Greek entry revealed
After an intense voting, in NorthSong 0020, two songs managed to grab the attention of the public. Leon of Athens and Nalyssa Green were revealed as the top two and managed to continue into the super final. Leon of Athens is a Greek singer and songwriter. In 2010 he released his first album titled “Future”. The last couple of years he lives in London.Leon was born on 2 February 1986 in London, United Kingdom, and resides there . In 2018 he won first place for the category “Folk /Singer-Songwriter” in the contest “Unsigned Only Music Competition”, with his song “Aeroplane” from his latest album “Xenos”. In 2021 he released his latest singles, “Mad Into You” and “Kymata”, while he performed at the Mad Video Music Awards 2021, together with Katerine Duska, performing “Kymata/Athenian Skies/Ela mia nychta”.
On November 14, he was announced as the next Greek representative in the continent-wide European music competition North Vision Song Contest. In  Stockholm, he will represent the country with his song “Mad Into You”.
Leon of Athens was declared the winner of the contest for the next Greek representative for the contest. He won the super final, against his fellow participants Natasha Kay and Nalyssa Green.
He qualified to the super final, between seven songs, meeting Natasha Kay in the super final. He managed to win both the final and super-final with a slight lead from the rest. After many ties, he managed to beat his competition, by one point, giving him the right to represent the nation.

THE UNITED KINGDOM CHOSE ITS ENTRANT!
JOY CROOKES WINS NORTHVISION: YOUR DECISION 37
London – Last evening the UK public and an international jury chose the British representative for NVSC 37. With 2255 points Joy Crookes won the selection "Northvision: Your Decision". Her song "Feet Don't Fail Me Now" placed 1st in the Jury voting and 4th in the televoting. She therefore received 156 points more than the runner-ups Nothing But Thieves ("Futureproof"). Elderbrook ft. Bob Moses (Inner Light) placed third.
Joy Elizabeth Akther Crookes is a 23-year-old British singer-songwriter from London. She was born to a Bangladeshi-Bengali mother from Dhaka and an Irish father. Whilst a teenager, Crookes taught herself how to play guitar, piano and bass, before writing her own music. At the age of 17 she released her debut single "New Manhattan". She was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards. About her song "Feet Don't Fail Me Now" she said:
"I wrote this song because I was very interested in how people behave during a time of political turmoil. And, playing a character in the song who finds it easier to either be complicit or be performative in fear of speaking out ... because of things in our generation like cancel culture.
This character I'm playing, we're all guilty of being that. Including myself. There's always been a time where you come home and you practice in the mirror what you coulda shoulda woulda said – and I think the most important thing about progression, especially having to do with racism and injustice, we have to face ourselves before we face anyone else. That is the only way towards progression."
The Daily Aztec reviewed the song as followed: "Besides love and heartbreak, Crookes explores her thoughts on politics, calling out social media activism with “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now,” the abuse of power in “Power” and being aware of social issues and using your voice in “Kingdom.” Although the political references are mainly in the context of Crookes’ Bangladesh culture and heritage, the song can be an anthem for those advocating equality and freedom around the world."

Spanish entry revealed!
After it was revealed that an internal selection process would be held for this edition's North Vision Song Contest,  RTVE has finally unveiled the artist and the entry that will wave the Spanish flag all the way in Stockholm, Sweden. An immense anticipation has risen around the rumoured artists, and the national broadcaster has finally put an end to the long-running thoughts on the lucky artist that will hail the stage. Without further ado, here is all the information you need. It's ZAHARA!
In less than a decade, Zahara has become one of the leading figures of the Spanish indie scene. Her songs reach a wide audience that also supports her restlessness and versatility as an artist. Hers is a self-managed career with an artistic stance committed to equality.
The artist who used to give us direct messages and nothing subliminal, dares with a very deep letter in which she confesses, among other things; disorders, harassment and bad practices of a part of the music industry. Zahara with this song, in addition to denouncing a situation that she has suffered in the first person, and that has undoubtedly taken her to the limit, she seems to be unburdening herself and releasing all that ballast that has been inside her for so long.
This is what she has expressed herself through her profile on Instagram: "Merichane is me and Merichane are all my stories. I wanted to tell what I experienced as it was for me. Getting to do it has not been easy. I have had to accept and assume that those stories that I lived really happened, but that keeping them hidden not only did not make me feel better but also protected the people who had hurt me. That is why now, in this moment in which I have seen myself strongly to do so, I have decided to share them." A single that comes accompanied by a very expressive video clip, which has been placed in the top 10 of trends on YouTube.
The autobiographical story that Zahara tells in her song is a story of bullying, abuse, anxiety and sexist violence within the music industry. But what does the word "Merichane" mean?
The artist from Jaén has uncovered it through a video in which she explains everything with hair and signs. "When I was about 12 years old, my classmates referred to me, without my knowing it, as Merichane. We all had a nickname. I was very afraid for mine ... When I asked my colleague if he knew what it was mine and he told me about it, I thought it was fine. I thought it was like a kind of mockery of my name: María Azahara. My name was reluctant. town, who was a prostitute, whom they called Merichane. Then I realized that it was not an unkind nickname, that it was a way of calling me a whore. "
The sincerity and the vindication put in the words and in the music of Zahara, has made that many women have also dared to tell their own story on Twitter. Just a few hours after the publication of the song, numerous followers have shared several episodes of sexual harassment and violence through the hashtag #YoEstabaAhí (I was there), the phrase repeated numerous times in the song. A clear demonstration of sisterhood among women and that machismo remains deeply rooted in our society.

MINE ÖZGÜLE WILL REPRESENT TURKEY!
TRT is glad to annouce that  Turkey has found its representative for the next North Vision Song Contest. Mine Özgüle brings home the trophy of the national selection KuzeyMelodi: hedef İsveç. Her song "kördüğüm" received 146 points, only three points more than the runner-up.
