Pokimane: "Hello everybody! With Cobie Smulders, we are going to present this first phase of the Canadian selection, where three songs by Charlotte Cardin will compete against each other!"

Cobie: "Maybe we could have a musical introduction before presenting the songs?"

Pokimane: "But we have no singer here!"

Cobie: "Have you heard of Robin Sparkles? "

Pokimane: "..."

Cobie: "Don't tell me that you never listened to P.S. I love you..."

Pokimane: "..."

Cobie: "Well, Robin Sparkles is here, and please welcome her for her new version of her massive hit Let's go to the mall!"

Pokimane: "That was... interesting... Now maybe we could introduce Charlotte Cardin's songs?"

Cobie: "Sure!"

Pokimane: "The first song of the selection is Sad Girl, released on the 9th of April. Among the three songs of the selection, this is the one that is the closest to the style of Meaningless, especially during the last part, but the tone is a bit more melancholic."

Cobie: "Also from her debut album Phoenix, the second song, released only two weeks after Sad Girl, is the very beautiful and powerful ballad Anyone who loves me. If I hadn't already a husband, I would probably choose this song for my marriage..."

Pokimane: "This selection would not be complete without a song in French, because Charlotte has a completely different style in that language, much more intimate, quite similar to Coeur de Pirate or Pomme. The last song of this selection is Faufile, the one that made us spot her several years ago."

Rachelle Lefèvre: "Bonsoir, je suis Rachelle Lefèvre et avec Nina, nous avons le privilège de vous accueillir pour cette deuxième et dernière phase de la sélection canadienne !"

Nina Dobrev: "Welcome everybody to the final stage of the Canadian selection! You missed me soooo much, you can't imagine!"

Rachelle: "First of all, I'm very proud that a singer from my hometown, Montreal, won last edition of OSC, and gave us the honour to host the contest in our beautiful city! With a large majority, you decided that Charlotte Cardin's song for the ultmate stage of our selection would be Sad Girl!"

Nina: "The next participant is a colleague. For those who don't recognise her, you absolutely must watch the series Orphan Black, where Evelyne Brochu is playing one of the main characters. This show is absolutely amazing! But as you can see, Evelyne is also a talented singer. Her song is Maintenant ou jamais (Now or never)!"

Rachelle: "Our next singer is 22 years old but she has been singing for quite a while since she was only 15 when she participated to her first TV show, Next Star. A bit later she became more known when she participated to La Voix (French Canadian version of The Voice). Like Charlotte, Alicia speaks French but she mainly sings in English. Her song is Beautiful Scar..."

Nina: "Like me, the next singer was born in a different country. Zaho grew up in Algeria but after her both parents almost died during the civil war in the 90s, she came with them in Montreal at the age of 19. She will compete with Ma Lune (My Moon), a song dedicated to her son Naïm where she also evokes her roots."

Rachelle: "Our next singer is also from Montreal. Roxane Bruneau. Her song is about violence towards women. As she explains during the spoken introduction:

I wrote the song The Secret when I was 12. Since my album has been released, people have been asking if it's inspired from my own life and I lie, answering 'no'

She also says that after her divorce from Roxane's father, her mother met a man that was violent towards her (physically and mentally), then against Roxane when she tried to defend her. The song is a message saying that women shouldn't be ashamed of being victims and that there is a way out. All the copyrights of the song will be donated to an association."

Nina: "And finally, coming from Drummondville, here is Stéphanie Bédard, former participant to Star Académie and The Voice, and we can definitely say the she has a voice! Her song is Ensemble (Together)."

Rachelle: "That's all, guys! Thank you for watching the show and see you soon for the contest!"

A super-final will probably be organised tonight until the 6th of June, which is the deadline for the announcement of the entries. Of course the vote is still open and you are encouraged to support your favourite entry. The two (or maybe three) songs that will be ahead tonight will participate to the super-final!

We now have four sets of votes, and the results are still quite unclear. Three songs received significantly more votes than the others: Sad Girl, Maintenant ou jamais and Ma lune. The host song of 57th edition will be one of these three. You can vote for your favourite one in the poll above. We also decided to let the form open if you want to send a more complete vote. We will use these votes as well if the number of votes in the poll is low and the results too close to take a clear decision.
