NORWEGIAN ENTRY REVEALED! Oslo, Norway • 29 January 2023 NRK announced in a press conference that Norway would take part as the contest celebrates its 40th jubilee edition. The country will have to go through the Pre-Qualification-Round for the first time and an internal selection was decided to take place for the first time after 36 editions. Today the broadcaster announced the Norwegian entry.
AURORA & QING FENG WU • "STORM" Aurora Aksnes is no stranger to the contest. She alrady has brought 2 top 10 places for the country and was chosen to help the country in this hard phase of the competition. This time she will be joined by another artist on stage.
Qing Feng Wu is a Taiwanese singer-song writer, composer, arranger, and lyricist. Born in Taipei, he is a founding member and the lead vocalist of Oaeen (Sodagreen) and is the major composer and lyricist of the band.
This will be the first time Norway will sing in Mandarine - a different language other than Norwegian and English. The collaboration of Qing Feng and Aurora started in 2021, when Aurora was preparing for her album The Gods We Can Touch. The two were introduced and found that their musical tastes were very compatible; they worked on the creative process remotely for nearly a year before finally selecting "Storm" for release. During the final stages of production, the two met in the studio in Oslo, Norway, to complete the song.
Take me up, then keep me high Never let me go before you teach me how to fly
Written by Glen Roberts, Magnus Skylstad, Yeh Mei, Chen Howe and Aurora and Wu themselves - the official Norwegian entry in the North Vision Song Contest 40!

What a year in the shadows... LBC has revealed the act it is putting forward for the fortieth edition of the North Vision Song Contest. After Zef only managed to place seventeenth in the semi-final at the previous edition in Andorra, the country will be hoping for better luck in its bid to qualify from the Pre-Qualification Round and make it to the semi-finals in Athens.
Anou
Competing in the Pre-Qualification Round in Cardiff will be Anou, the musical alter-ego of Lebanese-American musician and singer-songwriter Anwar Bizri (he/him). Whilst he may only now be stepping into the limelight of the Lebanese musical scene, Bizri brings with him years of experience of songwriting and performance from a multi-instrumental background, having found a voice through song and musical expression from an early age.
« Strange Goodbyes »
Anou's entry for NVSC #40 is the self-written, English-language track "Strange Goodbyes", co-produced by the artist himself alongside Etyen (Lebanon #36). Following thematically in the same vein as Zef's "Leish Baddi Eb'a", the song deals with the theme of separation, examining the different goodbyes forced on the people of an oppressed nation, and their coming to terms with both the grief and the new reality it brings. "Strange Goodbyes" is an ultra-relevant and current reflection on the collective experience of the Lebanese people, yet lyrically it resonates deeply far beyond the country as well.
Offering a real change of pace from the rest of the PQR lineup, "Strange Goodbyes" melds earnest performances by the artist on vocals and piano, and a lo-fi, serene production, with crescendos of strings and brass. The track is the first glimpse into Anou's forthcoming album Radius, heralding the start of a musical journey into the artist's sonic universe.
« "Strange Goodbyes" may be a bold choice for the Pre-Qualification Round, but we're not ones to shy away from risk. Whether it pays off or not is a different question, but whatever happens, we're proud to be opening the Pre-Qualification Round – and seeing in a new North Vision decade at the same time – and, as always, to be showcasing the diversity that Lebanon's music scene has to offer. We hope you like it! »
Will "Strange Goodbyes" make it to Greece? It won't be long before we find out.
Lebanon's NVSC journey made the best possible start as Nicole Saba won for the country on their debut in the fifth edition with 'Hafdal Ahlam', bringing the contest to Beirut for the sixth edition and starting a (to this day unmatched) three-edition qualification streak. The country's results from then on were rather turbulent, including two four-edition streaks of non-qualifications, although Myriam Fares achieved Lebanon's second best result with 'Nifsi Aoulhalak' in the fourteenth edition - second place.
A new delegation stepped in for the twenty-fourth edition, bringing Lebanon back to the final with Nelly Makdessy's 'Kunt Atmanna' in Vienna, and achieving three top ten results for the country (with 'Call Me a Stranger', '22' and 'Dear Jealousy') before passing the baton on to the current delegation team for the thirty-fourth edition onwards, returning to the final - and to the top ten - with Azure Ryder's 'Stronger'.
Brought to you by the Lebanese delegation on 29th January 2023

Icelandic entry reveal!11 February 2023 • Reykjavík, Iceland RÚV has just revealed the artist that will represent Iceland in Athens. The artist and song were selected in early January, and despite numerous attempts, the Icelandic gays did not manage to leak the song before the scheduled announcement date of February 11th 2023. They came close, by almost leaking the artists' name, but not close enough I'm afraid...
The HoD of Iceland, Snæbjörn Brjánsson, described the selected artist as a "gem" and he stated that it was an honour to be represented by such an "elegant" singer. We wonder who he was referring to. Actually, you don't need to wonder because you can read it below!Laufey will represent Iceland! Laufey Lín Jónsdóttir, known by the mononym Laufey, is an Icelandic singer-song writer and multi-instrumentalist. She was born on April 23, 1999 in Reykjavík to an Icelandic father and Chinese mother from Guangzhou. She comes from a musical family as her mother is a classical violinist, while her grandfather was a violin educator at the Central Conservatory of Music in China. She also has an identical twin sister named Junia. Laufey currently resides in Los Angeles.
Laufey first performed at age 15 as part of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, she took part in the show Ísland Got Talent, the Icelandic equivalent of America's Got Talent and managed to end as a finalist. Her breakthrough however came in 2020 with the release of her first single, Street by Street which charted at #1 on the Icelandic radio charts. She released her first EP Typical of Me shortly after in 2021 and performed in the London Jazz Festival. On August 26th 2022 (wowwww my bday) she released her debut album Everything I Know About Love to critical acclaim.
Laufey had been rumoured to participate for Iceland for quite some time now. It was revealed that Laufey was shortlisted for North Vision Song Contest 39, but she decided not to go ahead with it due to personal reasons. RÚV offered her another chance this edition, and she happily accepted the offer, stating that:
I am looking forward to sharing my music on the North Vision stage. I've been a fan of the contest for quite some time, despite our unfortunate string of results lately. I'm here to represent my country and to share my music, the end result doesn't really matter.
Take a listen to her entry:"Fragile"performed by Laufey produced by: Laufey lyrics: Laufey Timeslot: 3:05+ (subject to change)
The Icelandic delegation (me & Agni) encourage you to listen to the song in full too.We wish the best of luck to Laufey in Athens!

Η διοργανώτρια επιλέγει! Host entry revealed After some time, while ERT, the Greek broadcaster, initially revealed the country would choose their entrant through a national selection, later due to budget cuts they decided that it would be better for the nation to choose internally. The delegation made the decision between 5 shortlisted songs, and 70 people from the public all around the nation, had the chance to listen and rank the songs privately. In the end the result was very clear, as the winning song managed to collect most first places of the voters, therefore getting the right to represent the nation.
Ina Gayardi is a Greek-Bulgarian singer and songwriter. Born on November 23rd, 1999, the 23 year-old singer, currently lives in Bulgaria where she persues her music career. Ina Gayardi's real name is Hristina Grigoriadou, born in Greece, but at the age of 5 she came to live in Bulgaria with her mother. Hristina grew up in the town of Pravets, far from the lights of the big city, but her musical education took her to Sofia. She graduated with a degree in Business management. Her choice of this educational program is quite deliberate, because she believes that a person’s musical talents are nothing without their proper “serving” on the music market. A few years ago, Gayardi participated in the musical reality show “X Factor”, managing to go until the judge's cuts. After several offers to work with major music companies in Bulgaria, Gayardi chose to work with Adamant Records because they are the only ones who show her that there are no impossible things and because they are the only ones that made her outdo herself and even jump higher than she ever thought she could. Within a year, Hristina Grigoriadu changed her lifestyle, she fully understood what hard work means and today she is proud of herself and the person she has become. On February 12, he was announced as the next Greek representative in the upcoming jubilee, fortieth North Vision Song Contest held in Athens. After a long procedure she was chosen to represent the host nation with her song “Predatel”. Ina Gayardi was chosen after an intense voting procedure inside the Greek headquarters, where 70 people all around Greece, had the chance to listen and rank 5 shortlisted songs chosen by the broadcaster. Gayardi was the name on everyone's lips, as she managed to get most of the top ranking scores, making her the (un)official winner of the selection.
Gayardi finally was contacted by the Greek broadcaster announcing officially that she was chosen as the representative of the host nation, with her accepting the offer to represent Greece in home-soil. Her song "Predatel", is a bilingual song in Bulgarian and Greek, which means "Traitor" making this the first time the nation will be represented by any other European language besides Greek and English.
