Hello all, As I'm sure those of you who are playing in YSC at the moment know, we normally use one of 2 main methods to calculate the results at present, these both have their pros and cons but they are: Player Voting: Each player casts their votes as in other contests and the totals of these are added up to create a result. If players cannot vote, they can nominate other people to vote on their behalf or alternatively the organiser will find a mystery voter on their behalf. Jury Voting: Instead of having players vote, a Jury typically consisting of around 10 members all casts their votes instead. Each jury at present usually gets multiple sets of points to equal the number of players taking part. My personal opinions on the two systems are as follows: Player Voting:
+ Players can take an active role in the contest and directly influence its results + The overall point scores are typically fairer and more balanced (in YSC 113 last got 25 and 1st 129 while in YSC 112 with jury last got 1 and 1st got 415) - There is extreme cases of bloc voting as people often choose to vote for their part - Results often make little sense and seem like a random draw as a result - Not everyone can vote during the period meaning we use the jury anyway for their points
Jury Voting:+ No space for voting blocs here as the juries are not directly involved in any part + Means players don't need to watch all 40 or more songs every single week + Positions typically make a bit more sense than they do when - Jury is deliberating and choosing winner before they vote resulting in massive points disparity and usually one song getting all the 12 points Personally I support the jury more than player vote (although it needs some changes itself) but I'm very curious as to what you guys think Use this thread to discuss your problems and thoughts on voting systems and any suggestions to improve them! |

Þórir For me is it not Important what for a System we use! Only what for you would be easy! The Idea for Jury Voting or the Secret Voter is that for those Members who can't Vote what ever why, to give a chance to be Part! When the Members Vote is it so that we have Blockvoting, but that we have in other Contests too! And by the Jury is it so they have a fixed Winner! What now is better was in the soon 115 YSC Editions History every different!

I would vote if there was a recap. But 40 full songs to vote for is not my thing.. The Point is that we have a Rule that every get the same Chances! And by a Semi Final see the CU that there would it not be! Than when you have not luck you comes every in that SF who Members not like your Song! That's why we have in this Edition 52 Positions! |

When the Members Vote is it so that we have Blockvoting, but that we have in other Contests too! And by the Jury is it so they have a fixed Winner! What now is better was in the soon 115 YSC Editions History every different! Both systems at present need fixing to make the contest a bit fairer for all, the same players (FE, SV, AN etc.) are almost always in the top 10 whilst others like MC, IE and RE are consistently struggling regardless of what they send. I'm for the jury, but there is one big suggestion I'd like to see happen: - Jury members should vote seperately instead of pre-deciding the winner - This will make the results more varied and hopefully avoids having one song with more points than the bottom 26 combined
Obviously its not up to me but I'd be interested to see what Marius thinks

You see it so or so! The Jury have Vote more Symbolic in theory they can Post it only as Places! And when now would it so that the Members Vote we can't say that it should not allowed to make Blockvoting! We can say that we wish it! But you know that comes not really good under Ana Part! And than is the difference between Forum and Non Forum! Overrated or Underrated does not exist in Non Forum or who Win! Some really don't like Vote! It's not a Secret! For those is Winning not Important and that we see in YSC Live! And yes FE have this Cute Factor, that we don't have and he send Kpop what since HY really Popular in YSC! And I would say it again FE is we said in German Nestküken in YSC! When other get the Feel the Forum hates him! Would that escalated again! |

Þórir And I would mean not that you should not say what you think! And yes I understand when you feel worse when you get Last! What should I see I be in the Forum a big loser! That is so! But by YSC it's the only where I think that a Place not hurts! That that is more you Post Songs what you like and others can like it too or not! But you would not worser why you get every Flops how MC! You know I say it again!

Ah I see, fair enough in that case if they just decide places and the vote is merely symbolic  As for coming last, I do try just laugh it off honestly as I know YSC isn't as big on results but it would be nice to not come last or bad results every week. I don't care about winning in YSC but I think it's more so that I have sent some songs that do mean quite a lot to me (Lífið er yndislegt was the first song I ever heard and Shelter almost saved my life not too long ago) and I know people don't know (or need to know) this but its just a little disheartening when those kinds of songs do poorly. |

I honestly don't care about my results (duh I keep sending orchestral), but I think I may crack top 10 for the first time since like my second one (103 I think) sooner or later.
