BELGIUM CONFIRMS!
Brussels, 17 November 2024
Belgium has confirmed its participation in the 45th North Vision Song Contest, set to take place in Romania. Following a very disappointing result in the previous edition, where Belgium sent its first-ever song in Dutch, enthusiasm within the nation has taken a hit. This outcome has pushed Belgian broadcasters to reconsider their approach, with an internal selection now being the most likely method for choosing their next entry.
Despite the setback, Belgium remains proud of its bold decision to showcase a lesser-known side of its music industry, embracing diversity and taking creative risks. The Belgian delegation is determined to continue this path, as they strive to spotlight the country’s eclectic musical heritage on the North Vision stage.
More information and details regarding the Belgian entry are expected to be released in due course.

Lebanon will be back for NVSC #45!
This evening, broadcaster LBCI has finally confirmed that Lebanon will indeed be present at the upcoming forty-fifth North Vision Song Contest, which will be held in Romania. The Lebanese population will no doubt be eager to find out who will succeed Tina Yamout as their representative, after her seventh place finish in Bilbao with 'Oyoun Al Soud' earned Lebanon its best placing in thirty editions, missing out on a coveted AQ spot by just a handful of points.
« We're so very grateful to be able to continue to compete in NVSC and represent both those in our country and all those displaced from it. Representing Lebanon will always be a huge honour for whoever has the opportunity to do so, but right now more so than ever. » Despite the delegation's efforts to revive the country's most recent national selection, NAHDA, the political and humanitarian situation currently facing the country has inevitably undermined the feasibility of doing so. With many Lebanese musicians forging careers from bases outside their home country, and current travel guidance advising against all travel to Lebanon, any public selection would need to be held in a radically different format. A firm decision is expected to be made in due course, but as things stand an internal selection is far more probable at this stage.
Lebanon's NVSC journey made the best possible start as Nicole Saba won for the country on their debut in the fifth edition with 'Hafdal Ahlam', bringing the contest to Beirut for the sixth edition and starting a (to this day unmatched) three-edition qualification streak. The country's results from then on were rather turbulent, including two four-edition streaks of non-qualifications, although Myriam Fares achieved Lebanon's second best result with 'Nifsi Aoulhalak' in the fourteenth edition – second place.
A new delegation stepped in for the twenty-fourth edition, bringing Lebanon back to the final with Nelly Makdessy's 'Kunt Atmanna' in Vienna, and achieving three top ten results for the country (with 'Call Me a Stranger', '22' and 'Dear Jealousy') before passing the baton on to the current delegation team for the thirty-fourth edition onwards, returning to the final – and to the top ten – with Azure Ryder's 'Stronger'. The country has seen mixed results since, but is currently on a three-edition qualification streak, with Tina Yamout's 'Oyoun Al Soud' earning the country a seventh place finish in NVSC #44, its best result in thirty editions. Brought to you by the Lebanese delegation on 17th November 2024

Österreich bestätigt Rückkehr! Austria will be taking part in the 45th edition. Austria has voted to stay in the North Vision Song Contest (NVSC) after a nationwide referendum. The decision highlights the contest's cultural importance to Austrians. The vote, organized by broadcaster ORF, followed debates about the costs and benefits of competing. With a strong turnout, 54% voted to remain, while 46% supported withdrawal. This close result reflects a nation divided but passionate about its cultural identity. Supporters praised the decision, highlighting the NVSC as a platform to share Austrian music globally. Critics, however, raised concerns about costs, urging ORF to be more transparent and ensure the benefits outweigh the expenses. ORF welcomed the public’s choice and promised to continue showcasing Austria’s musical talent. "This is a victory for cultural engagement, and we will make Austria proud," the broadcaster stated. Austria now looks forward to its next NVSC performance, embracing both opportunities and challenges.
