 Ireland withdraws. Tbh I don’t feel very well and I’ve had some breakdowns lately and I feel like I will force myself to vote by the deadlines and instead of wasting a spot for a PQR qualifier I will rather skip one edition and come back in better shape next edition. Thank you. If you want me to vote on your behalf this edition as so Ireland can still compete, I am happy to help  Just let me know ! |

Belarus confrims internal selection for the upcoming PQR
After last place in  Slovakia, Belarus comfirms their participation in the upcoming PQR. Despite the non-qualfication streak that has hit Belarus, the recent succes of countries like  Luexmbourg, Slovakia and the win of our neighbours  Russia motivates us to join that elite circle as fast as we can.
Originally the delegation had national selection in plan but has decided to change it and go with internal selection instead. More infos and the entry itself will be revealed later.

THE FAROE ISLANDS CONFIRM ENTRY TO BE CHOSEN INTERNALLY KVF has officially announced that the Faroe Islands will be taking part in the upcoming North Vision Song Contest being a pre-set Finalist. In a New Year's press conference earlier today, the head of delegation praised Eivør for achieving yet another 6th place and the best result the country has gotten in the contest thus far. Just like the previous edition, the Faroese entry will be chosen by an internal jury, made up of Faroese music professionals and television producers. The submissions for the Faroese entry have been opened today and will be open for about two weeks, with the chosen song expected to be announced in the end of January.

  Georgia will be present in the 35th edition!Tbilisi, 1st January: After the hiring of a new head of delegation, the GPB, Georgian Public Broadcasting, has confirmed that Georgia will be competing in the 35th edition of the North Vision Song Contest. Despite a rather dissapointing result last edition with Rodion Tolochkin & Soufee, which resulted in Georgia having to go through the pre-qualification round this edition, the broadcaster is more than determined to participate in the aforementioned round. "Even though we unfortunately have to go through the pre-qualification round this edition, we are not giving up. Last time we participated in one, we managed to win the entire edition. We're not quite sure if we can repeat that success, but we will definitely aim on a qualification to the semi finals."The current selection method is not quite known, as some sources say there's going to be a national selection, while other sources claim that an internal selection will be taking place.

but wow, what a moment. a moment most pleasing to me in my career. thank you all so much for finally allowing me to join this wonderful contest, i've been looking forward to it for years now. even though it is kinda dissapointing to have to debut in the dreaded pqr, i'm still very excited to be competing this edition. thank you so so much and i hope that i can give georgia the amazing results that they deserve 💖💖💖

PORTUGAL CONFIRMS PARTICIPATION!
Today, the 4th of January 2021, the head of delegation of the Portuguese broadcaster RTP, Alexandre de Macedo, confirmed that the nation will definitely be present at the thirty-fifth edition of the contest.
INTERNAL SELECTION
It has been decided by the Portuguese and Spanish broadcaster that, due to the fact that Portugal will be present in the Pre-Qualification Round this edition, it will be impossible to organize Festival Ibérico. This is because it would be complicated to maintain a clear schedule considering that the deadline for those countries which have to be in the PQR is earlier.
The entry has already been approved by the NBU Council. It is sung by an artist which has not taken part in the festival before. The song will be sung in both English and Portuguese by a female act.

TURKEY CONFIRMS!
The broadcaster Türkiye Radyo ve Televizyon Kurumu officially confirms the country's presence at the North Vision Song Contest 35 in Russia.
Last edition, there were high expectations for a good placement since two big stars of the turkish music, Gülşen and Edis, represented the country with their hit "Nirvana". In the end, nothing more than an 11th place in the semi final was achieved, with a narrow margin of 1 point from the 10th place.
SELECTION METHOD
It's still not clear if the country will select its entrant by a national selection or not. There's a rumor that the broadcaster is considering to select the artist and the song internally, aiming to bring something different from the last two entries. This would happen for the first time since the introduction of the format "KuzeyMelody".

Spain confirms its participation! España estará presente en Rusia

Today, an urgent meeting was held in the Barcelona RTVE headquarters. After a rather successful edition of Festival Ibérico, where the voting record was broken once again, Las Villa triumphed and waved the Spanish flag in Bratislava. The broadcaster was hopeful after 4 of the 8 selected international jurors awarded their twelve points to Las Villa, however the delegation was mildly surprised by the 21st place finish in the final of the contest, despite managing to finish in the top three in the semi-final. This marks Spain's lowest placement since the 31st edition, where Alfonso La Cruz also finished in 21st place with his whopper "Nadie te va a querer". Still, reaching the finale is a tremendous achievement for the delegation, and they have given Las Villa a lifetime membership for the new RTVE online streaming platform, courtesy of boycottandorra.es. After the meeting, a press-release was published on the broadcaster's website, confirming that the nation will be present in the upcoming edition in Russia!
What will happen to Festival Ibérico?
"Festival Ibérico" has served as the national selection for the two Iberian countries in the last four North Vision editions. The likes of Alfonso La Cruz, Blaya, Dianna, Izaro, Las Villa, Mala Rodríguez, Mari Ferrari,  Pongo and Sreya have graced the North Vision stage thanks to the successful format where both countries gave the possibility of becoming a widely known persona to its talented artists. The selection was believed to be ever-lasting; since it both brought the broadcasters loads of money from the televoters & sponsors and the selected artists mostly placed in the grand final in the big contest. However, for the last two editions, the quality of the national selection has had an obvious decrease, and despite achieving a record amount of voters in the grand final of the previous Festival Ibérico, the Portuguese entrant Mari Ferrari placed 19th in the semi-final, bringing Portugal its third worst result, after a fail in the Pre-qualification Round in the 18th edition and a 21st place in the semi-final in the 21st edition. This mainly created a doubt among the Portuguese delegation whether the selection would move on forward, considering the tighter schedule for the Pre-qualification Round participants and the overall decline of interest in the Portuguese public (a shocking amount of 14% of the total televotes were received from Portugal.) Therefore, with the agreement of the Spanish delegation, the national selection is coming to an end and will cease to exist, effective immediately. The delegation knows that the format implemented by the Swedish selection Fantasifestivalen may have seen as a success, however the internal struggles to keep up with the high expectations from across Europe put a large pressure on the producers and the voting system was deemed to be inefficient. Still, the organization team thanks the fans of Festival Ibérico, because they are concious that they couldn't have achieved this success without you, the viewers at home. Will Spain go internal?
The cancellation of Festival Ibérico came as a shock to the artists eagerly waiting for their spot in the national selection, so speculations started to arise. Some claimed that the nation would start to choose their entries internally, by a closed selection choosing the artist then deciding the song with a public call. However, these rumours were denied by RTVE with a disapproving tone, and the continuity of a national selection was confirmed. Moreover, the newly designed national selection is already revealed! Let us introduce to you...

All rights go to RTVE."españax: selección para nvsc" • is the newly curated national selection, designed to select the nation's entry in the North Vision editions to come. Starting from this edition, the program will move to different cities of Spain, showcasing the culture of each of our beautiful regions, desperately waiting to be shown to the world. For the 35th edition, the selection will take place in Bilbao! Bilbao, an industrial port city in northern Spain, is surrounded by green mountains, and it is the de facto capital of Basque Country, with a skyscraper-filled downtown. It’s famed for the Frank Gehry–designed Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which sparked revitalization when it opened in 1997. The museum houses prominent modern and contemporary works, but it’s the curvy, titanium-clad building that receives the most attention. Just like every edition that will follow, RTVE will organize a 10-song grand finale consisting of talent all across Spain. Applications are now open, so if you are over the age of 16 and want to have the chance to wave the Spanish flag in Russia, go to the page rtve.es/nvsc and fill out the registration form! The broadcaster is fairly hopeful about this selection, and the first ever edition will serve as a "prototype" to see if the format brings Spain to a higher success.

 NORWAY CONFIRMS PARTICIPATION! Oslo, Norway • 8 January 2021 NRK announced in a press conference this morning that Norway will defnitely take part in the next Northvision edition after another amazing 2nd place achieved by girl in red in Bratislava and a first place in the Ranking of Nations. The country will be part of the Big 6 for the fifth time in 7 editions and Den Norsken Sangen will be hosted once again to determine the Norwegian entry.DEN NORSKEN SANGEN 32 "Submissions have already opened and we can't wait to showcase more Norwegian talent. And not only... We have received some songs from other European countries, that we're still considering. The 10 lucky acts will be announced shortly. Stay tuned."
