flagwhitelands Whitelands v flagantalorgia Antalorgia Group A *** Wednesday 11 February 21.00 *** Venue: PalmaDome, Kanareya *** Referee: flagkeyholeland Daniel Martins flagwhitelands Tobbz v flagantalorgia @slotermayer37
Antalorgia eliminated after disgrace against Whitelands Antalorgia, hosts of the first CFA World Cup tournament, are the first country to have run out of chances to survive the group stage. After a blood-curdling first half, the Whitelands took over control and ultimately defeated their opponent 2-0.
Antalorgia knew their chances to maintain in the cup had slacked strongly after the loss against Los Santos, and entered the field with their strongest players. They dominated the first half with unbelievable antics, but unfortunately failed to round off their attacks. In the 10th minute, Kirill Sitnikov was already close to putting Antalorgia on the lead, but his shot ricocheted against the goalpost. Only three minutes after that, Eduardo Whité took down Sitnikov’s namesake Kirill Nemtsov on the edge of the penalty area. Referee Daniel Martins gave Whité a yellow card for that action, but decided it had not been inside the penalty area, thus denying Antalorgia a valuable penalty kick.
After several other amazing chances at goal by Antalorgian strikers, midfielders and even defender Thomas Nemerov, it was half-time. At the resumption of the match, Whitelands showed up with Liam Garland instead of Fredrik Oorschot, and it appeared Antalorgia had replaced Lev Gribkov by Lavrenty Dyatlov. Despite the fact that the Whitelands had taken up a more defensive position and the Antalorgians were clearly out for more chances at goal, the Whitelands took over the match and scored out of their first real chance, much to the astonishment of the audience. The goal was registered in the name of... yes, Eduardo Whité.
This freshened Antalorgia’s combativeness, knowing that they’d be eliminated if this score were still on the board at the end of the game. Goalkeeper Blaze Vere Martin had to do his very best to keep his gate clean during the rest of the match, eventually stretching himself out a little too much at a header of Lavrenty Dyatlov, straining his major pectoral muscle, thus dropping out of the game, to be replaced by Branislav Hansen, who was also put to the test by the Antalorgian squad.
None of the hosts’ chances resulted in a goal, though, and in the 87th minute, their anguish was amplified by a penalty kick in favour of the Whitelands after an alleged simulation by Martin Ødegaard, which was turned to good account by Ødegaard himself, thus making the final score 2-0. Antalorgia drops out of the tournament pointless, the Whitelands and Las Islas de Los Santos are the first countries to qualify to the quarter-finals. They’ll have to make out who will be in first place and who will be the runner-up next Friday, in the Menyaro Stadium in Lutetin. Los Santos will only gain first place in case of a winning; if there were to be a draw, the Whitelands would be favoured on the account of their goal difference.

Sorry that the match results updates have been delayed, but I'm having some kind of illness right now, and my homework is crazy (2 tests and an assignment for tomorrow, and 5 tests next week). I'll try to catch up in the weekend, okay?
