Iceland confirms

18 April 2021 • Reykjavík, Iceland

RÚV has confirmed that despite a very unsuccessful edition in #35, where Ultraflex failed to qualify from the pre-qualification round, Iceland will compete in the 36th edition of the contest in Italy, despite notable opposition from delegation members and a minority in the country.

Viewing figures took a drop in the 35th edition. In fact, RÚV didn't even broadcast the two semi finals live, instead on a tape delay. Despite the delegation being divided on the issue, the HoD ultimately confirmed the country would continue participating, albeit on a much smaller budget than normal. A review of the selection process by RÚV will also be taken during the 36th edition to prepare for future editions.

He stated that: 

Despite dissatisfaction with the contest in the delegation and a minority of Icelandic fans after the events of the 35th edition, we have decided to keep participating as it wouldn't be wise to withdraw at this moment. However, with a much smaller budget being put in place, we will be very cautious with our decisions from here on.

The Head of Delegation also commented on the pre-qualification round, stating that: 

It is not something that benefits us and should Iceland be faced with participating in the event again, we will think twice about participating in it since it is not in our best interests to do so.

The Icelandic entry will be chosen internally.

Germany CONFIRMS its participation!

Cologne, 18th April: The broadcaster responsible for Germany's NVSC participation, WDR, has confirmed that the country will take part in the 36th edition. After Zebra Katz' amazing 7th place, the viewers and the delegation continue to have high motivation for the contest.

It has been revealed that the entry will be chosen through Unser Song für NVSC 36 once again. 12 songs will compete to represent Germany in Italy and hopefully bring the crown home.

The broadcaster also underlined, that there are no plans to withdraw in the near future, as the contest continues receiving good viewing numbers and interest from the German public.

Serbia confirms participation in North Vision Song Contest #36

RTS has announced that Serbia will participate in North Vision Song Contest #36

Another edition of BMGP will be held, with 10 songs competing to participate. The format will be the same, except applying for round 2 will be open to all (Co-)Heads of Delegation, and will likely have a 10-member jury. 

RTS maintains their policy that Serbia will withdraw in the event of a PQR qualification for the foreseeable future

 BHRT confirms that   Bosnia&Herzegovina will participate in the following edition of North Vision Song Contest, held in Italy!

BHVision returns for its 19th edition!

   

It was confirmed that the next entry will be selected via the long-lived national selection called BHVision, which returns for its 19th edition. It is rumored that around 7-10 acts will be competing in the selection, and the exact number of participants will be known when the selection process will begin. The last time when the country used this method of selection was four editions ago, under a different format, when the winning song represented Bosnia&Herzegovina with Maya Berović as official representative.

Finland will compete in Italy!

YLE announced today on a press release that Finland will be seen in North Vision Song Contest 36. 

Pohjoisviisut will be once again used as a selection method. The format will mostly stay the same, but there will be one minor change that will be announced during the artists' announcement.

More information about Pohjoisviisut 36 will be revealed later.

Georgia will be present in the 36th edition in Italy!

Tbilisi, 19th April: The GPB, Georgian Public Broadcasting, has confirmed that  Georgia will be competing in the 36th edition of the North Vision Song Contest. 

Georgia unfortunately didn't make it to the semi finals last edition, where Lizi Japaridze failed to qualify from the pre-qualification round and ended up in 8th place. Despite the very dissapointing result, our interest remains high, and we are very glad to announce that Georgia will be hosting a national selection to select the entry for the 36th edition of the North Vision Song Contest.

Introducing შენი არჩევანი!, the new Georgian national selection. 10 songs will be competing. Our national selection will put an emphasis on the diversity of the Georgian music industry, with songs of different genres taking part.
The winner will be selected with a combination of an international jury vote and a televote.
