Before Eurovision... one of my earliest interests in listening to music was exploring #1 hits - the songs that top the charts. A long time ago I had downloaded every hit song and recorded them to CDs. Then I'd make compilation CDs of which songs were #1 every year on my friend's and family's birthdays and give them as gifts. This was like the mid to late 2000s, before Youtube had every song. Then I got interested in learning what was #1 in other countries. I learned French in school so I would listen to French #1 hit songs to try and pick up the words for extra practice. That was a gateway for me to find more music I wasn't even aware of, and it broadened my horizons. Then, in 2015, my friend introduced me to ESC (and the evolution was complete I guess)But ANYWAY, I thought it would be fun to post the video to the song that was #1 IN YOUR COUNTRY the week that you were born. Most countries have some chart that go back to the 1990's. If you can't find a chart for your country, then you can post a song that was popular around the time, or maybe the #1 song of another country you relate closely to. Some chart sources:www.billboard.comen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_charts#International_chartswww.lanet.lv/misc/charts/(if there are better sites, post them with your song and I'll update this section)

I think there's already a topic like this before? Anyway, this was #1 in Switzerland on my birthday: Love this song so much btw.

According to the source i used the #1 listed song on 28th of December 1995 was this one in Finland "Benefits" of being born when gangsta rap was big i guess Needless to say i have definitely not been influenced by this at all with my music taste and i am glad for that Though still i don't think this is a bad song This was actually fun to look for we need more stuff like this

Welp, considering I've technically got three countries I can claim as mine, heres all of them (so the Oricon chart didn't start being published again until 2005, so based on the best selling singles of 2004, I can only assume it was this childhood bop that still slaps hard as all get out) (see Japan, and this is my best guesstimate)

Latvia is one of those countries, where such charts/tops weren't a thing yet, so it's impossible to find the song this thread wants me to find. I can either find the most popular song of the year (year is the smallest unit) in the country or look at worldwide charts for worldwide hits, but that doesn't really go with the title of the thread... But if anyone's really interested - here are 4 songs that were on top in specific countries: (that I quickly could find)

Hi, unfortunetly I had to delete my first post because that song was Nº1 in an important Spanish Radio. So, the true Nº1 in Spain when I born is one of the best Latin Hits in the music history:
Chayanne - Torero
I expected Aserejé, but OK.
