Nordisk Melodi Grand Prix 01 [INFO]

After talks to the head of delegations of each Nordic country,

KVF was enforced to create the Nordic spin-off "Nordisk MGP".

The first edition of the contest will be held in Tórshavn, the capital

of the Faroe Islands. The venue for the event is the open-air
stadium Tórsvøllur which offers place for up to 2000 viewers.

Until now, the following countries confirmed for the event:

Denmark

Faroe Islands (Host)
Finland
Iceland

Norway

Sweden

The dates for the event have yet to be discussed.

More information will be revealed by KVF at a later date.

Venue for NMGP #01 revealed!

Today, KVF revealed the venue for the first ever Nordisk

Melodi Grand Prix. It will be the open-air stadium Tórsvøllur in

Tórshavn. A big open-air stage will be built on the North side of the

stadium giving about 2.000 viewers space, to experience the show.

The Faroe Islands selected!

The Faroe Islands selected their entry for the Nordisk Melodi
Grand Prix.It will be Strok with their song "Mitt í verdini".

Sweden has selected!

Violet Days to represent Sweden in the first edition of Nordisk Melodi Grand Prix!

On 8 June, on a press conference by SVT, Violet Days were announced to represent Sweden with their song "Razorheart" at the first edition of the upcoming competition "Nordisk Melodi Grand Prix", which is especially made for Nordic countries.

Lina Hansson, front singer of Violet Days: "First of all, it's such an honour to represent a whole country, though we are not even known in our country. Of course we kind of do have a lot of pressure now, but we try to do not think about it, we rather try to enjoy the wonderful experience God will give us and I'm sure this competition will make us grow! As I mentioned, we are at the very beginning of our career and we decided to take part in this competition first to check whether our music can reach the people. And if it does, we dare try to participate in the big Fantasifestivalen. [...]
We decided to sing in English, as English is an universal language and we want to reach as many people as possible and that includes people from other countries, people from other continents, people from the other side of the world."

The Main Level to represent  Norway!

NRK announced that a brand new boyband will represent the NVSC host country in Tórshavn for the first Nordisk Melodi Grand Prix. 

Scandipop has written for the three boys:
"These chaps have spent the last six months or so recording cover versions of other people’s songs, filming comparatively high budget videos for them, popping the lot on YouTube, and sitting back as the fans roll in. Finally though, they’ve gone and released their first original song. It’s ‘Blackout’. And thankfully – after all that effing wait – it’s turned out to be a good bit of pop."

A song in the native language of Norway was planned to participate but the singer had to change its plans and a participation in NMGP was not possible.

The Hosts

KVF proudly presents the hosts of NMGP #1!

Eivør Pálsdóttir

Eivør is the Faroe Islands' most popular and well-known
artist who has already been on tour through Europe and won many
different awards. This year, she tries as a TV show host for the
first time. "I support young talents, as I know it is very
hard to become attention and get more and more listeners. I
wish every participant the best of luck and I hope this will
become a great show for our Nordic brothers!"







Brandur Enni

Brandur is a popular teen-popstar from the Faroe
Islands. He became known via several TV shows and is now
a TV show host himself! "I cannot believe that KVF asked me
to host this show! I really can't wait to present new music
to all over the Nordic countries!"

More Information About NMGP #1

KVF is currently preparing the Tórsvøllur to host the
first ever Nordisk Melodi Grand Prix. The preliminary date for the
show is set to 28th June. The nations are asked to send
their participating song until the 25th June. Left are:

Iceland has selected!

As Söngvakeppni Sjönvarpsins has just come to an end and the results were announced, Iceland has selected the singers for both NVSC and NMGP. 

As the format says, Sigrun Vala, who came just 2nd in the National Selection, will represent Iceland in Torshavn on the 28th of June with the song "Ekki Gera Neitt"

She is scheduled to take the flight to the Faroe Islands on the 25th June, just in time for the rehearsals on stage.

Logo and stage revealed!

The work had already begun a week ago and the stage

for the first ever Nordisk Melodi Grand Prix is ready for

the big event. Here are the first pictures of the big stage!

Also the design for the first edition has been revealed.
