Last week I've been listening to all the songs that are competing in Festival da Canção, but never posted it here lol. And yeah, I know that the first show has already been held, but let me do this anyway. So this is my top 20 of Festival da Canção 2022
1. Maro - Saudade, saudade
A very original song in a unique style. I like it a lot.
2. Fado Bicha - Povo Pequenino
A good and catchy song with interesting instrumental part. However rip in the semi final.
3. Cubita - Uma Mensagem Tua
It's a quite okay song although its instrumental annoys me.
4. Pongo & Tristany - Dégrá.dê
Oh, that's a creative idea.
A very original mix of 2 genres that have absolutely nothing to do with each other. However it unfortunately doesn't work 100 %. That's imo (attention: unpopular opinion) because especially the female vocalist is trying too much.
5. FF - Como É Bom Esperar Alguém
A very beautiful song that sounds also very old. But in a good way, I believe.
The singer has a good voice and Idk whether it's just me, but it somehow reminds me of the 2017 winner.
6. Jonas - Pontas Soltas
Another beautiful song, vocalized by a good male voice. However it's outdated.
7. Aurea - Why?
This is a beautiful ballad, but also a bit boring. Oh, and btw. was the repetition of "Why?" towards the end really needed?
8. Diana Castro - Ginger Ale
The song itself is okay, but both the instrumental as well as her voice are rather annoying.
9. Syro - Ainda nos Temos
This song isn't actually bad, but it really doesn't get me.
10. TheMisterDriver - Calisun
Uhm yeah ... it's there I guess. It's neither outdated nor modern and he's got an annoying voice so yeah ...
11. Os Quatro & Meia - Amanhã
This is a very unremarkable entry imo. THat's at least until the final part where they sing together because that part is just a mess.
12. Os Azeitonas - Solta a Voz e Canta
In this festival there are so many emotional sounding entries that this already sticks out for being happy. At least I guess it does because it doesn't reach me. Hopefully for them it's just because I don't understand the lyrics lol. The overall song isn't too outstanding either, I'm afraid.
13. O Vampiro Submarino - Ao Lado de Mim
First of all, I'm already confused at that artist name, lol.
And btw. that's also already where it all ends for me since I dislike his voice and the song is outdated af.
14. Valas & Os Astronautas - Odisseia
Okay, so this is an entry that suffers from just being out of my taste. The intro works for me, but then I'm like no thanks.
15. Pepperoni Passion - Código 30
It's a very unique idea to take part with a somewhat hip-hop-ish entry in a festival that mainly consists of jazz songs, haha. However just like the song above I'll have to place it down here just because for being not my music taste. Also there's something in it that sounds very 90s / 2000s to me.
16. Norton - Hope
This isn't for me. It has a weird instrumentalisation and his singing style doesn't get me either.
17. Inês Homem de Melo - Fome de Viagem
This song sounds awfully lot like it could be out of a movie of like the 50s. That's not a compliment here, however ... And random thought, but how old is she? Her voice sounded very annoying and thinking about it, also a bit like she was around 12 years old.
18. Kumpania Algazarra - A Minha Praia
Let me start off positively: I enjoy the trumpets in the instrumental. But then this song is very long - respectively that's what it feels like. In fact I had to skip at some point.
19. Blacci - Mar No Fim
Meh! She's giving a good vocal performance, but that doesn't change the fact that I find this a very boring song.
20. Milhanas - Corpo de Mulher
Yeah, I'm sorry, but this song is extremely boring and outdated af ...
Okay, so this was a very hard NS for me - as you can probably tell - with not too many songs that I like. But despite that, I'm actually happy that there's at least 1 NS that has also other genres than your everyday pop songs. But please ... like half of the songs are boring and / or outdated.
