 The hosts of NVSC #16 revealed! Jerusalem, Israel
Today, IBA has officially presented the hosts, who will guide us through all of the shows.
It was revealed there will be 3 different hosts, and they will be Ivri Lider and Johnny Goldstein, who you may know
as the previous winners of the contest, The Young Professionals, and they will be joined by Bar Refaeli, who previously

New revamped logo! Copenhagen, Denmark
Today the new revamped logo of the contest was revealed during
a press conference of the NBU held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The logo was created by a Danish design team and will
be used for the first time during the eighteenth edition.
Here is the new logo as presented during the press along
with a preview of how it looks with the host country/city.

Exciting changes coming soon!
Earlier today, the NBU Council members met together to discuss about the
North Vision Song Contest #18 Final evening schedule and upcoming internal changes.
 We've come to the conclusion that the North Vision Song Contest, despite already
being the most entertaining and followed music competition in Europe, needs a superior
viewer experience. We can just reveal massive changes are currently on-going, and
you will soon learn what these are about!

 The whole world will have a say on the furthercoming results!
Hoping you've had an exciting April Fools' Day yesterday, the NBU can now finally
reveal the major change that is going to be implemented into the
North Vision Song Contest from the next edition (#19) onwards.
Over the past editions, people who don't/can't take part in the contest, as
well as its fans, have been trying to have a concrete say on the results
of the competition, but they couldn't due to the actual NBU rules.
In order to solve this trouble, the North Broadcasting Union has decided
to let people's opinion be counted under a Rest of the World category, with their
votes being presented live in the final from one of the NBU-Associated countries.
In order not to let people who are actually taking part in the contest influence the
ROTW results, votes will have to be submitted by fans via our facebook page.
This means votes that are sent by any (Co-)Head of Delegation will not be counted.
This is another reason why we decided to have a better control over country roles, as
shown in this thread. (As a reminder, you need to post on the thread as Co-HoD if you want
your requested role to be approved by the NBU).
It is still unclear whether the ROTW voting method will apply to both Semifinals
or will be only an available feature for the Grand Final, but it will be announced
as soon as possible.
Voting instructions for the Rest of The World will be included in recaps, so that everyone
can understand the voting system clearly.

Change to the running order draw!
Today, 11 May 2016, during an NBU meeting, it was decided that there would be changes
in the way the running order would be drawn, starting from the 19th edition.
Starting from the next edition, the running order draw will no longer be made randomly,
but rather the council will decide the running order. It will be based on multiple criteria:
the artist's gender, the song's genre, tempo, overall mood (happy vs sad), and also location
and previous results (e.g. a country that fails to qualify a lot won't be placed first or second).
This means that only the halves the countries are participating in are drawn randomly,
and also the wildcards will no longer be used.
However: in order to prevent any possible cheating and make the system more transparent,
the NBU council, including the current temporary member, will all have their running order be
drawn randomly, and the rest of the running order will then be built up around the
council places. In addition to this, the entire council will also have to approve of the
draw, thus making it impossible for any sort of cheating to occur.
These changes do not apply to the Pre-Qualification Round, which will still be drawn entirely randomly.

CHANGE IN THE VOTING SYSTEM OF NVSC
Discussions between members of the North Broadcasting Union and the NBU Council have resulted in a change
of the voting system of the North Vision Song Contest. Instead of combining each country's Jury- and Televote,
each country will be giving out two sets of 1-8, 10 and 12 points to their ten favourites by Jury and Televoting.
You will not need a Co-HoD but this will make voting easier for countries with Co-HoDs.
This change is due to several factors. Some nations still do not send split voting results. By applying this new
system, we want to make split voting easier for everyone. We added the rule, that every country has to send
split votes from NVSC #19 onwards. Single sets of 1-8, 10 and 12 points will not be accepted and you will
receive a strike for not voting correctly if you don't send your split votes on time.
Also we added to the rule that you cannot have the exact same Top 10 results in Jury and Televoting results.
The change will result in an overall change of the amount of points given out. It will be easier for countries to
reach the 300+ points mark. Ties will also be less likely, after having seen two issues of ties in eighteen
North Vision Song Contests. In case of another tie, the tie breaking rules will stay the same as before.
As for the presentation of the votes, each country will give out their Jury Top Ten with a spokesperson.
1-7 points will be shown on screen and the 8, 10 and 12 points will be announced one after another by
the spokesperson. After all countries have voted, the combined televoting results of all countries will be
added to the scoreboard. The hosts will announce the points of the last placed in the Televoting first
and will work their way all the way up to the first place. The announcements of the points will become
slower and more tense with every country announced.
Also they way the RotW votes will be announced has been discussed. The RotW votes will be announced
just like the Web Poll Results have been announced in earlier editions. The RotW votes will include the
points 1-8, 10 and 12 and will be announced by the hosts in the very beginning of the voting.
The RotW results will neither be included in the Televoting nor in the Jury results but will only add up
to the overall result. Once the RotW votes are announced, the Jury voting part will begin with the
RotW points in place. The RotW will only be given out in the Final of the competition.
