Priya Ragu set to represent Sri Lanka in Bishkek!
|
11 June 2022 • Colombo, Sri Lanka
|
|
Tamil-Swiss singer and songwriter Priya Ragupathylingam, better known by her stage name Priya Ragu will be representing Sri Lanka in Kyrgyzstan with her latest single 'Illuminous'! You know the name is damnshestamil...
|
Ragu, grounded by her roots in her own 'Raguwavy' world, is poised to achieve a major breakthrough and the next step in her ascent comes with the blissful new single 'Illuminous', which elevates the joyous vibe which makes her discography so special. Glossy R&B elements and the traditional Tamil beats take centre-stage. The accompanying video for ‘Illuminous’ was directed by Silence. In a playful yet surreal and stylised video, Priya is depicted as four different characters – each of which abstractly represents her personality, strength and confidence. Her lyrics flow effortlessly, buoyed by a chorus of voices, bright trumpets and an irresistible dancing beat. ‘Illuminous’ was written by Priya with production from her brother and creative collaborator Japhna Gold. Jump up, let your pop heart beat faster and move along to our upbeat anthem! SRI LANKA IN OWN ASIAVISION SONG CONTEST 30

Taiwan reveals their entry - She's finally here!
After reviewing hundreds of submissions, Taiwan Television (TTV) has announced today that Taiwanese indigenous singer Abao (Aljenljeng Tjaluvie) had been chosen to represent Taiwan at the jubilee Own Asiavision Song Contest 30 with the Paiwan-language song "Minetjus". Born in a Paiwan family in southeastern Taiwan, Abao started her career as part of a female duet in 2003. She then moved her focus from singing to album planning/producing while continuing to write songs. In 2016, Abao transitioned from a Mandopop singer into a Taiwanese indigenous R&B singer with her first Paiwanese album "Vavayan" being awarded the Golden Melody Awards for the best indigenous album and producer, bringing a great success on both indigenous and non-indigenous communities.
In addition to her singing career, Abao works as a host in a Taiwanese indigenous TV station since 2012, and has notably acted as the sole presenter of the Own Asiavision Song Contest 25 in Kaohsiung, the city she grew up in.

BANGLADESH TO GET LOST IN THE QF?
Dhaka, 12 June 2022 - After the disappointing result and relegation of the South Asian country to the quarterfinal, we have still decided to confirm for the milestone thirtieth edition most likely to be held in Kyrgyzstan because i am bound by contract as everyone is tired of seeing me withdraw every two editions.
For this edition's upcoming quarterfinal, an artist that has competed in the contest in the past has contacted BTV and expressed his interest in returning following Nusraat Faria's result in the semifinal.
Thus, we then inquired more about his possible return to OASC. After this inquiry, we eventually decided to proceed with this proposal and take a look on which song from his discography should we enter in the contest. Ultimately, we ended up with a song that came 4th in NNMC because the struggle is real.
Alas, BTV is ready to announce that Jai Wolf and Chelsea Jade will represent Bangladesh with the song "Lost" in the Own Asiavision Song Contest 30.
Sajeeb Saha, known professionally as Jai Wolf, is a Bangladeshi-American, New York-based electronic music producer. He is best known for his singles, "Indian Summer", "Like It's Over", and "Starlight". The latter song bringing the country a silver medal, just losing to Nikki Nikki, in the eighteenth edition.
Chelsea Jade Metcalf is a South African-born New Zealand singer-songwriter and record producer based in Los Angeles. Vice has described her as New Zealand's "Accidental Dream Pop Hero". In 2017, she was nominated for New Zealand’s Silver Scroll Award for song of the year for her song "Life of the Party". As a songwriter, Jade has written with numerous artists including The Chainsmokers (ouu that's not), Wet, and Attlas.
Taken from genius.com, it seems that Jai has said about the song: "Chelsea and I wrote this song as sort of an anthem for a generation of kids who feel disillusioned by the world around them. Feeling lost is something that never necessarily goes away. Even when you might think you’ve found your way, your perspective might shift and you may feel lost again. This song is about that cycle and our desire to escape it."
The song is also dedicated to the voters, whose tastes are lost and yet to be found, that decided to put us in the QF in the first place. Yes, we're still salty.
Together they hope to create the joint QF slay and not get lost in the NQ results video.
Jai Wolf also sends his best wishes to his good Judy Nikki Nikki in the ongoing Laobodian NF.
