Here are the Rules of the WWW Song Contest:
§1a. You can only represent your own country in this contest! You cannot choose the country you want to play with like in many other contests.
§1b. We have permanent players, so you cannot join if your country is already taken! You can see the taken countries here. If you want to join with a country that's not reserved or taken, you either have to live there or have to have a strong relation to that country (for instance: you must be born there, have lived there for some time in the past or strong enough roots, at least one parent from there). Other connections have to be explained; in any case, the final decision will be made by the admins.
§2a. The artist of the song has to be from your country/needs to have a logical relation to it (this means obvious connections, the admins will look into it and decide based on the artist's situation). We are rather strict about roots (in general: at least one of the artist's parents must be from the specific country, grandparents or even further descents aren't enough). Bands/Duos/Features: At least one band member/featured artist must be acceptable for the country.
The release date, the length, the genre and the language of the song don't matter (as long as it's not a special edition --> 10th, 20th, 30th edition etc.).
§2b. Songs that have more than 100 Million views on Youtube are not allowed to compete. Official videos as well as other videos with a respectable amount of views are taken into account, the sum of views of these videos is decisive.
Covers of such songs that have less than 100 Million views are acceptable.
§3. (J)ESC songs are not allowed! "National final songs" are allowed once the song is eliminated from the selection and can't go to Eurovision anymore.
§4. Covers, remixes and other versions (instrumental/karaoke versions, parodies, samples) are allowed, as long as the original or another version of the song hasn't been sent yet, you can ask us if you're unsure. Keep in mind that also songs having participated in Retro WWWSC and Themed WWWC (or covers of them) can't be sent anymore and vice versa.

§5. You cannot send an artist twice in a row! Example: Anna Vissi takes part in the 1st edition for Cyprus, so she can't be sent in the 2nd edition, but again in the 3rd. Same goes for artists that can be sent for different countries: If Helene Fischer (acceptable for Germany and Russia) is sent in the 10th Edition for Germany, she cannot be sent in the 11th for Russia either, only in the 12th edition again. Moreover, if an artist had been sent for a country and right afterwards the player withdrew for some editions, the same artist can not be sent when the country takes part again. (Example: If Inna took part for Romania in the 19th edition and then the player withdrew and came back in the 27th edition, then Inna can not be sent before the 28th edition again). The same counts for members of a group/duo. Apart from that, you are allowed to send an artist as often as you want.
§5a. One artist cannot take part for more than one country in the same edition!
§6. Top 3 Rule: The Top 3 countries of one edition are directly qualified for the final of the next edition! They are allowed to vote in all semi-finals, but don't have to.
§7. Semi-finals: All other participants have to take part in one of the up to 3 semi-finals. They have to vote in the semi-final they are in and cannot vote in the other semi-final(s). Voting is in Eurovision-style: Vote by giving 12,10, 8 and 7-1 points to your 10 favorite entries.
The 7 semi-finalists with the most points qualify directly for the grand final.
§8. 2nd-Chance-Round: The songs placed 8th-10th from all semi-finals advance to the "2nd chance round"! One more song from any semi-final, which finished 11th or lower, gets chosen by the admins as wildcard. This song will be in the "2nd chance round" as well. In total there will be 10 songs in this round.
§8a. Voting in the "2nd chance round" is not obligatory! However, only players who are NOT in the 2nd-chance-round can vote there (= final qualifiers or non-qualifiers)! The 3 countries with the most votes will finally qualify to the grand final too.
§9. Grand Final: All participants have to vote in the final, also those who didn't qualify!
§9a. "Rest of the World"-Jury: Countries which don't participate in the current edition can cast votes in the grand final, which will be added to the scoreboard as part of the "Rest of the World"-Jury. These countries will have a secured place in the following edition.
§10. Votes can be sent as PM on the forum to mimisthesc or ferrygraf , as email or as comment under the specific recap video. Please don't post your votes in public before the results are released (for instance in a forum thread)!
§11. National Finals/Preselections: In general there are no restrictions or rules about national finals. Songs that were used in a previous national selection but didn't win can be included again for example. However, if you want to include a cover/remix, make sure or ask us in advance whether the original or another version of the song has already participated! Same goes for artists which only have unsure/weak connections to your country. Otherwise you might have to remove entries from your preselection.
If you want to open one, feel free to start a thread here. Just keep in mind to close your selection before the official submission time for an edition ends!
§12. Holidays/Replacers: If you are on vacation or won't be able to vote for some other reason, please tell us in time, so that we can find a satisfying solution (arrange the deadlines, find a replacement voter). Otherwise it results in disqualifications or strike points. (also see §12c)
§12a. In case you are unable to vote during a voting period, you may request a replacement voter (if the reason is acceptable). In the last 24 hours of a voting period a replacer can't be requested anymore!
§12b. Replacers cannot be requested for 2 consecutive editions. (This means that if you requested a replacer in Edition #70, you will only be able to get one again in Edition #72). Replacers cannot be requested right after a strike. (Meaning a player who got a strike in one edition cannot request a replacer the next edition that specific player participates).
§12c. Not voting leads to strikes, unless a valid reason for not doing so is given in time (before the last 24 hours of the voting). More information: forum.songcontests.eu/thread/20013/strikes-ban-list
§13. Withdrawing: If you want to leave the contest, please inform us so we don't have to wait or tag you several times with no response. If you cannot participate for a while, it's also possible to reserve your place. Please inform us in such a case as well.
Players who are normally punctual and have taken part for a longer time, but don't submit an entry for unknown reasons, will have their place reserved. If they don't show any reaction or activity in a certain time period, their country will become free for a new player.
In case one player skips an edition, it's possible to get a replacement player for this edition, if the parties and admins agree with it.
§14. All players should act respectfully and vote fairly. The main goal of our contest is to promote songs and artists and to generally share music, not just having good personal results.
§15. Participation limit: There is a limit of 54 countries/edition. The first 51 participants to send a song will take part in the edition. The countries submitting afterwards will take part in a Pre-Qualification-Round, from where the Top 3 will get the last 3 places in the main competition.
Special case: If exactly 55 countries have submitted by the end of the submissions deadline, the edition will not have a PQR and one semi-final will have 18 participants instead.
The contest admins as well as the Top 3 of last edition and voters of the RoW Jury have a safe spot in the following edition.
