BTW if you all think that the popularity/views of the song are not important we can also skip that one It was only an idea, I had to start from somewhere Don't misunderstand us! The popularity itself would be fine (I think I might be able to find a song for the biggest (what was it? 400K?) amount of views), but for such small music industries like Latvia it would be hard to find pre-90's male singer with song of 400K+ views... I hope you understand what I mean... mixing all those categories together makes it so difficult! For the regular contest it would be a bit (and only a bit) easier, because the newer songs have a lot more views than the older ones... I actually like your whole idea, but it might turn out to be too difficult for the small music industries...

Shovkovskyi/PeterI think I get your point. But you named 3 categories in your example. We only have 2 for each person on 1 lottery ticket. But if it is not that easy enough we can maybe to make it easier for the small music industries. We can do that to decrease the amount of categories on the lottery ticket to 1 for every country Thanks for your opinion!

Not a theme, but just a suggestion for #40 to ensure that everyone can participate in the jubilee edition. Just for Retro WWWSC #40, I think there should not be a limit of countries participating - even if it means having semi-finals. antheurovision22 Maybe instead of tempos, just common genres like pop (ballad), rock, dance? There was no limit in #30 if I remember right

How about an edition with artists who had an amazing career and are now old and they are still popular artists or etc Bonnie Tyler for example

So as antheurovision22 came up with an elaborate suggestion, I put some thought into it as some parts won't really work for everyone in Retro or for old songs in general. We could keep the "Wheel Of Fortune" or "Lottery" tho. I thought we could have 5 or 6 main themes and players would be split between them. Within those themes there would be sub-themes. Example: Genre - rock, pop, traditional, alternative, ... Each player would get a different one. If the player can't find anything or doesn't like what they found they can ask for a re-roll. Themes I had come up with: Genre (rock, pop, alternative, ballad, dance) Artist (band/group, male, female, duet) KeywordImageTime period (2000s, 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, pre-60s) The only problem I have is, some may be too easy like 2000s, 90s, pop, ballad. And adding 2 challenges could be too hard for some. Should they be removed or just be marked as "easy" and come with an extra theme? What do you think? Any other idea for the themes and within them?

Any other idea for the themes Laurinda - I think lottery of luck is a better name then the wheel of fortune. because I think basically everyone gets 'something' -> basically 'an a theme word' and with a lotery it's basically the same; because you get a card with a number(s) -5 or 6 themes would be nice/oke -re-roll is also oke, but I think we have to draw the line somewhere. after 1 re-roll it's game over I think, I mean if you have no song? I am really positive about everyone finding a song BTW. - I think genre is not a good idea IMO, because it's just a feeling and some songs are not 1 genre, So it's very difficult to say whether it's a genre or not. - I would say to make a theme like BPM: beats per minute of a song, then you can say it's a slow song, mid- tempo or uptempo song. I aleady described that earlier in this post. - time period is oke for me, but I would say -2000, 90's, 80's, 70's and maybe 60's and earlier if it's not too hard. -artist is also an oke theme: 1. man
2.woman
3. band/duo/group(i count this three as one categorie)Summary of my theme ideas:
1.artist(male female etc) 2.BPM(slow song, mid tempo, up tempo) 3. time period
and as a last thing I like to say: everyone get's 1 themeword, because some said it wouldn't be easy for there country. If you have a easy one then good for you! no problem/so be it! It's called a 'lottery of luck' with a reason!

I think genre is fine. If player finds it good, I trust them, it's not like it's not obvious. Even is someone sends metal instead of rock I don't think it's a huge deal. Also "Image" and "Keyword" would be up to the player's interpretation. I also had in mind trading (instead of a re-roll), but idk if that would just make a chaos. Most likely everyone will get one thing. I'm sure 2 would be much easier applicable in non-retro contests.
