🚨 Glaiola News 🚨

Glaiola recognises Kasonga language (Earth equivalent: Tsonga), which is spoken in the bordering regions between Glaiola (particularly the region of Giromeria) and Ka'a and Kehbe. It can also be referred to as Kikasonga and like  Ka'an, it is also a Bantu language. Kasonga is also spoken in the chorus of the country's most recent Fantasia Contest entry, which is "Sekeleka" by Stereossauro and Selma Uamusse.

Several Scandavian government elects found funding Kyúnttropian independence supporters

After an investigation in Coldhaven this morning, internal government investigators have found that at least a dozen official Scandavian government members have provided financial support to the "freedom fighters" in the self-proclaimed breakaway state Kyúnttropia which de facto is located in Southwestern Lakadamia. "We have found that several million Nordos have been transfered to Kyúnttropia via a private Julianoise bank. At this moment we are not certain if these are official numbers; there might be much more to this case than we expected initially.", Pauline Machdonk, leader of the internal investigation force stated. The names of the culprits have not yet been revealed but the investigation is ongoing. As of now, 10 officials have been put under arrest and special warrants have been granted to search their private files for more clues. It is yet unknown which bank has been allowing the Scandavian politicians to send such large sums of money to the Kyúnttropian representatives without reporting about it to either the Julianoise or the Scandavian government. Chancellor Alicia Zender has scheduled a meeting with Julianoise representatives this afternoon to discuss this case.

YEUKIWAN MAKES CHANGES TO OFFICIAL LANGUAGES

Today, on January 21st, 2023, the Yeukiwanese government officially announced that two new languages would gain new status: The Amelian language will become an official language alongside Koran. The Hailiniese language will gain "regional language" status. This comes after years of regional calls on the government to recognize Yeukiwan's cultural diversity and pluralism, which reflects its complex history of autochthonous cultures, neighboring migration, and foreign colonization. Together these languages mother tongue of the population of around 95% of the population: according to the recent census, 68.5 percent of the population speak Koran as a first language, 19.7 percent speak Amelian as a first language, 6.8 percent speak Hailiniese as a first language. These new changes to language status will now allow the Amelian and Hailiniese populations access to services, documents, etc., in their native tongues and facilitate inter-ethnic cooperation. Furthermore, this will give regional communities a chance to give the spotlight to their culture for Yeukiwan on a global stage, like Cheronna, who represented Yeukiwan in the Fantasia Contest in her native Amelian. To end, the Yeukiwanese president stated that these changes would convert Yeukiwan into a pluralistic state where all ethnicities can live harmoniously.

"Kyúnttropia never existed", Lakadamian officials say

After reports of Scandavian government members having supported the split of a Lakadamian region emerged, representatives of the Lakadamian government ensured "This is all a hoax, Kyúnttropia simply does not exist[...]". Several Scandavian newspapers and online reporters confirmed that this was indeed fake news. Kyúnttropia indeed does not exist on Lakadamian ground. Shortly after the announcement by the Lakadamian government, conspiracy theorist groups emerged online, stating that the Scandavian sources were forced and bribed into admitting that they had reported fake news. This can currently not be confirmed. Some sources state that the Kyúnttropian freedom fighters fled to an island 200 kilometers south of Lakadamia and are still being supported by the Scandavian government. An extended research has not yet been confirmed by any state and no official sources have reported anything about this yet. As of now, Scandavia officially supports Lakadamia in their national security and is "deeply ashamed by the happenings" as stated by Alicia Zender, chancellor of Scandavia, in a press conference regarding the issues between the countries. "[...] our house representatives would never support such movement if it existed. We support the Lakadamian nation as a whole and nothing else." Tax money is now being used to fight fake news in the Scandavian press and there have been several reports of censorship of news websites in the country.

Ruyjin Republic would like to organise a round table and call out the Scandavian government from abstaining and expressing the opposite of support to the people of Kyúnttropica.

One of the Kyúnttropica leaders was seen taking off a plane at Breson airport earlier today. Media reports that the important Kyúnttropican figure, whose name we cannot disclose at this moment, is set to take temporary refuge in Ruyjin's capital. It is speculated that they, along with other members of the Kyúnttropican diaspora around Fantasia, would continue with their cause, albeit remotly.

Humanitarian aid, in the likes of food, clothes, books and Agnes CDs, is currently being flown to the island, 200km off the coast of Lakadamia.

Glaiolan government partially recognises the state of Kyúnttropica, who its people claim themselves to be independent of Lakadamia. Due to the welcoming nature of the Glaiola, the government welcomes Kyúnttropican refugees from this crisis and will provide humanitarian aid to those who are affected. The Glaiolan government wishes to propose a meeting with other Fantasian nations involved to get this issue involving Kyúnttropica resolved. However, the Glaiolan government also understands how this crisis negatively impacts the Lakadamia.

Kyúnttropian Football Embarrased by Qasentrian U-16 Squad

As part of a promotional run for the Kyúnttropian independence movement, a "national" team went to Lucea, Ceris & St. Anne, to play the U-16 Qasentrian national team. Despite the hype of the Kyúnttropian squad having so much to prove for their "nation", the Qasentrian youths did not showcase any semblance of mercy. The match ended in a 104-0 win for the Qasentrians. 
"We knew that the Kyúnttropians weren't that skilled but holy shit," Kerwin de Fontaigne, a starting defender for the Qasentrian U-16 squad said, "I know that we had all of the talent necessary to win, but it didn't even feel like we were playing football for most of the match." de Fontaigne ended the match off with 6 goals, the lowest of the non-goalkeepers that played. 
"How are we supposed to take Kyúnttropia seriously if they can't take care of their shit against a group of literal children?" Elric Wilson, a fan, said after the match. The sentiment Wilson had was very prevalent throughout the stadium, with the majority of fans leaving after halftime, where the score was 64-0.

The Qasentrian professional football leagues are wrapping up this month. The pyramid features 4 leagues at the top, with the Premier League as the pinnacle, with Leagues 1, 2, and 3 following behind. The leagues operate as a winter league, with the leagues starting in April, and ending in February. The Qasentrian Football Leagues, in order to promote Qasentrian football, only allow clubs to have a maximum of 7 foreign footballers on their active roster. However, footballers who are from nations within COSSAF are not counted as foreign footballers on the roster.

As is tradition with Qasentrian acts going to the Fantasia Contest, their final performance in the nation is held at the El Club in Marianne. El Club is a music venue with a vast history of musical excellence performing there, from Qasentrian artists to acts from around the world. We at the QBA wish Auder the best of luck in Khamatin. 

Qasentria Repeats As COSSAF Cup Champions

The COSSAF Cup Trophy returns to Qasentria for a second year in a row

Back in April, the Qasentrian National Football Team competed in the COSSAF Cup, held in Kuwiang. There, the team had to defend their title from last year which was won on home soil. The team first competed against Hikyoto, where the swallow's won 3-0. In the semi finals, Qasentria had to go against Llort, a nation that has given Qasentria some difficulties in the past. This match was a 2-2 draw after full time, and in the penalty shootout, Sylvain Hayle and Reika Satōmei scored, while the Llortish team failed to score. In the final, Qasentria went up against the hosts, Kuwiang. There, the Qasentrian team took care of business, winning 2-0. This clinched the Qasentrian National Football Team the COSSAF Cup for the second year in a row. They'll take to US Eldance, where they will compete in both the FANA World Cup and the Confederations Cup.

KATSYRIA ADOPS COAT OF ARMS!

Today it was revealed that Katsyria is finally getting a coat of arms. This was a project launched in the summer of last year, and a contest on the working out of the Coat of Arms was launched. After hundres of submissions and months of wait, an official version was finally revealed. Out of all projects presented at the contest, we think that we picked the best option that presented all the important aspects of the country. Therefore, We are excited to now reveal the official coat of arms to the entire world!

The Arms of Katsyria is a shield that represents the most popular landmark of the country that is also one of the 7 Wonders of Modern World, The Great Katsyrian Wall and in the back of it, the tallest mountain in the country. On the sky there's the sun which symbolizes firmness, strength and power, and the moon, which represents calmness, beauty and nurturing. On both sides of the shield there's two cats, the national animal of the country. The black and white symbolizes light and dark, day and night, good and evil, yin and yang, which in ancient Amelian philosophy where opposite forces are seen as interconnected and counterbalancing. The cats stand on a ribbon that contains the motto of the country "Pride of a Nation", while the ouside of the shield is adorned with national flags.

The country will keep using the civil flag for all the Fantasia related events.however, a variant of a state flag that includes the coat of arms on it will be used for all official purposes.

SCANDAVIA ACCEPTS RUYJINESE OFFER

After an offer for a roundtable by the Ruyjinese government on 8 February, the Scandavian government has officially confirmed that representatives will be flying out to discuss the case on so called "Kyúnttropia". Still in denial about the actual existence of the breakaway state, press person of the Scandavian government Elise Steinfurt explained: "Kyúnttropia is a myth, nothing else. It has nothing to do with Lakadamia [...]. We have confirmed that this was all fake news, made up by the independent press in our country. We have taken extensive measures on the culprits of this misinformation and have already apologized to the government of Lakadamia." There have been reports that the representatives of Scandavia have already arrived in the Ruyjin Republic but there is no exact information as for their location in accordance of security measures which were set in place prior to the meeting. The Scandavian government expressed great interest in securing themselves before the talks.

 Kyúnttropia declares independence 

The round table initiated by the Ruyjin Republic sought to resolve the sudden switch by Scandavia regarding the current  Kyúnttropian crisis. Earlier this month, Scandavia was the first Fantasia nation to acknowledge the 15.000 people situated on an outlying island, 200km away from the coast of Lakadamia. The discussion between various countries’ officials was complex and contentious. In general, the international community expressed support to the sovereignty and self-determination of people who claim the  Kyúnttropian, and may consider further attempts in assisting. 

 Kyúnttropia’s legitimate grievances or historical claims to independence were discussed, and efforts may be made to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict. These efforts may involve direct negotiations between the breakaway region and the central government. Talks about a potential intermediary third party, such as Fordia, G-16 or another international organisation, were also up for discussion. 

Historians and academics from a handful of prestigious universities and institutions from around the globe were tasked to research and prepare a cohesive document that would support the demands of the  Kyúnttropians. Self-determination of  Kyúnttropians has been contested for a century now. The general consensus shows that Kyúnttropians are a separate ethnic group that can trace its origins to the southern coast of Lakadasia’s two main island, currently split by Lakadamia and Hwaesonna. Of course, the modern-day concept of nation states did not exist at the time the Kyúnttropian people experienced their ethno-genesis.

The main  Kyúnttropican rebel and independence-movement figure Rebecca Freitag-Schwarz was set to attend the meeting, however, the jet flying her to Breson had to land in Eldance. Speculations about a possible sabotage have risen and a joint-investigation between Eldance and Ruyjinese officials will be done. In addition, the food on board was found to contain lethal amounts of cyanide. Thankfully, it had not been served to anyone.

 Scandavian pro-Kyúnttropian-independence activist Nicole Frankfurt stormed into the room mid-discussion and with clenched fists proclaimed the independence of   Kyúnttropia on behalf of Rebecca Freitag-Schwarz. In a coordinated action, the  Kyúnttropian flag was flown on a flag pole on the island, and in various pro-Kyúnttropian countries, such as Achróa and Niolskiaj.

It has been made public, that the island currently hosting the Kyúnttropian striving for independence, is unclaimed by any country. Part of Insular Lakadasia, plot LA1 will serve as the foundation of the newly-proclaimed nation of  Kyúnttropia.
