FIRST MELODIFESTIVALEN 2018 ACT TO BE REVEALED THIS SATURDAY - AS THE RADIO COMPETITION 'P4 NÄSTA' COMMENCES
As there is still a long way until we get to know the full line up of the 2019th edition of Melodifestivalen, we're not far away from knowing exactly the first act. P4 Nästa is a radio competition, created with the mind to highlight singers, songwriters and new music of the entire country and each county. A total of eight finalists has been revealed, and all of them are bound to take part in the P4 Nästa final this coming saturday in Linköping. The eight finalists have all written the songs themselves, and a mix between a public jury and televoting will decide who will be crowded the next P4 Nästa winner.
The following finalists are:
01. Besides the Bridge - "Cool Kids" (P4 Uppland) 02. Spring City - "Back on Our Streets" (P4 Jönköping) 03. The Lovers of Valdaro - "Lost Forever" (P4 Stockholm) 04. Patricia Birgersson - "Här och nu" (P4 Kalmar) 05. Ewelina Westin - "Fading Light" (P4 Gotland) 06. Josias Andersson - "En kort sekund" (P4 Skaraborg) 07. Amandine Aupeix - "Beautiful Mess" (P4 Malmöhus) 08. Jahr - "Magic" (P4 Västerbotten)
The eight finalists will be battling to be one of the two super finalists of the event, where the last standing participant will be crowded the winner of P4 Nästa. It is also important to notice that the winner will NOT be the Melodifestivalen act. The one who will get the lucky ticket will be selected from a group of specialists, which also means that, even if you end up last, or win the entire competition, you could get the chance to be part of the 2019th Melodifestivalen edition.
Another important fact is that the select artist that will be competing in Melodifestivalen 2019 will NOT compete with the same song they competed in P4 Nästa. The selected artist will have to write a completely new song, specially crafted for their appearance in the 2019th edition of Melodifestivalen.
Who is your favourite? Who do you think have the best potential to survive the dreaded non-qualification in next years Melodifestivalen? We'll see later on saturday!

THE LOVERS OF VALDARO ARE OFF TO MELODIFESTIVALEN 2019!
After a intensive two hours in Linköping, with eight acts battling for the victory of P4 Nästa, it was decided that the trio Spring City has won the 2018th edition of the competition. The trio consisted of two past P4 Nästa winners, Annielle (2011) and Noomi (2016), and a past runner up, Miah (2017), as they together wrote their winning song "Back on Our Streets".
But it wasn't Spring City who received the chance for a Melodifestivalen ticket, but it instead went to the Stockholm-duo, The Lovers of Valdaro. The duo consists of Swedish Adam Warhester, and Norwegian Erik Høiby, as they wrote together the 80s inspired pop song "Lost Forever".
One of the members, Erik Høiby, is no stranger to Eurovision based competitions, as he himself was part of the backing choir for this years Moldovan entry "My Lucky Day", by DoReDos.
The Lovers of Valdaro has now in mission to form a new song specially made for Melodifestivalen, as their journey for the Swedish National Selection has just begun.

small update for today THREE MORE NAMES IN DISCUSSION?
Today, Aftonbladet's Tobbe Ek could reveal three more names that are potentially* part of next years line up. *potentially in this case means artists that are either a) still searching for songs, or b) are in the final discussion phase, so they're not 100% in, based on Aftonbladet's sources.
These three names are of course; Ann-Louise Hanson, Magnus Carlsson, and Margaret.
Ann-Louise Hanson is a huge MF veteran, having competed 13 times before, her first being in 1963, and her last in 2004. Already having the record of most participation, she would increase that number to 14 if she manages to get in Melodifestivalen 2019. Further sources also seem to point to her song being written by the family once again, also including Josefin Glenmark, Ann-Louise's daughter, this time. Josefin Glenmark might also be remembered as one of the songwriters behind Martin Almgren's 2018 entry, "A Bitter Lullaby".
Another huge MF veteran is Magnus Carlsson, having participated nine times before. Sources has mentioned that SVT wants him in, and that Magnus is especially interested in a return as well, but is still searching for the right song to compete with.
And last, but not least, we have the Polish newcomer from last year, Margaret. Sources mention that they'd gladly bring her back for a second year, seeing how well she did in the 2018th edition, despite their concerns of foreign acts in the competition. Sources also provide that it is all up to Margaret whether she'd allow herself to try a second year at the competition or not.
In other news...
HOSTS ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW AT 13:00 CET
As soon as it is, SVT has revealed that next years Melodifestivalen hosts will be announce during a special press conference tomorrow at 13:00 CET. Aftonbladet has already managed to reveal Marika Carlsson as one of the hostesses for the 2019th edition, but there is also a shortlist of names that Tobbe Ek has managed to hear from several sources all around.
This shortlist contains the names of: William Spetz, David Sundin, Christine Meltzer, Björn Kjellman, Sarah Dawn Finer, Kodjo Akolor, Krista Siegfrids, Lena Philipsson (though, several source mention that she is already out of the game), Shirley Clamp, Molly Sandén, Mia Skäringer, and Kristian Luuk.
There are also speculations that not every host would appear in each show, which makes the likes of Krista Siegfrids still possible, IF she still has the job of being the hostess for UMK.
Another thing is that all these names are still speculations, so there is still a chance that none of the people on this list will appear tomorrow. Only time will tell, after all.
