvent - "Your Ghost"
As previously mentioned, we will have a foreign act from Canada. That artist will be Riit who comes from Nunavut. She applied to take part in the selection as a foreign act and will sing her song "qaumajuapik" which is sung entirely in Inuktitut. The broadcaster chose her to promote the music of the region to a wider audience.
The first semi-final will begin on Monday, November 4th!
