This is the official Thread for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017!It is already confirmed, that there will be no internal selection next year, so we will probably have another edition of "Unser Song für..." It's also likely, that the NDR (the part of ARD who is responsible for northern Germany) will step back as main organisator of the German ESC journey, as it was mentioned in a press conference in November 2015. If this actually happens, it could happen that WDR (part of ARD for North-Rhine Westphalia, western Germany) will take the task over, since they earn the most money for ARD. However, nothing is confirmed yet

I love this part, lol: The plan is not to look for a new Lena. “Lena was an example of a young and charasmatic girl that can fill the stage. But we should not be looking for a second Lena, she is unique. It is a composers contest, the strenght of the song is the main importance. We are looking for personalities and songs that are strong enough.”The plan is not to look for a new Lena, while the plan basically is to look for a new Lena --- But anyway, the news are great The preselections from 2013-2015 were horrible. So I'm super happy now

I still want some kind of Bundesvision Song Contest where all 16 states send one act of their "nationality". This way there could be like total newcomers and established acts. For example Hessen could send idk Namika and NRW could do a regional casting where people from NRW could submit songs.
It can't be too hard to organize it, even if it's in a small arena it could work.

I don't think that Pro7 has the rights, rather that Raabs entertainment company

I don't think that Pro7 has the rights, rather that Raabs entertainment company Probably your right. But the points is that the ARD would have to pay for the format and I dont think they will do that. I am expecting that they will either do, what they planned with Naidoo, only with another artist OR do something like the former wildcard, only longer and with different songs for each artist OR they just do the same again with a minor change, which they try to make bigger than it is Thinking about it a competition similar to Bundesvision would probably deliver only bad results, too. Because basically the singer with the currently biggest name won. Just look at last edition: Unarguably Glasperlenspiel had the most successful song. But Mark Forster won, because he had a hit before. Bundesvision was never won by the best song.

Tbh, Christer Björkman suggested to the German HoD to have a "Melodifestival Made in Germany", but as we all know ARD, there's no chance this will happen
