BELLADONNA Silvia Claudia Simionescu, better known as Karmen, is a 23-year old Romanian singer. The song with which she was chosen to represent her country is titled "Belladonna", whose music video is inspired by the TV series Ratched.  | Ukraine wants to BOOM BOOM!

One of the biggest Ukrainian national selections in the last editions came to an end. In total, the Ukrainian delegation received 35 voting forms, there included the 12 juries. While the winner was not clear in the beginning, now one song managed to stand out and win the 20th edition of "Pivnichbachennya Vidbir Natsionalnii"... and it's a very known face we will see in Saint Petersburg...
Svitlana Serhiivna Loboda, better known as Loboda, is an Ukrainian singer and composer. She is not a stranger to NVSC - as she has represented Ukraine already in the 15th edition of NVSC in Copenhagen, as well as in the OGAN Second Chance Contest, where she placed 9th once and won one time. She will get on the stage together with Russian rapper PHARAOH (Gleb Golubin), who also co-wrote their entry "Boom Boom". They won PNV #20 with an overall rating of 5.21/7, being rated the best song right before the runner-up "Last Dance" by the duo Vremya i Steklo (4.99/7).
So it's "Boom Boom" what we will see in Saint Petersburg. Since its release, there are two music videos to this song. The original video (link below) shows a group of men rating women that dance or move in the middle of the room. The men go crazy looking at young, beautiful women, while older or fatter ladies are "thrown away". At the end, when Loboda goes into the room, the whole situation flips and now it's the women rating and judging men.
The music video wants to turn your attention towards the problem of sexism and objectification of women. Because the original MV is so provocative and has quite a lot of sexist allusions, Loboda filmed another music video, which is more family-friendly and will therefore be shown at the contest in Russia.

THE UNITED KINGDOM CHOSE ITS ENTRANT!
LONDON GRAMMAR WINS NORTHVISION: YOUR DECISION 35
London – This evening the UK public and an international jury chose the British representative for NVSC 35. With 2293 points trio London Grammar won the selection "Northvision: Your Decision". Their song "Lose Your Head" placed 1st in the Televoting and 2nd in the Jury ranking by just a few points. They therefore received 95 points more than the runner-up Claudia Valentina (4:15). They received the highest amount of points ever. LOVE SICK and their song "Fever" placed 3rd with 1954 points.
London Grammar, indie pop trio consisting of lead singer Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic 'Dot' Major is an English band from Nottingham. 31 year-old singer and songwriter Hannah Reid is the lead singer of the band.
Speaking about the song "Lose Your Head", Hannah said:
“‘Lose Your Head’ is about power and control in relationships. The lyrics are quite dark, but I wanted to show the song in an upbeat way. I tried to channel my own personal chaos into something positive and powerful”
Lose Your Head is described as a pulsing power ballad that builds to something icily grand.

North Macedonia to serve a Feast in Russia! Skopje • 20th February 2021
After winning Makedonska Superzvezda #10 with 203,185 points, Mexican-Producer Kosovo and North Macedonian DJ Nestvarnost will fly the Macedonian flag with their song "The Feast". "Veter" by Funk Shui and "Lonely" by Kanita placed 2nd and 3rd in the Selection respectively!

  GERMANY IS GOING IN IN IN!Cologne, 20th February: Unser Song für NVSC 35 has just reached an end and the winner is Ojay Morgan, better known under his stage name Zebra Katz, with his song "In In In". The top 2 was a tight race between Zebra and Will Jay's "Lies", but Zebra managed to pull narrow wins in both halves of the voting. Zebra Katz is a  Jamaican-American rapper, who was born in  Florida and eventually moved to  Berlin. He's the 2nd LGBTQ+ Person of Color to represent Germany (after Lie Ning), although he personally doesn't like to put his sexuality in the focus. His career started off in connection to the Paris Fashion Week, where one of his songs was used for a show. Said song connects him to the ballroom scene, which Zebra loves and participates in, as a forming member of  New York City's House of Ladosha. "In In In" is the 5th track on his debut album "LESS IS MOOR", on which he also collaborated with Shygirl. The album showcases elements of hip-hop, drum 'n' bass and electronic music and pays homage to the minimalistic approach often demanded from artists of color, as Zebra himself states, that non-white people are commonly expected to be more resourceful than their white counterparts. ✪ SWEDEN HAS FOUND A WINNER! ✪
GRANT WILL REPRESENT SWEDEN! After a long and tense voting period, Sweden has finally found its winner.
After GRANT won the jury voting 3 points ahead of Svea, she managed to gain enough televoting points to end up as the overall winner. The televoting winner Winona Oak only managed to come fourth.
This was GRANT's fourth Fantasifestivalen participation and she finally managed to take the trophy home.

BILLY BARMAN TO REPRESENT SLOVAKIA AFTER PARTICIPATING IN ČESKO SLOVENSKA SUPERSTAR 2!
Billy Barman is a Slovak alternative rock band from Bratislava . It was established in 2008 around Juraj Podmanický and Jozef Vrábl . The band is a recorder in the number of Radio_Head Awards from Rádio_FM , when it gradually won 7 awards in several categories, from novices and concert band of the year 2009 to the awards of songs of 2015, respectively. 2019, which became the songs "Young Miss War" and "Time of Time". They became out participant after participating in Česko Slovenska Superstar where they came 3rd.

  MAY SFADIA TO REPRESENT  ISRAEL! After a month of intense competition, the first edition of Israelifest finally found its winner: May Sfadia will represent her home country in Northvision Song Contest 35, which is set to take place in  Saint-Petersburg.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Haifa breaks the familiar pop pattern, creates her own style and brings a singular mix of traditional sounds and modern elements into her music. Her first television exposure was on the show "The X Factor" where all the judges said YES to her breathtaking performance of "If I Were a Boy" by  Beyoncé.
Since then, May has performed at major cultural events in the country such as Blatter Israel at Menora Mivtachim Hall, the State Cup final at Sami Ofer Stadium and many others. She is also working on various projects with famous artists and DJs in the Israeli music industry. Her career has just begun but she feels ready to step on the Northvision stage…

Joanna Deborah Bussinger, known professionally as Red Moon, was born in Basel in 1993 to Norwegian parents. They returned to their hometown of Nittedal when she was six years old and she returned later to Switzerland at the age of ten.
She started her career in 2015 when she collaborated with past NVSC participant Mørland for the song "A Monster Like Me", which achieved great success not only in Norway and Switzeland, but also in Germany, Sweden and Austria.
Following that, she released her debut EP "DYS(U)TOPIA" in 2017, under the name Debrah Scarlett, which included "Neon Eyes", runner-up of Helvetia Festival #3 (NVSC #32).
In 2020, she released her first song as Red Moon, entitled "Dogma", and also released her second EP, "Phase I:XI".
With a total amount of 360 points, 32 more than runner up Flèche Love, Red Moon won Helvetia Festival #4 with her song "Dreamer".

“I consider myself a sceptic and highly curious semi-realist and this paradox is explored in the lyric’s examination of the human condition; the constant struggle between despair and hope. Now more than ever, when the world can often feel its darkest, we recognise it is a privilege to be able to dream and have hope.
The love and unconditional emotional support of my mother was a huge inspiration for me when writing this song and this is echoed in the feeling of power and freedom I feel when performing it. Needless to say, this song is very close to my heart.”
