Team Family Season 9: Episode 6 - Love Is In The Air
Estrogennifer
"Mama's Eyes"METTE"Mama's Eyes" is a euphoric mix of R&B and pop that explores the idea of safety amid chaos and the duality of loving the freedom and independence of living your dream while yearning for the haven that a mother or mother figure provides. You say keep my promises but I don't I should probably listеn more, yeah, mother, I know I just wanna be dancing again I know I'm to blame, I gotta heal these scars on my own I should learn to listen more, yeah, mother, I know I just wanna be dancing again I knowAs someone with a strong maternal presence in my family, I find comfort and reassurance even from thousands of kilometers away, in Paris. The song resonates deeply with me, reflecting my own experience of balancing the euphoria of pursuing my dreams with the longing for the nurturing and stability my mother has always given me.Lyrics
Woah I am who I ams Love it or leave it, baby
While you reminisce, I've been gone Two years and the fortnight I'm friends with the low-lives I'm drunk tryna get high Still waiting to exhale Come out of the shadows Five feet, barely three quarters In your stilettos Like pineapple Mentos Your favorite confection I'm sweet like your perfume Strong like your mind is Your skin dripping richness, tend to your flowers without a mention You won your wars, you laid down your sword then gave me the weapon
You say keep my promises but I don't I should probably listеn more, yeah, mother, I know I just wanna bе dancing again I know I'm to blame, I gotta heal these scars on my own I should learn to listen more, yeah, mother, I know I just wanna be dancing again I know
Don't it feel good? Don't it feel right? When you come home to Home to mama's eyes Don't you feel good? Full up with pride Seeing yourself in Self in mama's eyes
I am who I ams
You are every woman Whitney and Chaka No one can ever Be put above you (Yeah) I always believe in you, open my eyes if you say it's alright Now I'm here at Heathrow, sunken and see through, tryna catch my flight Hush now, she's speaking Preaching her sermon (Yeah) The golden rule is to never lose yourself for a person Bebe and Cece play in our kitchen Say mama, you in daddy's hoodie swinging your hips while you do the dishes
You say keep my promises but I don't I should probably listen more, yeah, mother, I know I just wanna be dancing again I know
Don't it feel good? Don't it feel right? When you come home to Home to mama's eyes Don't you feel good? Full up with pride Seeing yourself in Self in mama's eyes
Love it or leave it, baby Tess Tpusi
"Slowly" Mortimer
Family isn’t just who you are born into: it’s also who you make of it. “Slowly” is a track that captures the unwavering adoration that Mortimer has for his wife. Love is something that goes beyond the surface, and with lyrics such as “The things I like about you most are / Way beyond what eyes can see,” Mortimer puts his adoration, and even obsession, with his wife, on display for the whole world to see.
Your vibe is like a gentle breeze, you Make me feel all kinds of things The things I like about you most are Way beyond what eyes can see I must be honest, though, I really Like it when you love me slowly Love me slowly
Hey, I'll bring some water to your garden Genie inna flesh, I'll grant your wishes In exchange for your time
The sun isn't the only thing that can rise Neither is it nearly as bright as yuh smile Damn, girl, I'm smitten by your grace I'm really amazed In each other's gaze
Love the way I fit inna yuh space Put me in my place, girl Never in a haste, twirl Your vibe is like a gentle breeze, you Make me feel all kinds of things The things I like about you most are Way beyond what eyes can see I must be honest, though, I really Like it when you love me slowly Love me slowly
Girl, mi love it when yuh look in my eyes and tek it all Introduce yuh to some different style, you get it all Give up everything, tek me heart but in return Yuh haffi promise fi never give it up, but anyhow Fling it back, me love when yuh mek up yuh face Yuh passionate, mi si seh yuh nuh hesitate Know yuh kinda shy but still yuh deh pon any ting Standing at attention to the tempo weh you swing Your vibe is like a gentle breeze, you Make me feel all kinds of things The things I like about you most are Way beyond what eyes can see I must be honest, though, I really Like it when you love me slowly Love me slowly

"PAPA" Mélanie Roux
When I was growing up fathers or father figure were rarely potrayed positively. In shows I watched they mostly were used as the comic relief or were just straight up neglectful. Which is why I have decided to send this song where Melanie sings about how no matter what her father will be there for her.
Lyrics
When the sky turns gray you're always there dad When I'm hurting in life it's you who heals dad And if courage has a price it's you who wins dad When I fall into the void I know that you catch me at the bottom And even if today I become a woman I will remain forever his baby He would cross thousands of flames, his love never goes out
Oh dad, of all men there's only you who has never doubted me Oh dad Oh dad, of all men there's only you who has never doubted me Oh dad
And when I imagine myself without you, I'm afraid dad Life is not like in the movies, you've told me 100 times And in his arms like at home Even if I lose my mind His love is seasonless He will always love me strongly
And even if today I become a woman I will remain forever his baby He would cross thousands of flames, his love never goes out Oh dad, of all men there is only you who has never doubted me Oh dad Oh dad, of all men there is only you who has never doubted me Oh dad

TEAM ROMANTIC S9 E6: Love Is In The Air Connecting theme: Romantic Love
Song 1: Wolf Alice - "Don't Delete The Kisses" ( Eva)
Song 2: Sleeping At Last - Bloom (Eros)" (Mel)
Song 3: Amanda Tenfjord - Plans" (Toylet)
For this episode, Team Romantic want to show you judges the evolution of romantic relationships and the ways they can end.
We start with Eva's submission, which is symbolic to Eva as it represents the start of their current relationship, in which Eva crushes on her partner for a long time, and this song echoes that sentiment. Eva's song for our group idea is all about the beginning of a relationship, the crushing and the eventual getting together, of which every relationship has to do.
Mel's submission is the good ending of a relationship, realising you are soulmates and after marrying, declaring your love for each other and how much you'd do to still be with that person. Delcarations of love are simple, emotional things, so the string instrumentation used here echoes that simplicity, whilst helping provide all the emotion the lyrics provide.
However, Toylet's submission here is the bad end of a relationship, ending in a break up. Not all romantic relationships are meant to be, and this submission deals with a quieter breakup and an almost civil decision, even if there is still feelings on one side as many break ups happen to have.

Season 9 Episode 6 Team: Friendship Our team has decided to go with a storyline that explores important yet casual pinpoints of what makes a friendship: from the beginning, and the ups and downs of a friendship. In our findings, we found that our pinpoints of this storyline is under-represented, especially the downs of friendship, which is portrayed below. Kuchi-san "Preferisco Te" by CARA ft. Chadia Rodriguez
"Preferisco te" or "I prefer you", the song of my choice, explores the theme of the beginning of a new friendship by telling a story about various experiences and preferences against the emerging significance of a new person in the singer's life. The lyrics illustrate a contrast between the singer's current life, filled with chaotic and somewhat rebellious experiences ("Pillola blu, pillola rossa," "Preferisco il fumo alle ciminiere") and the impact of a new connection. This person acknowledges past mistakes and unconventional choices, hinting at a desire for change or something new. They repeated "Preferisco te" (I prefer you) toward this new person, which we can understand a shift in priorities, highlighting how this new relationship is favored over past behaviors or superficial experiences. The song also reflects on how this new friendship stands out against the backdrop of past disappointments and relationships, like they compares the new person with past partners or experiences ("Sei quasi il mio nuovo ex, ma ora preferisco te"). Despite the presence of past complexities or issues, the new connection feels more authentic and desirable.
~Kuchi-san~ | LYRICS
Pillola blu, pillola rossa
Poco normal, poco importa
Per raddrizzare la mia luna storta
Ho dovuto farne qualcuna sporca
Preferisco il mio quartiere
Per gente per niente per bene
Le finte bionde alle stronze vere
Preferisco il fumo alle ciminiere
Baci da Giuda, schiena sui muri
Cinque minuti, con gli occhi chiusi
Cuori spezzati sotto i vestiti
Dieci carati dentro i rifiuti
Entri, io esco a fumare-mare
Rimmel che cola in un mare, mare
Se torno dentro non sento più te
Chiamami, chiamami
Felici mai come Lèon
Preferisco
Na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na
Preferisco
Na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na

Maxima XCX "Life Could Be Sweet" by Ayla D'Lyla and Miss Madeline
"Life Could Be Sweet" by Ayla D'Lyla and Miss Madeline explores the highs and lows of friendship, capturing the joy and support friends bring into our lives. The upbeat tempo and catchy lyrics highlight the positive aspects of camaraderie, celebrating how friends can make life feel vibrant and sweet. However, beneath the surface, the song also hints at the darker side of social interactions, subtly warning about the potential for peer pressure to lead to harmful behaviors, such as drug use. Through its dual themes, the song serves as both an ode to the benefits of friendship and a cautionary tale about the risks of succumbing to negative influences within social circles.
~Maxima XCX~ | LYRICS
"Hey"
"Hey"
"What are you up to?"
"Hm, not mush"
"So I heard of this place and it sounds like a dream"
"Let's go!"
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Sometimes I just wanna get away (away, away)
To a better place, we can misbehave (woah, woah)
I know where we can disappear
A galaxy away from here
Candy colored skies, super hot guys
And we can get high all day
There's magic in your eyes
Tequila sunrise
Where the pretty girls come to play
Life can be sweet if you want it (ah-ah-ah-ah)
And baby, I got it
Cherry on top, sugar-coated don't stop
Life can be sweet if you want it (ah-ah-ah-ah)
And baby, I got it
Cherry on top, sugar-coated don't stop
Don't you wanna see my secret fantasy (woah, woah)
Cause I swear when you're here
You're never gonna wanna leave (leave)
There must be something in the air
I see glitter everywhere
Candy colored skies, super hot guys
And we can get high all day
There's magic in your eyes
Tequila sunrise
Where the pretty girls come to play
Life can be sweet if you want it (ah-ah-ah-ah)
And baby, I got it
Cherry on top, sugar-coated don't stop
Life can be sweet if you want it (ah-ah-ah-ah)
And baby, I got it
Cherry on top, sugar-coated
Walk around in my string bikini
With a lemon martini
Hop in my convertible
Let's go to Waikiki
My string bikini
With a lemon martini
Hop in my convertible
Lets go to Waikiki
Candy colored skies, super hot guys
There's magic in your eyes
Tequila sunrise
Life can be sweet if you want it
And baby, I got it
Cherry on top, sugar-coated don't stop
Life can be sweet if you want it
And baby, I got it
Cherry on top, sugar coated
Walk around in my string bikini
With a lemon martini
Hop in my convertible
Let's go to Waikiki
My string bikini
With a lemon martini
Hop in my convertible
Lets go to Waikiki
Ah-ah-ah-ah
"Wow, that was so much fun"
"We need to come back like, tomorrow" (ah-ah-ah-ah)
"I know, right"
"Let's do it!"

Miz Bulge Area "End Of A Friendship" by Julia Jacklin
At the core of "End of a Friendship" are Jacklin's introspective lyrics, which paint a vivid picture of a relationship that's slowly unraveling. The song's narrative is both personal and universal, resonating with anyone who has experienced the gradual drifting apart from someone they once held dear. Jacklin's words are tender yet powerful, each line laden with emotion as she recounts memories and moments that now seem distant and unattainable. The song follows the timeline of a last meeting with a friend where one side is acting distant and cold. The song culminates in the second verse where the friendship is ultimately broken. The other side "listed the things about [the lyrical character] she didn't like". In situations like these, you feel powerless. The thought of being abandoned by a person whom you have trusted, and the fact that this is entirely out of your control, can seem like the end of the world in this exact moment. The character "stood there in silence, accepted [their] fate", having felt the weight in their stomach. The song culminates in a poignant guitar solo where Jacklin's adlibs, conveying sadness and desperation, can be heard.
~Miz Bulge Area~ | LYRICS
The night started out well
She was having fun, far as I could tell
I paid for the meal, then went up to bed
Lay there wondering what's happening in her head
I put it all down to the heat and wine
We don't have to agree all of the time
Remember she wants to be by your side
Be by your side
All my love is spinning 'round the room
If only it would land on something soon
Woke up to hear her say
That she couldn't stand it, that she couldn't stay
Out here on the road, it didn't feel right
Shе listed the things about me shе didn't like
I sat there in silence, accepted our fate
We always found it hard to relate
To what we both want and what we both need
And who we both want to be
All my love is spinning 'round the room
If only it would land, plant and bloom
All my love is spinning 'round the room
If only it would land on something soon
But all my words are caught up in a cloud
You know someday you'll have to say them out loud
