Our first queen is Kuchi-San ( david). Jelena Karleuša:I loved this song. i'm a sucker for songs that combine traditional music with electronic elements. great job. Jojo Siwa:I personally do not care for this song much but I admit this would be insane in a live setting. It’s a great choice for the challenge too, although a bit obvious. Marina Satti:Personally I love this song a lot. Even if it’s been in contests, idrgaf, the song bangs and that’s what matters the most!! Andrélle:I love this song; I don't care if it's been in other contests. No complaints—great job! JuPaul:A bit torn about this. On the one hand, it's a great song. On the other hand, I previously asked you to step away from well-known contest entries and this is another overused song. Rightfully so of course, but still, I'd love to see some truly original & unique song choices from you. The reason I point this out is because it's now been the 3rd or 4th time. I'm not some originality extremist, I said nothing at first and glanced over it, but we're in Week 8 now and this is now the second time I've said this so I would like to see you implement that critique to show a different side of you. Either way, lovely song x |

Next we have Miz Bulge Area ( alex(a)bg). JuPaul:Shoulda stuck with the Elyanna song I'm afraid. I've never quite connected with Saint Levant's music. Although I can see that he has an interesting artistic vision, most of his songs just don't... sound good to me? This particular song was pretty boring and low-energy. The tools for a great song were there, the traditional elements, the rap and everything, but it just didn't go all the way and gave 50% instead. Marina Satti:Had you left your first song, you’d be so much higher than this song. It isn’t bad, but at this point any detail matters. Jelena Karleuša:While i quite liked the song, it just didn't really stand out to me. i also felt like it was a very safe and expected choice at a point of the competition where being unique and taking risks is necessary to give yourself an edge over the rest of the competition. Jojo Siwa:This is a new track for me from Saint Levant, but this track didn’t grab me musically like the rest. It’s definitely not bad though, just pleasant. It’s a good choice for the challenge overall, too. Andrélle:Father!! An absolute bop with amazing instrumentation. My favorite this week—great job! |

Moving on to Daremyth ( Aglan)! Andrélle:Bop! I really enjoyed this. It felt very different from the other songs, especially the other Lina song. Great job overall, keep it up!! Marina Satti:I'm so glad you managed to pull through again from last week, your entry was amazing and it paid off. I’m officially the biggest Daremyth stan don’t let me down!! JuPaul:This was quite a bop! Not the best song ever, as the chorus could've been a bit better, but very solid, the instrumentation was pretty catchy! Jojo Siwa:YES! This song the hell off, genuinely made me want to get up and dance. It’s always a lovely surprise when a whopper like that has really great lyrics and meaning too. Jelena Karleuša:This was such a banger through and through. unfortunately you did end up being one-upped by your fellow contestant with a song by the same artist, though this is still an incredible song nonetheless. |

We're halfway through as we talk to Maxima XCX ( agni)! Jojo Siwa:I really like this chorus a lot, specifically the melody. Itches my brain just right. The verses lose me a bit, but still a solid entry. JuPaul:I thought this was a cute choice. Moving lyrics and nice overall. Maybe not the most memorable song though, I had to re-listen to it just before writing this critique because I forgot what it sounded like. Glad that you didn't send a super well-known singer though! Andrélle:This was very cute, but it was a bit boring at times. In a week as strong as this, it just didn't stand out much to me. Jelena Karleuša:it's just an okay song, which unfortunately doesn't cut it at this point of the competition. it sounds like i've heard several songs with the exact same sound and structure before. Marina Satti: aaaaand we’re back.. I can’t say I enjoyed this a lot, but it wasn’t your worse choice you’ve made so far. It’s just the competition has been tight as of this week and every detail might affect you. Still nice work. |

The penultimate queen is Mel A Tonin ( Matt)! Marina Satti:I enjoyed your song so much. It was such a moment for me. You know your stuff and it shows, you can pull through and get back up and this is what a true fighter does! Congrats on a great week!! JuPaul:I really liked this song! The song's meaning is intriguing and although it wasn't the most adventurous sound, I liked what I was hearing. My main gripe with this is that it's way too short? Not even two minutes long? It sounds like it's ending halfway through, come on now Miss Nemahsis... Andrélle:Not a bad song, but I felt it was too short and lacked the Arabic language/influence that the others had. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, it made the song a less interesting choice to me overall. Jelena Karleuša:it's just much too short of a song which is really a shame because i actually really liked it. it just ends way too early and doesn't leave enough of an impact as a result. Jojo Siwa:This is quite solid, but the ending was a bit too soon and left me wanting a bit more. There’s a few more things I could nitpick, but I overall enjoyed it |

And finally, it's time for Estrogennifer ( Alper)! Jelena Karleuša:wow. a very, very powerful and moving song. sending a song without any lyrics is definitely a huge risk but i think it payed off very well for you this week. JuPaul:Oh wow oh wow... This was a really original submission. Was it the same artist that Daremyth sent first? Sure. But this composition is the art that Sasha Velour was talking about. It conveyed a lot of emotion without saying a single word, which is very impressive. Well done! Andrélle:Wow, that was so powerful. Great choice, and as I mentioned earlier, I love how the two Lina songs contrast with each other. Jojo Siwa:For the first 45 seconds I thought it was an intro to another banger, then for another 20 seconds I was a bit confused, and THEN it hit me. Absolutely incredible, and the vocal talent displayed in this is insane. My favorite of the week for sure. Marina Satti:a great choice once again! Sending the same artist with another player can be tricky, but both managed to pull through. It was a great week! |
