WEEK 10: MY NIGHTMARE DIDN'T SCARE YOU EVIDENTLY
Birthday Kid FUZI x Mili 1:55+
Once again, I'm here. Damn I really went from Bianca Del Rio to Roxxxy Andrews on AS2 real quick lmao. But regardless, we were told to bring a nefarious song. According to Merriam-Webster, "flagrantly wicked or impious : EVIL" While villainous and vicious are closely related words, nefarious differs itself as it, "suggests flagrant breaching of time-honored laws and traditions of conduct."
So now, here we have FUZI and their collaboration with Mili. FUZI is a shadow singer/writer/artist/animator from Japan, and Mili is a group from Tōkyō consisting of Kasai "hamo" Yamato, Mitomo Yukihito, Yoshida Shoto, Yamaguchi Ame, Fujimori Ao, and the Chinese-Canadian singer Wei "momocashew" Cassie. The group is a classical indie pop collective with singers, musicians, and an illustrator/animator in Fujimori. The group has garnered noteriety for their music being a part of a number of iconic platforms, such as Cytus, Deemo, Goblin Slayer, Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045, and Gleipnir.
Birthday Kid was released initially in early 2019, however, they took the song down due to the artwork having some negative conotations with its design. Thankfully, the artwork still exists and it is the bit below.
The song follows the boy in both versions of the artwork, as he reflects on his actions, walking up to the gallows. He, just like many other nefarious characters in Japanese media, most notably Kaneki Ken from Tōkyō Ghoul, has someone breathing down his shoulder, begging him to torture and kill. However, once the song starts, he realises what he's done. He's about to be executed for his crimes, and at this point, he understands what's about to happen to him.
"Honestly, I don't know how I got so far
I did this to me
I did this to me
There is no one else to blame
I did it myself"
He recognises that his sins have come back to haunt him, and now, staring death in the face, his nefarious deeds are about to be punished. He turned the sands and water scarlet. The blade he clutched turned a bright crimson. And now, he knows that the countless victims of his will face him in hell.
"In my dreams, you praised me and clapped
Then mommy said
'It's alright, there's always next time
You did your best'"
His demon manipulated the boy and his mother into beliving that this was the right path. He blamed his actions on this demon that was manipulating him. And yet, with the noose around his neck, he understands that this demon of his was just a figment of his own imagination, and that all the suffering he went through because of his murderous rampage was all his own.
"There is no more mommy
There is no more daddy
I'll take it head-on
Yeah I'll take it head-on
'Cause I did this to me"
Both Kaneki and the boy were tormented by these demons, who egged them on to do countless nefarious deeds, leading to the both of them painting the streets scarlet with blood. And yet, the pair both end up acknowledging that regardless of their torment, their actions were theirs alone. Both end up paying the ultimate price for their deeds, death. Kaneki died in combat, while the boy was hung for his crimes.
There is another popular theory about the meaning of the song, which actually got the initial upload taken down. This one is a theory that I also think fits this bill of nefariousness. The theory is that the song is about the Japanese Government during World War II, and how the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the fault of the Japanese Government.
The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were devastating, killing between 129,000 to 226,000 people, predominantly civilians. The worst part is that this number could've been way higher, as the Americans also singled out both Niigata and Kokura, Kitakyūshū to be bombed as well. The thing is that many of the Japanese military leaders saw the writing on the wall, that they were going to lose and that there would be too many civilian deaths if they didn't. Citizens were starving, with the worst rice harvest since 1909. Yet, the nation didn't do shit, and thus, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed. A number of people in the Japanese Government ended up realising that they screwed up, and many of them ended up recognising their mistakes. Additionally, the line "My imaginary children; Great-great grandchildren; Singing in front of my 100th birthday cake" is also a reference to the Japanese nation, with a large number of centenarians, but also with an extremely declining birthrate, leading the nation to be like the first image, a single boy, living in a world of corpses.
I know that it may be strange that my song about something nefarious being a reflection on it, however, I know that many people can understand the fact that a bunch of nefarious deeds are reflected on and that these acts can help to understand the inner workings of the human psyche.
LYRICS
English
It's like we're a bunch of lonely people Testing the limit to see how much pain we can bear Ha-ah Ha-ah
Honestly, I don't know how I got so far I did this to me I did this to me There is no one else to blame I did it myself
I did this to me I did this to me I did this to me I did this to me I wish it was your fault I wish it was your fault But how could it be, oh But how could it be, oh I did this to me
Sometimes I can't move at all Unless I'm certain that I'm following the right path The right path
In my dreams, you praised me and clapped Then mommy said 'It's alright, there's always next time You did your best" It's like we're a bunch of lonely people Testing the limit to see how much pain we can bear Not too much and not too little So the world feels much more familiar Ha-ah Ha-ah Ha-ah Ha-ah (Ha-ah Ha-ah) Ha-ah (Ha-ah Ha-ah)
And the only reason I could carry on is thanks to My imaginary children Great-great grandchildren Singing in front of my 100th birthday cake Saying they are glad Saying they are proud Of what I've accomplished in my time It's all but a dream It's all but a dream It's all but a dream
I did this to me I did this to me I did this to me I did this to me There is no more mommy There is no more daddy I'll take it head-on Yeah I'll take it head-on 'Cause I did this to me

SHIVA KINDETT EPISODE 10 • Extermination Nefarious
Militia Crim3s 2:33+
To be quite honest, I had no idea what nefarious means, nor ever heard of the word before. When I read the definition, I didn't really get what makes it separate from other similar words. But I had this moment when I translated the word to german that I thought "oh wow, this is what it means".
<<< The hands of madness order me Peace let loose insanity >>>
Nefarious means heinous, despicable, loathsome... but what makes it different from the other adjectives for me is that it has this connotation of "taking over something". In this pretty scary and dark witch house song by Crim3s, this theme is described very well. The evil of the world is taking over the protagonist and they cannot escape the negativity. There is also images of war throughout the song which itself is nefarious aswell. Besides all of this, this song just bangs.
Lyrics
The hands of wars are touching me Ashed out the stars so easily Too sick to breathe in seas of sleep The sky will see fear in me Salute the thief and trust in hate Sold the lie that dreams aren’t free The hands of force are blinding me To think the world so happily
The hands of madness order me Peace let loose insanity Too sick to breathe in seas of sleep The sky will see fear in me Salute the thief and trust in hate Sold the lie that dreams aren’t free The hands of force are blinding me To think the world so happily

EXTERMINATION Hellbound Dua Saleh
nefarious [ ni-fair-ee-uhs ] extremely wicked or villainous; iniquitous.
Dua Saleh is a Sudanese-American recording artist, songwriter, poet, and actor based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Saleh's first language was Arabic which they said in 2017 was a "struggle to maintain" because of their immersion in English. Saleh is Muslim although does not consider themself "religious in the institutional sense". They have discussed their relationship with traditions of Islamic attire, stating that traditional "attire isn't reflective of [their] personal relationship with the deen, but reflective of the image of a Muslim that [they've] been indoctrinated to believe is socially accepted". On the song, Saleh introduces a new alter ego, Lucifer Labelle, who spits bars about an admirer who gets ensnared by the rapper’s deadly charms. “Bitch you on my dick you must be spellbound / Got these birdies singing making frail sounds / Girl you caught in Lucifer Labelle town,” they spit on the chorus. The accompanying visual compiles footage from the anime series Devilman Crybaby, which provides an epic story to match Saleh’s fiery bars.
Nefarious means a thought or especially an action that is evil, wicked, unlawful, immoral or villainous. The word nefarious carries a connotation of underhandedness or of circumventing that which is proper. Nefarious is often used to describe a criminal or notorious official of some sort. Related words are nefariously and nefariousness. The word nefarious is derived from the Latin word nefas, meaning something wrong, an impiety or a crime. Nefas comes from the Latin prefix ne- meaning not, and fas which lawful or divinely correct.
“‘Hellbound’ is a satirical song that critiques religious institutions,” Saleh explained on Instagram. “A new persona is introduced named Lucifer Labelle. This character manifested as a result of people telling me that I would go to hell for being queer. Lucifer Labelle brandishes queer identity smugly in the face of religious zealots."
LYRICS

WEEK 10: EXTERMINATION
Executioner Nicole Dollanganger
Back back again for an extermination after 4 weeks. The adjective we have to work with is Nefarious, which reffers to flagrantly wicked, criminal or morally bad actions. The song I've chosen is "Executioner" by the Canadian singer-songwriter and artist Nicole Dollanganger. I was debating on whether I should send this song because I feel like the lyrics are a bit abrupt and aggressive on a perhaps sensitive topic. However, in the end I decided to go for it since I find it to be a good fit.
While this song obviously doesn't invole Nicole herself doing the criminal act, her lyrics are quite clearly directed to a person who has committed a terrible crime and it appears that Nicole has known this person for some time which might also explain her deep anger. In general, the singer expresses her view on serial killers, she believes that they will have to "pay in this way or another", and visions them being executed. I feel the lyrics are very self-explanatory so you can check them out x
Lyrics:
Baby, you have to pay in this way or another In this life or in the next For as long as we've known each other You've been playing this game with death
One day, you will be tried On the execution line He'll strap you in, and you will fry Like fireworks on the 4th of July
Baby, you have to pay in this way or another Whether you can cry or not Oh, how sad to face the judgement Unprepared to meet your god
He will wear a rubber coat Shoot lightning through the vital veins They think that you emit the light But you only take it in
The man in uniform will come And he will stick it in the arm You'll scream out for your father And in darkness, I pray you will Never find him again
Everybody fries in Texas

Sis Anne DesitDeciding your fate was difficult. For the first 6 weeks, you were the frontrunner. But then you slipped... and kept falling. Throughout this competition, you proved that you possess a grand amount of creativity and originality, it's what made you a massive contender for the crown. Nevertheless, you're not entirely there yet. You have great potential for the future. For this competition however, it'd be a lie to tell you that you could still take home the crown. It's a race between Ordgie and Shiva at this point. Therefore... It is the end of the road for you. You will end this season as the third place. And now you must face your demise. Bye-bye. See you in hell.
