Okay so first off - I was never a fan of the winning song, and I won't be However, I am so glad that Portugal has finally managed to win the contest.. 53 years, 49 attempts, without a win is extraordinary. Welcome to the winners' club, And now we're going to be heading to Portugal for the first time - I just know the show is going to be great !
I wish I could go, if my exams didn't clash with it maybe

Well, 17th is quite good imo. Considering their second best was 16th, this is great.

It has finally happened. Portugal has finally won it. I used to snore every time I heard this song but I know for a fact that if you sing from your hearts and soul,there is no way you can't go so far.

I supported my country again after 3 years, I hoped they would do better but at least they qualified and made us proud

Yesssss top 5, really proud of Robin and another year that my favourite song gets to the top 10

Probably the first time that my last place wins the whole contest  I won't comment on this "song", I'm just looking forward to see Portugal hosting.

This isn't related to ESC but they both one the Euros beating the host nations in the Final. A weird conincidence

My thoughts:

Portugal: Congratulations on the victory! It was obvious from the start that he would win the jury vote by a landslide. And since it was his best performance ever so far (without weird movements), I had no doubt he would win the televote as well. So yeah, based on the live performances a predictable and deserved winner. For his winning speech, he should have chosen different words tho, because it basically came across as trashtalking about the other contestants.

Bulgaria: Good performance, but he never had a real chance to win. I think that was always just wishful thinking from those who didn't want Italy or Portugal to win

Moldova: WOW! I mean, I love it, I love SunStroke Project since before the 2010 semis started, but wow! I would have never guessed that they would actually do this well! Also great that the jury didn't completely kill them, as they did in 2010. His vocals were so good and the performance was so much fun

Belgium: I love that the 4 televoting winners are also the top 4 overall Another great position for Belgium

Sweden: Wow, for me this was rather a televoter magnet, not a jury magnet. It's so weird to see the jury loved this For me, it lost all its power because it's literally the MelFest performance but worse. I find it slightly overrated.

Italy: Believe it or not, I'm not surprised at all. I predicted this to be outside of the top 3. I had a feeling that Francesco would be the new Amir, because both were just disappointing with their staging. And on top of that, Francesco's live vocals weren't that great. 2017 had a good level, but no-one really screamed WINNER to me. So it was a perfect chance for Salvador.

Romania: Good place for them

Hungary: Wow, that's a shame. He was clearly popular at home and in the audience, but the jury really underappreciated him. Still, 8th is a good place for him and he would've needed 83 more points to be 7th, so it's okay

Australia: Now this... What the. 4th with the juries, 25th with the televoters I don't know what the juries see in this, but apparently he must have really slayed in the juryfinal.

Norway: This is unbelievable to me. It's absolutely beyond me how this song can be in the top 10 and even 6th for the juries. What the hell? It's such a below-average song, in my opinion. This reminds me of those moments when rappers go to The Voice and rap reeeeally averagely (or even bad), but all the judges (who don't know shit about rap) completely freak out and praise him as if he's the new Eminem. This is how I feel as an EDM lover about Norway's song. And the judges from my country have even given points to this, what the It's even more funny considering that Nicole (1982 winner) has said before the final that she finds it sad that the ESC is not a SONG contest anymore, it's becoming a Eurovision SHOW contest. But then she puts it on #3

Netherlands: Good result overall, surprising to see such little points from the televoters.

France: I didn't expect her to be top 10 with the televoters, good job!

Croatia: I must say he was FAR better in the final than in the semifinal. He justified his place in the final. 13th seems a tad too high for me personally, but it's okay

Azerbaijan: For her live performance, I find her result adequate. Interesting to see that they aren't a permanent top 10 finisher anymore.

UK: That surprised me. I thought the televoters would give way more points to her and even the juries gave her "only" 99 points. Maybe her facial expressions threw people off.

Austria: I in fact did see those points from the televote coming, sorry Austria. In the result prediction game, I predicted him last due to the early starting position, Austria's lack of emigrants and his rather average song. But I'm more than happy that the jury saved him, even though it's a bit too high and it was so fishy of the Bulgarian judges to vote for him, in order to prevent a Portuguese or Italian victory.

Belarus: I'm just happy that they were in the final, result doesn't matter Dat kiss tho

Armenia: Similar to Azerbaijan, did worse than expected. In the past, they got far better results with worse songs.

Denmark: Surprised to see that she was pushed through to the final by the juries.

Greece: She finally hit the high note! (She probably screwed it up on purpose in the semifinal, so that in the final everybody will say "She finally hit the high note" and vote for her jk). Ok result for her. The 24 points from Cyprus are a complete joke.

Cyprus: I agree with the televoters, Cyprus should have done better than Greece this year, but jury said no.

Poland: Did better than I thought. I still can't remember the melody, but her vocals were good.

Israel: 3rd in the semi, 23rd in the final, omg. Also, when Ofar announced that IBA is shutting down forever, it was so sad. I hope that Israel can return soon!

Ukraine: I thought all the rock fans would get behind this, since it's the only rock song in the whole competition. Well... they didn't.

Germany: Lol. I absolutely hated everything about our preselection this year, so I wanted her to be last place. I somehow thought she would get a much higher place, because, you know, bad songs always kinda do much better than they should. But she ended up exactly where she should, 25th is great. No disrespect against Levina, she's a nice girl. But even vocally, she wouldn't deserve to be much higher because she kept missing the same note every single time.

Spain: I like the studio version, I think Manel is really sympathetic. But live it's just crap and he had a really horrible mistake at the end.

Overall thoughts: Kiev did a good job. Alex and Vova were nice. I'm happy for Portugal.

But damn, that voting presentation. I HATE it so much and I can't understand when people say "it's more exciting". No, it's not. Not AT ALL. First we get 30 minutes of " points go to Portugal", which is not exciting AT ALL. And then in the 2nd part we only have to wait if Bulgaria gets 104 points more than Portugal or not, which was obviously impossible. Everything else was completely irrelevant. So the 2nd part was not exciting AT ALL either.

It's always just:
Host: "The country that doesn't win is... country A" - Audience: "Oooh "
Host: "The country that doesn´t win is... country B" - Audience: "Oooh "
Host: "The country that doesn´t win is... country C" - Audience: "Oooh "
Host: "The country that got a shit-ton of points but still won't win is... country X" - Audience: "Ooooh "

Who finds that exciting???

The same thing was last year. It wasn't more exciting than the old system at all. With the old system, the winner would have been clear only at the very last country voting! It would have been hella exciting with the old system. But no, instead we got really boring 30 minutes of " points go to Dami Im" and then a surprising twist when Ukraine won. A surprising twist, I give you that. But was it exciting overall? Hell no. As written previously, with the old system it would have been decided with the very last spokesperson. We would have seen lots and lots and leader changes, it would have been damn exciting throughout the whole procedure with the old system.

So the case is clear. Whether the voting procedure is exciting or not purely depends on the strength of the entries. If it's a one-horse race (as in 2009, 2012 and 2017), it's boring with both presentation systems. If it's a multiple-horse race (as in 2003, 2015, 2016), it's 100% exciting with the old system and maybe 20% exciting with the new one. I really really hope we revert back to the old one...

Stopping the voting near the end because "we've done the math" made everything so extraordinarily anticlimactic.

Speaking of voting, if you combine all the votes together as they would've been in 2009, Amar Pelos Dois would've scored over 400 points (417 I think?), so Salvador just SNATCHED Alexander Rybak's wig

Having the new voting system gives every country and their supporters hope that they might win or at least do better than what the jury has given them. I agree that the first part of the presentation was tedious, but the presentation of the televotes certainly changes everything. 2016 is a prime example. Everyone thought Australia had the victory until it was revealed that they placed 4th overall, damaging their chances. It brightened a glimmer of hope for Ukraine and Russia and each of their fans, with Ukraine ultimately winning. Unlike in 2009 and 2012, when we already knew the winner a quarter of the way through the voting presentation and people are taking bathroom breaks singing "Fairytale" or "Euphoria", the 2017 voting gave Bulgaria and their fans a possibility of winning, even if it seemed insurmountable. Revealing Bulgaria's points until the last minute kept everyone's eyes glued to the screen for confirmation that Portugal indeed won. Then of course, there's the disappointment of knowing that you didn't win, but that adds to the drama of Eurovision.

I found it exciting personally, but alas, we have two different souls.

Well... to be honest all I heard is hate about it. Most of Hungary hates the fact we sent a g-word artist/music.... He wasn't even a clear winner, because the juries axed out the fan favourites making it easy for Origo to win.
