NEW CALEDONIA HAS AN ANNOUNCEMENTNouméa, 21 Mai- After Marcus Gad had deja vu in Sapporo, placing in the bottom two in the semis for a second time in two participations, CanalSat Calédonie issued an ultimatum. Either the special collectivity would withdraw in Kyrgyzstan, or they would showcase genuine Kanaky culture in the quarter final. The decision would affect the strategy of the special collectivity for the foreseeable future. A number of Caldoches held protests in Nouméa and the surrounding suburbs regarding the vote, as each province of New Caledonia would get one vote, determined by the majority vote of the province, primarily because their population is heavily concentrated in the South Province, in Greater Nouméa. However, the broadcaster alongside Head of Delegation Miho Haeko, stood behind the voting method used.
Each province's results are as follows
| NORTH PR | SOUTH PR | LOYALTY ISL | TOTAL | FOR | 18,976 | 34,067 | 12,168 | 65,211 | AGAINST | 10,520 | 39,308 | 582 | 50,410 | ABSTAIN | 1,448 | 13,977 | 1,565 | 16,990 | TOTAL POP. | 49,910 | 203,144 | 18,353 | 271,407 | PERCENT VOTED | 62% | 43% | 78% | 48.86% | RESULT | YES | NO | YES | YES |
With 2 of the three provinces voting in favour of continuing participating in quarter finals, and using it as an opportunity to showcase genuine Kanaky culture, and a nearly 15,000 vote difference in preferences, New Caledonia will be present in the quarter final in Kyrgyzstan. The representative has been contacted, and their song has been selected. Now, we will introduce them to the rest of Asia and Oceania. YELOOkay there are no shots of the full band. This is the best I can do :sadcatwave:YELO is a musical trio originating the island of Maré, in the Loyalty Islands. The trio consists of two members from Maré, and one from Ouvéa. They released their first album, Noregu, in March of 2021, spearheaded by two singles, one being "Guadurehmu", and the other being their OASC track. All of their songs are written by member Jean-Louis Wamejo, and are performed in 2 (TWO) of the Kanaky languages: Nengone and Iaai. Now, let's introduce their entry in the Own Asiavision Song Contest.

The Special Collectivity of New Caledonia debuted in the twenty-first edition of the Own Asiavision Song Contest held in Sana'a with Caledonian Marcus Gad and the Parisian Tamal, finishing last in the semifinal with 34 points. In the edition following, the broadcaster held the first ever edition of Musique de Nouvelle-Calédonie à, which was won by Linda Terii with Tamahine O Te Moana. Linda finished 14th in the semifinal with 54 points. A second edition of Musique de Nouvelle-Calédonie à was held for the 23rd edition. The national final was won by Patricia Ségui and her song Le Voleur. Patricia brought the island nation so close to the final, finishing 11th in the semi with 54 points, missing out on the final by a single point. The final was finally achieved by Mickaël Pouvin in Daegu the next edition, where he stunned the nation by going from the last nation to make the final, only finishing ahead of Sheppard and their song Die Young by 2 points, to an automatic qualifier, finishing 5th, ensuring Tim Sameke's performance in the final in the 25th edition, where he finished dead last, only gaining a paltry 11 points. Musique de Nouvelle-Calédonie à was put on hold again for the 26th edition, as CanalSat Calédonie revealed that Sandy Factory would represent the nation with her song Dis moi, where she sadly placed 19th in the semi with a meger amount of 19 points, netting the special collectivity a spot in the pre-qualification round in Nadi, which was eventually cancelled due to a lack of participants. Mickaël Pouvin was tapped to represent the nation once again following this notice, where he once again was 10th in the semi, but wasn't able to recreate the success of his previous attempt, placing 22nd. Musique de Nouvelle-Calédonie à was revived in the 28th edition, with Aussie-Caledonian Chloë Black being tapped as the Caledonian representitive. Black ended up placing 10th in the final, winning the semi final by fifteen points over Timor Leste's Chong Kwong while on her path to the final. After 7 editions away, the first Caledonian representative in the contest, Marcus Gad, once again teamed up with Tamal for his song in the 29th edition. Sadly, deja vu struck, as the pair finished in 19th in the semi with 28 points. After some deliberation involving the Caledonian public, the nation returned to the 30th edition, sending Nengonese and Iaai talents Yelo to cap off the first decade of Caledonian participation in the contest.
