Summary of the opening match (yes, I decided to write match summaries instead of showing only the results, so that the tournament will be more realistic. Antalorgia - Las Islas de Los SantosGroup A *** Monday 9 February 18.00 *** RiArena, Novgorod *** Referee: Oskar Kalöni *** @slotermayer37 v europezgal08Hosts surprised by Los Santos in opening match Against all odds, the opening match of the very first CFA World Cup was won by the visitors. Las Islas de Los Santos surprised friends and foes by beating the hosts Antalorgia 0-1. After the festive opening of the tournament, which included appearances by Train, Coldplay, Emin and many more, the Antalorgians started strongly, snatching away the ball from the Los Santos feet with stunning ease, and if it weren’t for their lithe goalkeeper Oliver Morton, Los Santos would’ve had to concede three goals in the first ten minutes of the game. A quarter of an hour into the game, the Antalorgians raged out as Los Santos seemed to remember they had not only come to defend, but also to attack. The action moved to the other side of the stadium, but only for a few minutes, when Antalorgia took over again. It moved to and fro like that for the rest of the first half, actually, with the audience actually getting bored by the excess of movement and the lack of real chances in the second part of the first half. That is, until the 42nd minute, when Los Santos striker Angel González appeared at the brink of offside, raced to goalkeeper Daniil Oveski, and shot the ball right over his head and into the Antalorgian gate. The audience did not approve, to say the least, but González rubbed even more salt in the hosts’ wounds by showing his middle fingers to the Antalorgian spectators and eventually kicking the ball into the public. Keyholian referee Oskar Kalöni ‘rewarded’ González with a yellow card, which made the young striker so angry that Kalöni withdrew the yellow card - and replaced it by a red one. After the break, the Antalorgian coach appeared to have left midfielder Boris Bok in the catacombs, having him replaced by the fit Lazar Yelizarov. This marked the start of a counteroffensive by the host team, forcing Los Santos back into their penalty area, but, thanks to Oliver Morton once more, not scoring a single time. Los Santos tried something in the last five minutes, but Jacob Roberts aimed twenty feet too high. PS: Please tell me if the summary was too extensive or too short, because I want to improve!

Rainbow Islands v NeptuneGroup B *** Monday 9 February, 21.00 *** Menyaro Stadium, Lutetin *** Referee: Alexander Tono Julian v ✨💃
Neptunians beat Rainbow Islands in circus act The second match of that evening, between the Rainbow Islands and Neptune, was clearly more exciting than the first. Thomas Gray scored in the fourth minute already, resulting in some quick temper inside Neptune defender Bent Hermasen, who threw his shoe at Gray. Hermasen got a yellow card for that. 99 seconds later, however, Siard Kuizenga put the score level again by a marvellous joint action with João Goncalves. Twenty-seven minutes into the game, Mark Lindström brought down Rainbow Islands striker Zinedin Blase, who had almost broken through the Neptunian defense, earning Lindström a yellow card. Objections by his teammate Goncalves got him one, too. The rest of the first half was like a game of pinball: the ball could go from one side of the stadium to the other and back in less than three minutes. To the amusement of the audience, each shot at goal was aimed either several feet too high, or several feet too far to the right or the left, or right at the goalkeeper’s hands. The second half was virtually the same as the second part of the first half. The only feats of arms were a severe tackle by Veli-Pekka Rosberg, his victim being Finn Zanolli, which earned Rosberg a yellow card (the fourth given to a Neptune player during that match), and a late goal out of a corner kick by João Goncalves, making the final goalscore 1-2 in favour of Neptune.

flagatlantis Atlantis v flagengeos Engeos Group C *** Tuesday 10 February 18.00 *** Vetrovy Stadium, Zenit *** Referee: flagpoplandia Audie Murphy Jr. flagatlantis soshy v flagengeos 𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐋
Engeos defeat Atlantis with ease
Engeos is on its way to the knockout stage, while Atlantis will have a lot of work to do to stay in the running for the World Cup, as the mutual match ended in 0-2 in favour of the Engeosians.
Atlantis had not sent its best players into the field, assuming that not ending up in last place would be easy, but they'd have to pay for that decision. They were almost glued to their own half as Engeos made attempts at goal every other five minutes. Atlantis' strikers could as well have stayed in the catacombs, as their only chance in the first half was the one created by Patrice Holdsworth, who hit the goalpost in the 33rd minute.
Not so very long after that action, in the 36th minute, Pavel Tĕstoviny managed to eventually put Engeos in the lead by sending the ball right past Jules Soileau's outstretched hand.
Atlantis showed itself more during the second half, with beautiful actions by the substitutes Laverne Tan and Ashley Battista, the last one even scoring from offside position in the 55th minute. But it was an Engeosian who created the only goal of the second half: Rufa Del Souza headed the ball into the gate after a free kick by Krystian Kilian in the 81st minute.

Maharlika v flagdasmia Dasmia Group D *** Tuesday 10 February 21.00 *** Talis Arena, Leranograd *** Referee: flagmerislaislands Quincy DeGraw Jericho (Super inactive) v flagdasmia Blandine
Dasmia gets wallop in Leranograd In the first Group D match, Maharlika has dealt a firm blow to the in Antalorgia heavily popular Dasmian team by winning over them 3-1 by scoring thrice in the second half.
The first half could only be described as ‘boring’. Quite some spectators had fallen asleep after half an hour of the match, only to wake up in the 36th minute, to see Maharlika defender Alexis Camero faking being tackled by Dasmia midfielder Axel Bilson. This resulted in a yellow card - for Camero, though.
The second half, however, started with a bang: Nick Mortel scored fourteen seconds after the start with an amazing solo action. Dasmia was kind of dazed after that, allowing Mortel to help Tomas Lorenzo score three minutes later, making the interim score 2-0. It got even worse thirty-one minutes into the second half, when Dasmian midfielder Richie Mitila was in possession when he suddenly dropped to the ground, no adversary closer than ten metres to him. It appeared to be a small unevenness on the field, but with disastrous consequences: Maharlikan midfielder Jason Magoutas snatched the ball away and passed it to Juan Aldeguer, who headed the ball right over Liam Maciness.
Two minutes into extra time, John Merriley managed to make the score a little endurable to the Dasmians by scoring out of a free kick by Sacha Mansing.

Noooo Highlights of the press conference with Dasmia's coach Brad-Neil Warelat."This can happen to any team." " Maharlika played well. We lost our concentration after the first goal. We were suddenly 2-0 behind, that was too much for us to catch up." "Now we're going to try and get back on track against United States of Flowers."

Noooo I feel sorry for you, if flagantalorgia Antalorgia weren't in the tournament I'd support flagdasmia Dasmia. This was just the outcome of this match... But you still have a chance of making it into the QF's, so keep your head up! Bonne chance!
