BELGIUM CONFIRMS!

Brussels, 20 April 2021

The Belgian national broadcasters, RTBF & VRT have just confirmed that Belgium will, unsurprisingly, participate in the forthcoming 36th edition of the North Vision Song Contest set to be held in Italy. Moreover, it has also been announced that Belfestival will be the source of the Belgian act for the competition once again. The final arrangements for the national selection will most likely be confirmed at the end of the month. Interestingly, the local newspapers reported on the broadcasters intending to abandon selecting both their entrant artist and entry song via a national final as the formula did not prove to be successful in the last edition. As viewers tuned in on Saturday night, they expressed their disappointment about Sofia ending up at the bottom of the scoreboard. Even though the jury vote awarded us more points, our representative did not fare too well when it came to the televote results.

Our commitment to finding the right song has never been higher and all of us hope that the forthcoming edition is about to mark the start of an exciting new chapter for Belgium. We are already in talks with many artists to arrange some pretty exciting performances. As usual, we wish to encourage and identify promising new talents for the future and give it the best possible shot we can.

More information and details regarding the Belgian national selection are expected to be released in due course.

Despite a disappointing 25th place in Saint Petersburg,  KAN confirmed the Israeli participation in the 36th edition of the Northvision Song Contest which will be held in  Italy. The head of delegation Maxim Raevsky added:

"We're so proud of May Sfadia! Now we hope we can get another successful qualification and maybe a higher placement in the grand final!"

Once again the delegation decided to pick the Israeli entry through the popular national selection Israelifest which will feature 18 unique acts.

AZERBAIJAN IS ABOUT TO DELIVER AGAIN!
♫ AZERBAIJAN CONFIRMS ITS PARTICIPATION IN THE NORTH VISION SONG CONTEST 36! ♫

Azerbaijan is now fully capable of confirming that the Caucasus country will participate in the thirty-sixth edition of the North Vision Song Contest despite coming 5th in the Pre-Qualification Round of the thirty-fifth edition. "I am thankful to everyone who supported Jay and Arif in Italy, it was extremely sad not qualifying to the main event, however, Azerbaijan will continue raising the music quality bar in the contest" said the Head of Delegation.

It was also confirmed that Azerbaijan will chose its entrant via national selection which means that the iconic, the amazing, the majestic layihə: Northvision will return containing 7 artists! The artists will be later revealed in the NVSC wikia, however, AzTV came up with a teaser for the fans hinting the next 7 songs. The problem is that they were played on top of each other. Can you recognize at least one of the competing songs?

She's a FINALIST - Monaco confirms!

Today, TMC officially confirmed that Monaco will be present at the North Vision Song Contest 36, which is sure to come as no surprise to fans of the contest worldwide - as last edition in Saint Petersburg, Genoux Vener achieved the best Monegasque result in the contest history, with their podium 3rd place result making Monaco an automatic qualifier to the grand final for the first time in their history. 

"We're absolutely ecstatic that the last minute arrangement of Monaco Grand Prix has given us such a wonderful result, we're so proud of Genoux Vener and are so pleased that 'Métro Boulot Dodo' managed to appeal to so many people," a spokesperson for TMC said in an announcement tonight, "Now, we're excited that we get to finally be an automatically qualified country - it's an honour that we will do our best to make the most of!"

In addition to the expected jubilation of the Monegasque NVSC fans to have achieved an automatic qualification and come so close to victory, fans are excited to see the microstate participate in a Northvision edition held in close neighbour and ally Italy, having missed edition 19. With relations between the two delegations at an all time high following the successful co-hosting of the Pre-Qualification Round, which conjoined the North Vision Song Contest with the annual Palermo-Monte Carlo Boat Race, public interest in the contest is now higher than ever, and it is believed that sponsorships and investments have opened new doors for the Monegasque participation, potentially beyond just this edition.

"We definitely want to build further and further from this point - we don't want to get complacent! With interest in the contest so high now, we are excited to announce a brand new national selection format - MonacoStar. We're already in talks with a wide variety of artists who have expressed their interest in representing Monaco on the grand North Vision stage and we'll give you more information as we have it, but expect it to be bigger and better than you've ever seen Monaco before."

Latvia confirms - National Selection planned

Despite the 11th place in the Second Semi-final and the 27th place overall from the Baltic State, the interest is still present within the broadcaster and the viewers, as the NVSC 35 Grand Final have achieved a record in terms of viewers, despite the non-presence of the country within the 26 Finalists.

"Of course, the non-qualification of our entry in St. Petersburg has left us disappointed, especially with the great return from the fans and some head of delegation, and especially that the song was actually at 12 Points to qualify, and 12 Points really represent a lot, especially since Latvia's Jury and Televote, combined, have given 11 Points to the 10th-placed country from this Semi-final.

But it is not the time to be sad over a failure, we were close, we didn't succeed, but with this, we are available to confirm that for the 36th edition, Latvia will be hosting a brand new National Selection, under the name Latvija Decides, because we don't have any idea in giving a fancy name for a National Selection."

The national selection will be consisting of an underminated amount of songs (between 5 to 10), with the songs being selected within multiple and different paths, to make sure the selection is provided with the quality, the variety and being a great representation of the Latvian music industry.

It is expected that the National Selection will start in May 2020.

France confirms participation!

Italy here we come!

Just a small week ago France managed to obtain a respectable 22nd place out of what must have been the greatest selection of finalists up-to-date, during the North Vision Song Contest 35 final held in  St. Petersburg, Russia.  Today, national broadcaster France Télévision held a press conference at their headquarters in  Paris, France regarding the French participation at the 36th edition of the North Vision Song Contest expected to be held in the neighbouring country of Italy and revealed that the nation will be present next edition. The broadcaster once again thanked the French North Vision team and last edition's representative Hèléne Segara for their great work.

Destination Northvision to return as official selection method

During the press conference, it was announced Destination Northvision would again be used to select the French entrant, seeing the successfulness of the selection method. The approach of the French Head of Delegation is to look at the French music industry from multiple angles, meaning that a portion of the entries in the finals come from earlier entries that just didn't make it (often based on specific tastes); open entries that can be submitted by anything and anyone and to top it off, the music hunt of the Head of Delegation himself.

France in the North Vision Song Contest

France has participated in the North Vision Song Contest a total of 33 times, since its debut in the very first edition and obtained quite a few successes since then, qualifying 22 times out of all participations. In all their participations they got placed 2nd, their best placement, a total of 4 times, obtained by: Leslie, Marie-Mai, Dania Giò, and Kendji Girac. A new Head of Delegation took over in the 34th edition, known for his great track record when it comes to qualifications, still to this way unbroken. The nation is awaiting their first victory and they are eager to get it soon.

After missing one edition, CyBc can announce the Cypriot return in the 36th edition of the event, set to be held in Italy. We're really glad to be returning to the competition and are hoping to finally manage to return to the grand final, 9 editions after the last time.

THE FAROE ISLANDS CONFIRM!

The spokesperson for Faroese broadcaster, KVF has just announced that the Faroe Islands would be participating at the upcoming North Vision Song Contest. The country would be opting for an internal selection.

At this point opting out of participating at the contest is not an option for us. We are proud to have representation on such a big stage and would like to show off our country's values and culture. We are trying our best to go with the flow and modernize our selection format. We would like to see the younger generation represent the Faroe Islands aswell.

The internal selection submissions have been opened earlier today and will close on 30 April. The reveal date for the Faroese act has not yet been discussed.

TURKEY TO TAKE PART IN THE NEXT PQR

 Following the dramatic result of the last edition, Turkey is not giving up and will be trying to achieve a spot for the semi finals of the North Vision Song Contest #36, taking place in Italy.
This has to be gained by taking part in the Pre-Qualification Round, which will take place at the end of May, weeks before the #36 edition.

For time issues, the method of selection will be internal. Several artists expressed their interest in representing the country and their entries are being evaluted by the broadcaster just in these days.

This marks the second time that the country has to go through this phase after the participation in the PQR for NVSC #13, when Edis failed to qualify for the semi finals.
