SONG OF THE YEAR 2016
In celebration of a successful year (technically 10 months) of NowNewMusic, a special event will be happening. This special edition will consist of the ten winners from the first ten editions of the NowNewMusic Contest. The ten winners will compete to be 2016's Song of the Year. These winners have shown to be the best in their respective editions, and soon it'll be time to determine the best of the best.
But the winners' circle isn't complete yet. I plan to begin the event immediately after the 10th edition results have been presented, when the tenth winner is known. The earliest possible day I would like to begin is December 24. The event will end on January 03. Everyone, participant or non-participant, can vote. NowNewMusic is a monthly contest. This will go by really fast, so I hope you can keep up.
More details on the special edition will come as the event nears.
Thank you, and happy holidays! MaRtIn

UPDATES December 25, 2016
If I haven't said it already: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
If you have the time, I'd like for you to check out the contest website. I've done some major updating to make navigating the site easier. Pardon the incorrect domain. CLICK HERE.
If I've made any significant changes for this contest, I will let you know in this thread from now on.
RULE CHANGES/ADDITIONS
- Some borrowing countries can also borrow artists based on the borrowing country's dominant ethnicity. The artist has to be at least half of that ethnicity to participate. These artists are not limited to their discography.- Example: Native Andorrans are ethnically Catalan, so artists from Spain, France, and Portugal who are ethnically Catalan can participate for Andorra regardless of discography.- Borrowing countries are allowed to organize any form of a National Selection as long as the potential acts satisfy the entry/artist rules given to them.
For the full set of rules click HERE.
Oh, that's it. I thought there would be more.
That's it for updates. See you around!

UPDATES January 25, 2016
RULE CHANGES/ADDITIONS
- If you want to reserve an unclaimed country for the following edition, send me a private message. If the country you want to reserve is already reserved by someone else, I'll let you know.- Puerto Rico and Faroe Islands have been granted participation. The Executive Supervisor determined their eligibility through their cultural distinction from the United States and Denmark respectively along with their large enough presence in the music industry.

See you around!

UPDATES March 23, 2017
RULE CHANGES/ADDITIONS
- If I find anyone in this forum (in posts or PM) showing disrespect to anyone or anything relevant to NNMC, a strike will be given to the main suspect (maybe two if it went way out of hand). Maybe this will prevent any more drama. Maybe not. We'll see.
- EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, you are not allowed to reserve countries/artists anymore, especially if you want to switch countries. If you want to participate, you must confirm participation after registration opens. Some of you reserved already, and that's fine right now. Not in the future. It's gotten too confusing for me. (may change depending on poll results [see below])
- Andorra cannot borrow from Portugal anymore.
- AFTER THE 14TH EDITION, the artist's connection to a certain country will be limited to parents only. I can't enforce it right now because some people have already reserved artists that have connections to a country via grandparents.
- I will accept only ONE Eurovision entry in an edition. I used to previously accept two.
- You can start a National Selection early if you are staying with the same country for the following edition. I know this contradicts with the reserving rule change I made above, but this is fine and fair because they're only staying with the same country. (may change depending on poll results [see below])
- Tomorrow, I will open the confirmation thread for the 14th edition. In the thread, I will start a poll on whether we should set a limit to the number of participants. If the poll votes to set a limit on players, it will take effect AFTER the 14th edition. If I enforce it next edition, it would be confusing and unfair as some countries already reserved their place next edition.
I only posted what I believe are the most relevant rule changes. For the full set of rules click HERE.
NowNewMusic will go on hiatus on June 2017.
The reason is because I will be travelling out of the country this June. I will not organize NNMC during that month. I know how much a lot of you like this contest, so hopefully, I will be able to start this back up for the July edition.
Please respect my decision. I hope you'll stick around when I return home.
I will temporarily unlock this thread for the next several days for any questions you might have.
Aless , you may not be allowed to participate with a country next edition, but you can still send replacement votes if you want.
Well, I hope that's everything I needed to announce. If I forgot anything, it'll be announced ASAP.

I didn't understand this part, does it mean we have the risk to lose our country if another person claims it before we do? Like in Msc? And of course I'm okay with the hiatus you deserve a break too

You still keep Turkmenistan, but you can't reserve it before confirmations open because it doesn't make sense to reserve a country that is yours already (unless you're doing an NS). I'm mainly worried about the people reserving a country they want to switch to, because that would be confusing and chaotic (mainly to me).

What Martin said:
"If I find anyone in this forum (in posts or PM) showing disrespect to anyone or anything relevant to NNMC, a strike will be given to the main suspect (maybe two if it went way out of hand)."
What I heard:
"If anyone mentions Belgian Canary or Loïc Nottet's accidental win, thus insulting Martin's dignity, and this contest's intelligence, they will be immediately expelled and will receive seventeen strikes. Sad!"

So the entry I sent you, won't be reserved anymore? It's still reserved. But I won't be doing something like that anymore because it gets confusing to me.
