flagerezinhalla Erezin Halla v flagusof United States of FlowersQuarter-Finals *** Tuesday 17 February 18.00 *** Venue: PalmaDome, Kanareya *** Referee: flagnovafionia Lars Olaf Nilsson flagerezinhalla Llemian v flagusof SelUnited States prevail in flood of goalsErezin Halla and the United States have shown they know the best ways to entertain an audience. There was a 3-3 score after 90 minutes, and it had been raised to 5-5 after extra time; after 120 minutes, the United States showed their dominance in penalty kicks.
The first goal was scored by Erezin striker Yuri El Gracer, a bicycle kick in the seventh minute. The United States weren't merely impressed and their captain Regi Fox scored a countergoal in the 14th minute.
It was not until the second half when another goal was scored: in the 63rd minute, Fox was there to play pinball, as his shot bounced into the Erezin gate via Justin Russo's heel and Henry Carver's back.
They didn't manage to maintain their lead for long, though, as Erezin striker Charlie Shallot headed a corner kick into the USoF net in the 69th minute, and he even managed to score another four minutes later, out of a direct free kick.
The United States seemed doomed as the final whistle creeped closer, but they were saved by a clumsy own goal by Russo, who thought he was delivering a backpass to goalkeeper Harry Bonntroop. In fact, Bonntroop stood several feet away from the aimed position - he was discussing something with referee Lars Olaf Nilsson - and Russo watched with envious eyes as the ball rolled into his own gate, slowly yet ineluctable.
The extra time started with Russo replaced by Peter van Russel - no surprise there. Unfortunately, he scored an own goal, too, as he hit an incoming USoF cross-pass in a way meant to make it travel past his gate. However, he gave the ball such an effect that Bonntroop wasn't able to catch it, and it curled into the goal.
Erezin Halla knew they were playing in a way unworthy to their skills, and soon scored - in the adversary's goal this time - through a direct free kick by Samual Benedict, and eventually took the lead as Shallot scored his third of the evening.
The final whistle was creeping closer once more, and this time there was no own goal to save the United States. But in the 120th minute, defender Chris Perry couldn't stand the tension of the 5-4 arrears anymore and snapped. With a rage nobody had ever known he was capable of, he snatched the ball away from the very surprised Erezin midfielder Owen Yew, raced to the opponent's gate, by-passed Bonntroop and scored with a stunning beauty.
Only the penalty series left, then. The first miss was made by Shallot, in the first try already. Unfortunately for him, though, nobody else - neither Erezin nor USoF - failed to score, and, despite his hattrick, he became the doormat of his country. Erezin Halla's out, while the United States can start preparing for the semi-final against the Rainbow Islands.

Maharlika v flagengeos Engeos Quarter-Finals *** Tuesday 17 February 21.00 *** Venue: RiArena, Novgorod *** Referee: flagkeyholeland Daniel Martins Jericho v flagengeos ππππππ
Engeos beats Maharlika in dull game Despite the fact that Engeos beat Maharlika 2-1, the mutual match was so boring that some say it wouldβve been more fair if neither of the teams had proceeded to the semi-finals.
The first real action came in the 24th minute, when Maharlika midfielder Luuk Smits missed the Engeosian gate by just a few inches. Half an hour into the game, though, Maharlika defender Mateusz Czynski, whose mother is Engeosian but is married to a Maharlikan, brought down Engeos striker Francis Gutav. Czynski received a yellow card, while Gutav turned the given direct free kick into good account. In the final seconds of the first half, Engeos even managed to extend their lead through midfielder Joseph Vana scoring out of a corner kick.
The second half started off slowly, but picked up just enough speed to ensure at least a tiny little fraction of excitement to the audience. After several chances at goal by various Maharlikan midfielders and strikers, their efforts were finally rewarded when, in the 71st minute, Engeos defender Jakub Pfeil brought down Maharlika striker Emil Consul right in front of the Engeosian gate. Pfeil was sent off by referee Daniel Martins, Consul contracted an injury, and Maharlika midfielder Khalil Masout scored out of the penalty kick.
The tension almost returned in the 85th minute, when Masout kicked the ball into the Engeosian net once more. Too bad for him, because it was offside. Maharlika eliminated, Engeos to compete against Neptune in the semi-final.

Rainbow Islands v United States of Flowers Semi-finals *** Thursday 19 February 20.00 *** Venue: Menyaro Stadium, Lutetin *** Referee: Joan Ferrer ( La RepΓΊblica Blanca) flagrainbowislands Julian v flagusof Sel
Rainbow Islands donβt impress, yet reach the final Despite the high expectations of this semi-final, the show given by the Rainbow Islands and the United States was pretty disappointing. Only one goal separated the two teams, and it was almost a miracle the game had ended after just 90 minutes.
The United States started off strongly, though, and were close to scoring in the second minute already, when current tournament topscorer Regi Fox was in the perfect position to put his team ahead of the opponents, but waited with acting too long, giving Rainbow Islands defender Max William just enough time to throw himself of the ball and thus deflect Foxβ shot.
After two other shots at goal, which were only just caught by Rainbow Islands goalkeeper Francis Coral, the βFlower Stormβ slowly faded away, allowing the Islands to try to break through every once in a while, but they didnβt even get close to an actual goal. That is, until the 44th minute, when Albert Zweistein delivered the cross-pass of a lifetime to Finn Zanolli, who performed a gracious diving header and sent the ball spiralling into the United States gate.
The expected counteroffensive by the United States failed to appear, yet they stayed in balance with the Islands. There were only a few opportunities in the second half, the most prominent being Alfred Olsonβs long distance shot, which was narrowly slapped out of the Islands goal by Coral.
In the 87th minute, though, Rainbow Islands midfielder Lucas Martin brought down US striker Joey Figueroa near the penalty area. Figueroa had an unfortunate fall and was carried off the field, not to appear in the tournament again. The US players were screaming for a red card, but Martin only got a yellow one from referee Ferrer. To aggravate the feelings of prejudice amongst the United States, it was Martin who prevented Fox from scoring in the final seconds of injury time.

flagneptune Neptune v flagengeos EngeosSemi-finals *** Friday 20 February 20.00 *** Venue: Van Dalen Stadium, Tibrograd *** Referee: flagdepressivestate Thomas Johnson flagneptune β¨π v flagengeos ππππππNeptune humiliates Engeos to the limit - and beyondEquality? Not really, at least not in the second semi-final of the CFA World Cup. Neptune grinded the Engeosian team to powder by beating them by a stunning 9-0, with six goals claimed by JoΓ£o Oliveira Goncalves, whoβs now the topscorer of the tournament.
Nothing particularly notable happened in the first half of the match. But suddenly, after approximately 35 minutes, something snapped inside the Neptunian team. The why and how are still unknown, but what we do know is that they were leading 3-0 by the end of the first half. A corner kick by Bent Hermasen curled directly into the Engeosian goal, Goncalves scored his first of the evening through a long-distance shot, and Hermasen turned a direct free kick into good use after a yellow card was given to Jan Solina for rude remarks towards the Neptunians and the referee.
The second half started off with a bang: Goncalves kicked off, started a solo action, by-passed a set of very surprised Engeosian defenders (who, as would turn out later, hadn't even noticed the game had already been resumed), ran towards the goalkeeper solely and kicked the ball right past him.
And here comes it: he performed that one trick five times in a row! The Engeosians just couldn't hold him back. That night, Goncalves was uncatchable, invincible and unstoppable. After 77 minutes, the score was 8-0, and even the Neptunians thought it was quite enough. Under loud applause, Goncalves was replaced by Abaalom Awate, who managed to make just one more goal before the final whistle was blown.
