ⵎⴻⵕⵕⵓⴽ ⵢⴻⵏⵏⴰ-ⴷ ⵀⴻⵢ ⴰ ⴱⴰⴱⴰ! Morocco says hey daddy! Salé, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, 27 March 2024
Manal and Ghali in a promotional photo for Moroccan Music Festival 7, where they competed with the song “Baba”
Following the conclusion of yet another an incredibly competitive national final, the artists that took the crown in the Moroccan selection, and will be flying to Budva are Manal and Ghali. Manal Benchlikha is no stranger to Northvision, as she represented Morocco in NVSC 29 with "Pas le choix," where she sadly failed to qualify to the final. Since then, she has launched her career into a new stratosphere, having released her first album, releasing a streetwear collection, was featured on a song for the 2022 World Cup, and was a featured performance on COLORS, where she performed "3ARI." She's going to be joined by Ghali Amdouni, known mononymously by his first name, an Italian rapper born to Tunisian parents. The rapper, despite having released several songs since 2013, blew up into international notoriety during his participation in 2024's edition of Sanremo. While participating with his song "Casa mia," his song drew attention for a lyric referencing hospital bombings, and was accused of anti-Israeli propaganda. He also made calls to stop the genocide and demanded a ceasefire, which caused the Israeli ambassador to accuse him of using his platform to spread hate. His outspoken support for the Palestinian people earned praise from the president of the Association of Palestinians in Italy. "Casa mia" would finish fourth in the competition. The pair will fly the Moroccan flag in Budva with the song "BABA."
Manal said that "BABA" isn't just a song, but rather "it's an intimate memoir, a stirring homage to [my] late father that transcends melody and verse." Through verses pulsating with determination, Manal unfolds the narrative of resilience - a woman navigating life's tumults, anchored by faith, destiny, and an unwavering resolve. The song's essence extends beyond its poignant lyricism; its hypnotic rhythm invites listeners into its compelling narrative. The visual composition of the ‘BABA’ music video is a testament, a mosaic blending Moroccan cultural motifs with tradition and modernity. Listening to ‘BABA’ is an immersion - a sonic voyage entwined with memories, emotions, and fervent passions.
In an interview with 2M, the pair said that they are overjoyed to be representing Morocco on this level. Manal said that "even though I didn't qualify in Dublin, it was such a great experience. I've grown so much as an artist since then, and I feel like now is the perfect time to get back to this stage." Ghali also said that "I was in talks with Télévision Tunisienne 1 about potentially representing them, but 2M came calling first. It's just an honour to showcase my abilities at such a prestigious competition."
Khazali said that representing Morocco at an international stage like this "is everything I could've ever hoped for and more. This was the third time I had submitted any of my songs to represent a nation, but the first time for Morocco. Around the releases of "Passion Controller" and "Comfort", I sent both in to the BBC, and both of them made the shortlist to compete in Your Decision, but nothing came up of that. To be able to have my song represent my mother's nation at this sort of level is a dream come true. I'm so excited to get to finally showcase my art at the highest of levels."

| Ukraine invites you for Malanka! |
The twenty-fifth edition of "Pivnichbachennya Vidbir Natsionalii" has been completed. That means that Ukraine is ready to announce its entry to the contest in Budva!
Alina Pash is a well-known and respected singer and rapper from Bushtyno, Zakarpattia Oblast. In her songs, she discusses various social issues, including: gender equality. Pash also actively participates in an educational media campaign that aims to actively fight against the stigmatization of LGBTQ people and violence directed against them.
As Alina Pash says about her song:
There was a folk song that I was taught to sing in the village of Ispas, Chernivtsi region. It was sung on the night of the Malanka holiday, on the Generous Evening. There is a wise man in Ispas, Muzyka, who looks like a very nice mustachioed fellow, who can play a glass like a flute, knows probably a trillion Hutsul songs, and makes the most amazing Malanka in all of Ukraine. I promised myself that I would record the song that had been stuck in my head for a long time.
Listen below to the Ukrainian entry for the North Vision Song Contest #43, "Malanka"!

Lamia will represent Bosnia & Herzegovina!
Official announcement from BHRT BHRT officially announced that the next artist to represent Bosnia & Herzegovina in North Vision Song Contest #43, Lamija Badžak, known as just Lamia, has been internally selected to represent the country in the competition. After a spectacular presence in the grand final of the last edition, as an automatic finalist, the interest in representing Bosnia & Herzegovina remained increased both from big names of Balkan music scene, but also from many newcomers, young talents wanting to showcase Bosnian music industry. After Seka Aleksić's, Ermina's and Pahor's presence in the grand finals of North Vision Song Contest, several labels have been interested in supporting the act that would represent Bosnia & Herzegovina. The broadcaster has shown interest in working with labels such as IDJ, Bassivity, Balkaton, 3PM, Generacija Zed, etc. The internally selected artist, Lamia, will be supported by IDJ.
Who is Lamia? Lamija Badžak, musically known as just Lamia, is a young singer from Konjic, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Her first song, Tango, released in 2020, was only the beginning for her musical journey. She ended up working with famous names of the region, such as Edita or Sanja Vučić, who composed her song Skinuli. Lamia has been in love with music since her childhood, which is evidenced by the fact that she started performing at musical and cultural events, but also by the fact that she graduated from a music school. She has been influenced by favourite artists such as Magazin, Nina Badrić, Saša Kovačević, Hurricane, Dino Merlin, Zdravko Čolić, etc.
The official entry She will perform one of her latest singles, 3, 4 Sad! (Eng. 3, 4, Now!), a pop song with clear influences from the Balkan band Hurricane. It is described by an energetic sound, with catchy melody and provocative lyrics about a toxic relationship. The unusual title of the song refers to an expression related to the idea of counting, of initiating the start of a race, for example, similar to "1, 2, 3, go!". We wish Lamia the best of luck in the upcoming edition of the contest! Učinite Bosnu i Hercegovinu ponosnom!

| Lithuania has chosen their entry! |
Following a very uncertain period, dedicating time for deciding the Lithuanian participation in the forty-third edition of the contest, it was finally revealed that the Baltic country would appear in the participants list. On 29th of March, one day before the scheduled announcement of the entry, it was decided to reveal the Lithuanian hopeful for the edition in Budva.
Without any further ado, it is my pleasure to announce that one of the best young vocalists in the country is going to represent Lithuania this edition and it is none other than... PAULINA PAUKŠTAITYTĖ!
Paulina Paukštaitytė is a Lithuanian singer coming from Marijampolė, the capital of Sudovia region, located in the south of the country. Since a very young age Paulina was immersed in singing competitions all over the country, winning a variety of them. At the age of 18 she auditioned for "The Voice of Lithuania", ultimately being paired up with another North Vision Song Contest participant, KAIA, coming 4th. After her participation in The Voice, she released some singles, notably "Jeigu Nori" with a famous Lithuanian music producer Leon Somov. In 2023, Paulina Paukštaitytė participated in the Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision, coming 5th with her song "Let Me Think About Me". Shortly after that, the vocalist signed a contract with Universal Music, leading up to a release of her new album "11 Raidžių". Paulina is not a newbie in the NVSC stage as well, since she came 3rd in the fifteenth edition of Nordish Melodi Grand Prix with her song "Jei Nebūtume Susitikę" as well as being the runner-up in the fifth edition of Lietuvos Garsai, which allowed her to represent the country in the OGAN Second Chance contest, eventually bringing a 6th place for the Baltic country. For the 43rd edition of the contest, Paulina is continuing the Lithuanian language streak with her song "Bučiuok", translated as "Kiss (Me)". "Bučiuok" talks about the total freedom of love and intimacy that is desired, focusing on a current moment, without thinking of when it is going to end. The song marks the 24th occasion of Lithuanian language in the North Vision Song Contest.PAULINA PAUKŠTAITYTĖ"BUČIUOK"LITHUANIAN ENTRY FOR THE NORTH VISION SONG CONTEST 43Music & Lyrics: Jānis Jačmenkins, Paulina Paukštaitytė, Vilius Popendikis 2:33+As a Head of Delegation, I hope "Bučiuok" reaches your playlists and satisfies the music tastes, wishing Paulina best of luck in Budva to continue the Lithuanian qualification streak! Azerbaijani entry announcement
AzTV has officially announced Azerbaijan's artist and song for the North Vision Song Contest 43.
Alekpervi (Alakbar Alakbarov) is a hip-hop performer hailing from Azerbaijan. Having began releasing self-written tracks in 2020, the young artist's breakthrough came the following year when he signed a record deal with the music label “Seismic Unity”. Working professionally with a new team, he managed several new achievements including the release of his first music video. Despite being labelled as a new favourite of the local rap scene, Alekpervi continues to challenge himself in various musical styles and demonstrate his artistry.
From all the applicants presented to AzTV in February of this year, only five were chosen to be auditioned live. At the end, Alekpervi was selected to represent Azerbaijan in Montenegro with the song “Negative”, written and produced by the artist himself together with Vugarixx.
