Last forum post of 2022! (mainly cuz it’s 7pm where I live rn)

I don’t really have much of a resolution at the moment, but I do have some things I’d like to leave behind in 2022. I hope I can go into this new year with a positive mindset, so I can embrace and endure whatever time sends forth my way in 2023.

And of course, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Already wrote this on Discord, but lets put this out here as well since i do not know a better place for this post anyways and i feel everyone i could possibly reach should hear this
And this will all come straight from the bottom of my heart

So with the closing of NNMC (understandably ofc), it got me thinking...

I know most of us are not kids anymore and we are all growing up, but growing up is so scary at times i stg, which is why i cannot help but feel a little bit worried 

I sincerely hope i am not watching the end of this amazing community and online contests within a few years because i have noticed a lot of them closing recently and it is what makes me worried the most right now  and especially with the two of my absolute favorite contests closing in relatively short time as well (NNMC and FoM)

Like i have grown into this community and grown to love each and every single one of you amazing people over the years and i am not ready to let it all go in the slightest
Have i ever felt this way for a contest before outside of ESC? I would say definitely not lol and it just goes to show what it and all of this means

That contest and the whole community of SCF people especially have taught me so much over the years and for the first time in my life in like forever i actually feel like a part of something much greater. I never felt like that in school for example because i was bullied for most of those years, but ever since i joined this community of ESC fans, i felt right at home and everyone was so accepting of everyone no matter who they were.

This forum and its community has always been, for me atleast, the greatest platform to discover great pieces of music from all over the world, meet new people i can even call my friends these days and also to have a lot of fun with my fellow ESC fans taking part in different types of contests and such and nothing will ever come even remotely close to that feeling i have had being a part of this community for over 8 years now

Which is why i sincerely hope this community can last for as long as possible and we can all stay together and keep on making amazing moments and memories with an incredible community of people! 

And on my behalf, i definitely encourage anyone to open their own contest if anyone is considering doing so and if anyone is still unsure of whether to go ahead and join this community of people, i will also encourage doing that as well and will always do so no matter what

All i just wanted to say is i love this community and its people so much and i do not want it to ever end no matter how old i am and i hope from the very bottom of my heart it doesn't and i am just worried for nothing!  I have never met such an amazing community of people in my life and i will forever be thankful to everyone for accepting me as a lasting part of you all and i will stay as part of it for as long as i am breathing I can say i am proud to count myself as one of yous!

I just had to write this here as well like i did the NNMC discord because i wanted more people to see it

I stopped talking "politics" on the forum when I understood that the admins would never take care of whatever I could say but I feel you. Even if I was not allowed to compete in it anymore (for those who don't know, don't ask me why, because the reason is so futile that I don't want to explain it), NNMC was important for the forum. Without any access to the NVSC section - for those who don't know why I can't see it, don't ask me, I never had any discussion with those who took this decision and I will never beg anything from them - it was one of my main ways to check if a song I wanted to send was spotted on the forum or not.

More generally speaking, seeing such a contest disappearing is a significant event, knowing that there are fewer other contests outside NVSC than before. And that it takes years to join NVSC so new forumers would have less available contests during their waiting time. Not mentioning all those who are not interested by joining NVSC. I personally spend fewer and fewer time on the forum, which is logical since many contests have closed or have moved to Discord and that new contests have become extremely rare compared to a quite recent period where you could see new projects be created very often.

On the other hand, when a supernova explodes in the Universe, dozens of new stars can be created from its remnants, and the heavy elements created by this king of events made worlds like Earth possible. We can just hope that new contests will be created and that the participants of NNMC will have more interest for the other existing contests on the forum.

I'm quite sad to see that contest disappearing despite the very bad moments I had on it (because of my very disappointing results - my best result was 9th and I had many painful NQs - and other reasons) because I also remember how much I liked the songs I sent to it. So for those who don't remember them or joined the forum after I was forced to leave the contest, here is my personal ranking of my entries in NNMC. The top 4 is very close and I could give the #1 spot to any of them.

2 years ago I sent the song "Zarraf" for Somalia for the 5th edition of Own Africavision Song Contest. 

The Song is still a bop.

Unfortunately that edition saw some personal opinions affect the results that were not reflected be scorewiz.

This isn't to start drama, all i want is an acknowledgement of the action and i can lay my grievance that had been bottled up to rest.

Randomly thought of this place and decided to pay a visit - and I've been reminded of some really fond memories. I didn't realise just how important this place was for me when engaging with all things Eurovision cause my passion for it hasn't been the same since I left (as the ESC fanbase here in NZ is nonexistent lol). Just thought I'd post a little something to say hi and that I hope that all your lives are going great Maybe I'll stop by the messenger/discord/whatever it is now sometime and say hi as well
