Hi people!
In a few weeks Lucerne will be hosting another edition of the Swiss Music Awards (or SMA as abbreviation - see the thread title). We still haven't learnt the nominees in all categories, but 2. I decided to be a little "creative" with my next NS and make it my own awards by using the actual nominees (and 1 song each) of one category. It's called Best Talent national - which I tend to call the "artists of the months".
Hope I'm not doing this completely wrong.
Short introduction:
I recently found out, that I'm still due to explain you what's the meaning behind these artists of the months I keep mentioning in my posts:
Its really easy to be explained: Generally speaking it's something like a promotion of young unknown musicians. Each month our biggest radio chooses an unknown artist from anywhere in Switzerland (with a reason behind each pick ofc) who's then getting a career boost for various reasons. As that happens every month, at the end of the year there's a collection of 12 acts. Out of these 12 they're then picking out the 3 best ones (not sure how that's done tho) who are then making up an own category at the following Swiss music awards. Most of the winners are a little later on becoming very successful.
It's been very recently that we learnt the nominees of this category. 1 of them took part in Wwwsc before. Prepare yourselves for not too poppy sound.
Monet192 - Niemalsland
Monet192 is a 22 y/o rapper from St. Gallen in the North East of Switzerland. He was nominated in December. Having already performed at the biggest hip-hop festival in Europe (which is also held in Switzerland) and getting some recognition in Germany / Austria he's already on his way to get quite up there.
Sensu (& Benjamin Amaru) - Moonlight Lemonade
Our second artist is 27 y/o electro producer Sensu, hailing from the outer agglomeration of Zurich. Her debut album was released in September which earned her positive acclaim, the nomination in October making her the first producer who's getting a nomination at our awards.
Also this song is vocalized by Benjamin Amaru who took part in Wwwsc before himself.
Naomi Lareine - Sweet Latina
Naomi Lareine is an RnB singer from Zurich. In late 2018 she was included on some lists of "Swiss artists to watch out in 2019" which also made me submit her song Issa vibe back in edition #68. In the meantime Naomi didn't only release her first album and 3 singles, she already performed at several big festivals throughout the year, making 2019 "an incredible year" as she said the other day.
Please vote in the poll above for the 1 song you like the most. I'd also like to see your opinions on them in the comments below.
