Changes for the 35th edition announced
Several new features have been discussed at the IBU Council over the past days and weeks. 
The IBU is now ready to present these new changes:

1. Song approvals
From now on, please do also feature (inactive) in the approval PMs!

2. Betting odds / sneak peeks
The betting odds will be returning for the 35th edition, including the sneak peeks. 
The announcement thread about the sneak peeks will come as usual during the preparation time for the 35th edition.

3. Voting system
The IBU can finally reveal that there is a new voting system to be in usage starting from the 35th edition of the International Music Festival.
How does it work?
Here's to a quick overview of the most important things to know - in case you do not already know them.
This new system will apply for both the semis and the grand final, however it won't be used at the quarter-finals!

Jury voting
Each country is based on a national jury (usually made of five responsible jurors) and the televoting.
Each jury casts it's own votes from 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 up to 12 points. They will be sent without being combined with the Televoting.

Televoting
The people in your country are able to cast their votes as well, counted together as the Televoting.

While the Jury votes will be presented, the Televoting process will be ongoing, where the viewers can vote for their favorites.


The ten most voted songs in your country will again receive a set of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 and 12 points.

Your votes
After having cast your votes, they will be sent to the IBU.

It is not needed to combine these points, your votes will just be sent as two seperate sets of points.

Voting presentation

On the scoreboard, the national juries will kick off the voting by presenting their votes of each country.



The final 12 points will be announced individually by your chosen spokesperson, while the rest will already be shown on screen to speed up the show.


After a short break in the programme, the Televoting will be presented, consisting of all the Televoting results around Europe and Australia.

The hosts will announce the points of the last placed country
 in the Televoting and will then work their way up to the first place.

This results in raising tension throughout the show due to an unknown winner until the Televoting was revealed.


In the history of the contest, there have been plenty of winners that were clear after the majority voted, these cases will be avoided due to the new system.

4. Awards
Several awards will be introduced in the 35th edition, while others are already in usage after the results of the 34th edition: The Barbara Dex Award and the IMF Awards will be introduced in the current edition, while the IMF Male/Female Topmodel will actually return for it's second time in the contest's history in the 35th edition.

5. Pre-events
A new board was recently launced for "pre-contest events". These can be preview parties hosted by a nation where others can join and let their artists perform their respective entries. 
This was introduced to raise attention of the songs already before the contest starts.

IMF 35 - HOST COUNTRY + SCHEDULE

As Australia has won the competition again, the contest can't be held in the winning country of the previous edition.

Therefor, after several talks, the IBU came to the decision that the contest will now move to Israel, the runner-up of the 34th Edition.

"We are very happy to announce Israel as the next host country. We are ready to present you the best edition so far in Israel with many memories to keep in mind."

Despite several media Reports, claiming that the contest in Israel might not fit safety Standards, the IBU announced that Israel is able to offer the same qualities as any other previous host country.

The bidding Phase has now kicked off as well. The venues bidding for Hosting the contest will be revealed tomorrow, with a final decision to be expected later tomorrow.

The hosts will be revealed along with the venue.
